Mactracker

THE MAC DOC  There is a crash which occurs in the latest version (5.0.11) which I can consistently reproduce. To my knowledge this only occurs under Snow Leopard (10.6.2). It does not occur on any of my Macs running Tiger (10.4.11).

The crash happens under ‘My Models’ when adding the Contact from the Address Panel. I have confirmed the crash on both a 1st generation Macbook as well as an Early 2009 Mac Mini, both of which run 10.6.2. However, it works just fine on a Dual 2.7GHz G5, so perhaps this is an Intel-only issue?

I absolutely adore Mactracker and have used it for years, which is why I am bringing this to everyone's attention. I’m sure the developer will squash this in no time.

I was just wondering if anyone else can reproduce this crash.

THE MAC DOC  Thank you so very much for that tip. What boggles my mind is why Apple would now require a modifier key to do something so obvious that's done so frequently. I thought the idea was to make software easier to use.

Thanks again!

Apple iPhone OS

THE MAC DOC  When I attempted to apply the 3.1 firmware update, it completely screwed my iPhone. And I do mean completely, as in 100%.

I literally had to attach it to another Mac and restore it to the original factory settings just to get it activated so I could have a phone! Everything was reset. I have to manually redo every single setting, re-add all my email accounts, my wireless network settings, EVERYTHING. Trying to restore from a previous backup FAILED.

Luckily my Contacts are backed up on MobileMe so I didn’t lose them, but it’s still a nightmare.

KENBOTWINICK  What boggles my mind is that this one maximize button on this one window in this one app always worked differently than every other maximize button in every other window in every other app. The way it used to work was the bug. It works correctly now...

THE MAC DOC  The changes state "now fully compatible with Mac OS X 10.6." I jut tried running it under 10.4 (Tiger) Server and it said Nicecast can't run on this version of Mac OS X.

I had to go to the developer's web site to find out Nicecast is now 10.5 and above ONLY.

My Comment in a nutshell, as a paid owner and longtime Nicecast user, is I think that stinks.
