SULEIMAN KHAN  Okay, but what about the free and awesome Quicksilver? How is this product competing with that?

SULEIMAN KHAN  Wow…that is really really annoying.

Hmm….maybe if we both write e-mails!

Let's also see what VLC and a few of the other media player apps have to say about this so-called feature. Maybe they can figure a cleaner workaround / hack.

Ecoute

SULEIMAN KHAN  Thanks for the update.

One of the main reasons I bought Ecoute is because the developer is so responsive and the updates are so frequent!

I understand that 64bit is not crucial to this app, or that it wouldn't hardly make any difference to it at all, but I suppose as more apps are released for snow leopard, the impulse is going to be to want to see 64bit versions of those apps and not 32bit versions, even though the difference is not as big as was the case with running PPC vs. Intel apps under Tiger and Leopard.

If I can be allowed to make one complaint however, it appears as though under Snow Leopard Ecoute does not properly capture the Play/Pause media keys on the Macbook/Macbook Pro.

Whenever I have Ecoute launched, I can use the media keys to play and pause, but doing so forces iTunes to load (the version app I was hoping to avoid!). Oddly, if I use the next or previous media keys I don't run into the same problem.

I don't recall this being an issue under Leopard. Perhaps the developer has a fix?

Thanks!

SULEIMAN KHAN  Oh man...this is one application I NEED to have working to keep up my browsing workflow.

Cases in point?

1) Use the address bar shortcut key to quickly do a google search whenever opening up a new tab (seeing as Safari likes to give focus to the address bar whenever a new tab is made)

2) With multiple tabs open, use the tab sidebar to scroll down to the last of your tabs where Safari itself would have you click on some miniscule arrow presenting a drop down list where you get to try and remember what tab you wanted again.

3) Again with multiple tabs, quickly go from tab to tab using just the comma and period keys.

I miss it. I miss it. I miss it.

Dev, any ideas when we can expect an update? This is irreplaceable software.

NORAA  Not sure if this will work for you - but I am running Snow Leopard on my first generation Macbook Pro, with a Core Duo. In other words, my processor is only 32-bit. Thus, Safari loads in 32-bit mode, and all my plug-ins work! (Glims, SafariStand, etc.) So it may be possible to just open Safari in 32-bit mode to get your plug-ins back. Don't know if this will work though since these plug-ins rely on InputManagers which is not 64-bit compatible...and simply may not load at all when SL is running in 64-bit mode.

SULEIMAN KHAN  Although this terrific apps is actually "Snow Leopard Ready" it is not a 64-bit app yet.

Given that the primary use of this app is to be a faster/low resources version of itunes, it would be great to get a 64bit version out soon, so we can enjoy little to no resource utilization on Snow leopard.

PIXIAPPS  Unfortunately, I can't "fix" that.. Apple added this new annoying feature :(

Each time you hit the play/pause key, Snow Leopard automatically launches iTunes.

The only way to avoid this is to edit RCD.app (CoreServices) with an hexa-editor... That's not really user-friendly at all :p That's why I'm currently searching for another way to avoid opening iTunes... I thought about sending a lot of mails to Apple, and ask them to remove this "feature" which is really really annoying, and not only for Ecoute..

BLABLABLA@DODGIT.COM  Mr. Developer, your tool:

- depends at the free application "iTunes", which is made by Apple. Apple does what Apple does.

- therefore, is not independent.

Some things are just the way they are…

like:

you earn money (10$) thru the existence of a free product (iTunes), therefore

I rather think you are not in the right position to complain about Apple and "how they do things".

You should say a grateful word to Apple, pointing out that you like iTunes so much that you even bounded your 10$-Tool and iTunes for … ever??

Within OS X 10.6 some things changed (there is just no future in nothing:), especially for developers.

It can be confusing.

But, in my opinion, you should rather invent something instead complaining.

Sometimes, inventing something needs about the same amount of time as complaining (which can be the rest of your life).

