SZABESZ  The name "Player" is misleading. It is not a player but a Virtual Machine. Developers(?) create applications for it (SWF). The way you create your code can have a great impact on performance. Lots of the SWF creators simply do not know how to write efficient code so their SWFs demand a lot of CPU power. It is not just Adobe's fault.

Adobe has done a lot to boost the performance by introducing VM2 together with ActionScript 3. Developers should do their best to implement speed optimized codes/SWFs, preferably developing for the new VM. (Which has for example H.264 video support, so you can imagine how powerful it is really...)

SZABESZ  It is shame that Apple was unable to create a usable Spotlight interface in Tiger! Apple has created three different interfaces for the same feature: search. I cannot explain the frustration I get using any of Apple's interfaces. Each one is horrible! (BTW: and why three?)

Now enter Spotlaser! It has only one interface, but this one is superior to Apple's one. Spotlaser does not treat me like an idiot, whereas Apple's interfaces do so.

SZABESZ  Hi. Could someone tell what I should do to get this thing working? I get the following error message: "... failed to load required plugin 7za-osx-ppc". I find no information about installing this plugin. No help for the program, no web site, nothing.

Ok, this is freeware, so I cannot complain. But why releasing it without any help on usage?

SZABESZ  This IS the fastest, I can tell you. I am on an aging 800MHz iMac, I know what a fast application means. This IS the fastest. I have tested it on complex and very long HTML pages. It renders them much faster, a lot faster than al the others.

And it even CAN pause the Flash plug-in. Other browsers, including Safari, keep running swf files even after hiding them, consuming a lot of processor power. My 800MHz iMac keeps struggling with other browsers. But this is not the case with Opera. I hide Opera, and I get back my processor. It is simple as that. This is the fastest. Thank you for the developers.

(And the e-mail client seems to be promising too. I have just started to evaluate it)

I think this is the case, as reported by others. You cannot find installed files without registering them during the install or right after the install process. Of course you can write algorithms to hunt for them, but it cannot be perfect.

Uninstaller is slow of course because on the seer number of files an OS X volume can contain. And taking snapshots is the user's responsibility of course. But this can at least find all the files installed in case it is user properly.

(How are you going to delete with AppZapper the kernel xtension installed by Virtual PC, for example?)

Somebody should combine "fseventer" and "Uninstaller" and Mac users would get a fast solution. I wish I had time to develop that.....

SZABESZ  I think the name "iRepair" is very misleading to say the least. As far as I can see this app is for setting ownership and permissions. That is cool, and I even like it more than BatchMod.

But why "iRepair"? I can easily brake the whole system with it by setting wrong owners and percussions randomly..... That act would certainly have nothing to do with "repair".

(I cannot really explain how much I hate Apple's Spotlight interface, which is the worst thing they have ever "invented", because it is far from being userfriendly. Why do they suppose that I want to search in "everything"? Why do they suppose that I want to replace my active(!!!) Finder window with a search interface???????? This is so micro$oft like. These are the things why we do hate the interface of windows....)
