STIKE Basically you can do three things: Import documents, either by placing them in the app or in folders that are being "watched" by Yep. Those files will be imported automatically. It also has an integrated scanning option, check compatibility with your scanner first though. Then you can tag the documents, give them ratings, sort by various views, search by content (aka Spotlight) which also searches the comment section of the file within Yep. Finally you can drag/drop export the files anywhere, eMail them or file them within Yep's "Filed Documents" folder (which creates a subfolder structure kinda like iTunes sorted by year, month, day on which the file has been imported). So yeah, it manages a certain amount of files that you specify. Description good enough? Did I forget something? :-D (Version 2.0.3)

STIKE Yep MANAGES your documents, helps you organize them. It is used on a limited set of files that you tag and put into order. Leap FINDS documents of all kinds, no matter where they are. Even system files, on various drives, no matter if tagged, managed or not, it finds what you are looking for. (Version 2.0.3)

STIKE People here apparently fail to understand that Yep 2 has been redesigned and basically is MUCH more powerful and flexible than its predecessor. There SEEM to be some features disappearing, but if you take a closer look, those features can be achieved with different mechanics/workflows, while at the same time becoming more powerful. Yes, the software isnt quite that intuitive anymore because of that (especially if you are coming from Yep 1) but if you spend some time with it, you will find it very handy. I was at first glance very disappointed with the Yep 2 beta and asked the developers quite some questions at their support forums. After reading their views and ideas, I understand the concept now and will gladly help them hunt some bugs. Yep has a great future, and people should be more open-minded about the new concepts and ideas. Also, if you find something that is really not there: ASK the developers, tell them your worries. They are surely responsive and dont let you hanging there! (Version 2.0b4)

RUBAIYAT Interesting you say they are responsive to your questions. I keep asking and get a stony silence. Looks like this just may be abandonware, it never really worked for me. A pity. (Version 2.0b4)

CHRISTOFIRE Abandonware? Are you serious? This software may not be to your liking, but the developer is very (almost ridiculously) active in terms of version updates and in participation in Ironic's support forum and even twitter. I started with Yep years ago and it seems every other time I open it, it wants to update to a new version. Leap to a lesser degree right now, but they seem to rotate their development efforts from one product to the next. The only software I use that may be MORE actively developed than Yep at the moment is 1Password by Agile -- and their pace is utterly manic. (Version 2.0b5)

Yep | Sep 30 2009 |
RUBAIYAT Abandonware for me. I am only into software if it supports me, not the other way around. I try and support a lot of small innovative developers, but you don't always get rewarded. Unfortunately some developers find it too difficult to actually say clearly what the application does and how much it is going to cost. In this case it is not so much the money as the considerable time spent going nowhere. (Version 2.0b5)

Yep | Oct 1 2009 |
CHRISTOFIRE Sorry that I misunderstood you. I was referring to "abandonware" as a term used to describe computer software that is no longer sold or supported as defined here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abandonware Using this definition, Yep is not abandonware. (Version 2.0b5)

Yep | Oct 14 2009 |
ANGELOS @ RUBAIYAT: What you describe is exactly why I don't use their products no longer. My first e mail to the devs was answered in an unfriendly tone, the second e mail wasn't answered at all. That's not what I would call a good customer relationship. IMHO a good cr is part of the deal... (Version 2.0b6)

STIKE Okay, this is a really GREAT effort, yet it fails in one essential moment for me: I cant add applications to the exclude list, or system preferences will crash. No matter how I try to add the apps. Dear developer: I know you cant guarantee that there wont be any problems concerning other apps, but the exclude list should work ;) If you are interested in the crash logs or any other help regarding this issue, contact me. Aside this: CCI really transforms your GUI. Yes, every little bit of it, more or less. Too bad the Finder isnt apparently affected concerning the colors... Overall: Four stars for great potential, five when this crash is figured out! :) (Version 2.1.2)