SULEIMAN KHAN  I have not tried this software, but the very first thought that came to mind was that it was the famous "qtwitter" app for jailbroken iPhones.

The developer may wish to consider renaming his/her app, considering this is release 1.

SULEIMAN KHAN  While magnifique and CCI are indeed mutually exclusive options, Magnifique has been seriously hindered in the theme development arena in its failure to find a way to theme system font colors (such as the text that appears in your window titlebar). I have seen the author of CCI has managed a way to do this, but I cannot understand why the author has chosen not to share this information with the Magnifique crew, who could truly benefit from its use.

SULEIMAN KHAN  Safari Stand is working great except it's not able to save my toolbar configuration. I go in and reset it every time.

All I'm doing is adding my new tab and sidebar buttons to the toolbar, but I'm hitting up against no joy each time I go and restart the app to see my changes are wiped. :(

Anyone else having this issue?

Glims

SULEIMAN KHAN  Glims is excellent. After having installed this plugin I have disabled both Saft and Safari Stand.

That having been said there are just a few features I miss from Safari Stand that aren't there in Glims:

1) Tab Sidebar - this is pretty much essential, and can provide a quick visual way of switching from one tab to another. Awesome.

2) Tab toolbar button - this is also truly essential. We need one of these because when navigating around with a mouse it helps to not have to switch to the keyboard before we absolutely have to. I realize this may be me being lazy, but what if it's not? ;)

SULEIMAN KHAN  This comment is a general comment, not one specifically targeting this software, which I am sure is fantastic, but I was under the impression that the Wii only provides limited resolution viewing on your TV.

If that is the case, could someone who uses this software please report back what the TV viewing quality is of photos and movies?

SULEIMAN KHAN  Agreed. I use CoverSutra myself (got it as part of an MUPromo a while back) but before that I was a faithful user of this app, and to be honest the speed of updates leaves CoverSutra in the dust.

This is truly a fantastic application, and $8 is two meals at McDonalds folks. Give the guy 2 cents for the hard work he's put into making a fantastic app.

SULEIMAN KHAN  Shakespeare who once wrote that infamous line: "To be or not to be, that is the question," has done the impossible and answered your question from the grave friend.

Rather than complain you need to work hard, every day, to learn how to harness the incomprehensible and sometimes surreal power of DW CS3.

It may seem to you now as though DW is the bastard child you never wanted and never really cared for...Or as though you are a child in the middle of a very big, very large, and very huge swimming pool.

But I say, dear child, why not take that plunge and venture down into the deep end? Perhaps you too shall quickly understand how learning how to swim can change your life.

SimpleToDo
Jan 9 2008
***..

SULEIMAN KHAN  I got excited about this app when I read the line "Quicksilver integration" as that is something I have been waiting on for quite a time. I still hold SimpleToDo to be a decent application with what I am sure are pretty animations.

My main gripe with this app is that it does not interface with the "Global Todo" system that is built into the other mentioned todo list manager, Anxiety.

This means if you make a new todo in mail, this app will not display it--a major setback in my opinion.

I'll give this another go once the integration with both Quicksilver and the Global Todo system have been achieved.

****.

SULEIMAN KHAN  Fantastic start to what will no doubt turn out to be a very promising application.

I have a few gripes that I'm sure are already on the Developers radar:

1) The ability to insert and manipulate text is central to any vector art application. I could not find a way to do so in this application, despite the screenshot showing some form of text manipulation going on.

2) The inability to nudge objects and move them around the workspace using the keyboard arrows is frustrating, since the mouse is quite limiting for exact movements.

3) The panels work great. There should be a way to setup workspaces and save and load them afterwards. Those workspaces need to remember which panels were expanded and which were not.

But all in all a very elegant release. I'm looking forward to scrapping the ever-more bloated Adobe Illustrator CS3 in favor of this app. This loads in less than a second on my 1st generation MBP, whereas CS3 takes a good 20-30 seconds.
