THE GRAPHIC MAC Are you serious with that icon??? First, you're committing a federal crime by posting it here because you've stolen Apple's copyrighted work. Second, your weak attempt at "altering" it borders on stupid, if not lazy, at best. I don't know if the script works or not, but I'll never find out because I hate to encourage criminals. THE GRAPHIC MAC Dear Developer, You've probably lost dozens an dozens of potential buyers with your rather rude and uninformed response. Look, your app has nowhere near the features of other paid apps, and really offers nothing over the dozens and dozens of free apps. Telling people otherwise makes you look like a complete jack@ss! THE GRAPHIC MAC While I appreciate the efforts of the developer, and the fact that they released this pack for free, I have to agree that these (like most of the other ones out there) are truly lame. That being said, I'm sure there are plenty of people who find them really useful. (Version 1.0)

SJK Thanks for the explanation. I'd mistakenly thought TGM had simply copied the WHAT'S NEW section here since some people do that. :) Btw, is there any way to disable all post replies being automatically expanded? That's started happening a week or two ago. (Version 1.2.1)

WALRUSCP Alright - Atebits fixed several bugs with 1.2.2!! Now if they can just fix the problem where previewing shortened URLs ignores the preference option to open links is the background. Then we can start adding more features and make this a dream client. (Version 1.2.2)

Tweetie | Jun 15 2009 |
WALRUSCP Sorry for the second post, but I forgot the following for fixing requests: 1. Weak highlighting of selected tweets (Bring back the blue or give us a preference option to customize) 2. When we have the preference selected to dim previously read tweets, marking all as read should dim all the tweets - as of now it does not 3. Growl notifications - it's better, but still needs work on the issue with old tweets being announced as new when first loading the app 4. Avatar caching - every other client has fixed the issue with changed user avatars - Tweetie needs to stop showing blank avatars in these instances 5. See my comment above about the preview links issue Just some of the major sticking points for the current Tweetie version that need to be addressed. (Version 1.2.2)

THE GRAPHIC MAC Love this app! The only problem with it is that I use the "hide dock icon" feature in the preferences - but if you do that, you have no way to access the preferences unless you quit the app with Activity Monitor and throw away the .plist file in your preferences folder. There really needs to be a way to "access" the application preferences when you have the dock icon hidden - perhaps by right-clicking on the month on the desktop. (Version 0.4)

ANONYMOUS Thanks for your feedback. There is a way to access preferences while the Dock icon is hidden: click on part of the DateLine so that it comes to the front, then press Cmd-, (comma) to open the prefs. I do intend to add a context menu to open the prefs in the next release. (Version 0.4)

THE GRAPHIC MAC While I truly like this product, I'm put off by the fact that I can't download the Bootable DVD update without the $5 charge. I understand that bandwidth costs money, but that should be taken into account in the cost of the software. The update is useless without a bootable DVD because most of the useful features of the app require you to boot off the DVD or an external drive. I hate to have to install Leopard on an external drive simply to run this utility. Other than that, it's a great product. (Version 2.1.1)

GORDON BELL You're definitely correct, bandwidth costs money, and that is why we can't offer the 300MB+ image download for free- We already have free technical support via the phone, with our support team NOT based overseas, but actually here in our home office in CA. That is something we pride ourselves on-- I wish we could do free DVD downloads too, but it just isn't in the math- back when we used to do that, we had tens of thousands of dollars of downloads each week coming from IP addresses in parts of the world that we don't really sell to (eastern europe and asia). The $5 helps us manage that, plus, it honestly does cost to serve large downloads like that (our Akami bill is pretty substantial each month)-- MacUpdate is looking into some possible solutions to help the situation out-- FWIW, we sell a good portion of our product via outlets like the Apple Store (and even a super deal we offered with MacUpdate a few months back)-- Our per-unit revenue is nowhere near the $99 price in the majority of cases- You'd be surprised at our per-unit revenue from the MacUpdate promo for instance..Quite simply, we cannot pay our employees a decent wage, offer free support via phone (which is based in CA), continue to invest in the product AND give free DVD image downloads -- We wouldn't be in business long to be honest-- I do appreciate the input and I just wanted to write back some of the things on our end that prevent that--- Cheers and thanks for all the support! We've discussed the bit torrent option but still have not gone that route (I don't know, just too close to the "other" bit torrent action that seems to be going on, so we stay clear)-- Many already use that and that's fine with us- We don't really make any money on the download and are happy that users are able to find alternative sources if the $5 is just too much- We kind of get slammed from time to time for small charges like this (even though our competitors have much higher costs!)- We pride ourselves on free technical support (we even answer the phone (sounds corny doesn't it? Sad that phone support is something that is no longer the "norm"--)- We'll continue to look at options which make sense for our customers as well as for us as a developer (we have to strive to make our options as easy-to-use as possible since we get very basic customer questions (Yes, we've been asked, "what does "drag and drop mean?"-). We have a tough job of catering to the basic, non-technical users as well as the ultra-high-level users that are out there. Sending a very basic user to Bit Torrent might require additional support help for that (that costs us money too, when customers want us to be on the phone with them for 20mins as they navigate that or complain about slow download time, etc). Others may simply be offended that we send them to bit torrent-- Thanks again for your feedback, we really do appreciate it!--

iClip Lyrics | Apr 16 2009 |
THE GRAPHIC MAC I wasn't optimistic about this app - It seems like every other app that does this fails (at least for me) to find 90% of the lyrics for my songs. But I was pleasantly surprised to see that iClip Lyrics found the lyrics to virtually every song I tried it with - including live versions of songs where I had customized the name of the song by adding (Live) to the name. The fact that it took only a second or two for each song to have the lyrics pasted in (automatically) means that you can quickly got through a lot of songs by hitting the Next button in iTunes if you wish. I for one am VERY thankful that this was a true application, and NOT a Dashboard Widget - which I hate. No need for album art, iTunes already does that natively. (Version 1.3.3)

Apple Safari | Feb 24 2009 |
THE GRAPHIC MAC Works perfectly for me. Speedy, and nice GUI enhancements. You MUST make sure to remove any and all Safari InputManagers from your Library folder for it to work. This includes, Inquisitor, Stand, SafariBlock, Safari140, Cooliris, Glims, etc. You can leave 1Password in there, but as someone stated earlier, it won't work until they update it. THE GRAPHIC MAC Wait, you mean the image is grainy, or has a watermark? I certainly hope it just has a watermark, because if the image is blurry/grainy it pretty much makes the demo worthless. How can you judge an app when you can't see the actual results? (Version 1.0.1)

TaskMagic | Jan 15 2009 |
THE GRAPHIC MAC TaskMagic has been removed from the developer site. I suspect this might be because there is already an app out there called Task Magic, or maybe just because his app was too simple an app in such a crowded market - especially considering that it appears from the screenshot to do no more than Anxiety, only not free and with a much larger and needlessly complicated interface. THE GRAPHIC MAC The problem is you, not the software. First off, this isn't a "release" version, it's a beta version. It clearly stated that on the download page, and a number of other places. Your expectations are too high - it's supposed to be for testing purposes, not everyday use. Just because many of the betas work perfectly, doesn't mean they all will. (Version 3.1b2)

THE GRAPHIC MAC This is a fantastic idea for an app. I could do without the RSS feeds - I prefer a dedicated reader or GoogleReader which offers way more features. Twitter support is excellent, save for the fact that you have to re-enter your password every time. Facebook support could be better. But this app has a bright future. (Version 1.0r546)