ANONYMOUS My apologies to everyone who's been frustrated by the system preferences bug, which caused the app to crash every time you tried to add an application to the "disabled applications" list. This is now fixed in version 2.1.3, which I've just uploaded to MacUpdate for posting. The problem occurred whenever you start with a blank list... that is, you haven't yet added any apps to be disabled. Kind of a catch-22 for new users who hadn't added apps in the previous release. Anyway, now fixed, and thanks for your patience! If you want to download version 2.1.3 immediately, before it's available on MacUpdate, visit the CrystalClear Interface website and download from there. (Version 2.1.2)

iDive | Dec 7 2008 |
STIKE I must say, I tried it and I dont like this app. Mainly because it really IS like iPhoto. It imports videos, renders them somehow (saving the still frames I think?) and then I am supposed to find those videos faster or something... which I dont. The timeline is clumsy in itīs execution and is not easy to handle at all. Also, why should I have yet another app listing my meta data like location, persons and events, when I have the spotlight feature? I can use other apps or even (although not so easily) OS X itself in order to tag my video files with this kind of data. I can see where this app is aiming with the use of video tapes, I mean, REAL tapes, not cataloging files on the HDD. But then again, I am not using tapes for video storage, they are simply not flexible enough. Worst about this app is, once I imported a few (20?) videos into it, I noticed that it already started eating up over 150 MBs worth of "database" stuff and some hard to identify binary files. I really cant use yet another HDD space hog, thatīs why I already got rid of iPhoto... Maybe this app is just not for me... (Version 1.8.8)

STIKE A very nice app, but why cant I make it the default app for my .jpg-s ??? I cant select it as default app for images, and if I force the selection (by using get info, then choosing the app) THIS ONE IMAGE is opened with imagebrowser. BUT if I apply it to all files of this filetype, all jpg files now open with PREVIEW!! Arghh! Can someone help me to fix that? (Version 2.3.1)

SIMON BEAVIS ImageBrowser doesn't currently register itself with the system as being able to handle any specific file types, which is causing our problem. I will look into doing this for a future release. (Version 2.3.1)

Sidenote | Aug 9 2006 |
STIKE Its impossible to delete the default note... not that this is bad, but it cant even be renamed! THIS sucks though. What am I supposed to do with a note called "default note" which cant be renamed? :-/ If I give a color to a note, its impossible to use the top pop-up button anymore. So, colors are useless currently. Else, its a great app with potential, fix those glitches and it will rock! (Version 1.7.1)

CHATELP The default note is not a bug. It can't be removed because its purpose was to garantee that there is always at least one note available to enter text. I'll may change this behaviour in a future release. I can't reproduce the color bug here. Can you give me more information ? (Version 1.7.1)

Sidenote | Aug 9 2006 |
STIKE My system: PowerMac G4 933, 10.4.7, all updates. Clicking on the popup bar usually shows all notes, to switch between them. All notes are marked with a circle, which is white... If I have now any note and switch to any color than white, the whole note is colored (red, for example) and the circle in the popup bar disappears. If I click now on the popup bar, it gets dark, as if it was clicked, but no popup appears. As soon as I return to the white color, the circle reappears and I can switch between notes with the popup bar again. I use an interface theme (non-Aqua), maybe this is related. I will try to check that. (Version 1.7.1)

Sidenote | Aug 9 2006 |
STIKE Yep, disabling the interface theme (Shapeshifter) resulted in the disappearance of the bug! Now it works. By the way, the other thing that is bugging me is not that I cant DELETE the default note, but that I cant even RENAME it! If only it was renameable, it would be no issue at all. (Version 1.7.1)

Sidenote | Aug 10 2006 |
CHATELP Don't deactivate your theme for the whole system, just add sidenote to the exclude list of shapeshifter. Btw, could you give me the name of the theme so I can try to reproduce the 'bug' on my computer. But in fact it is not a real bug, it's just that shapeshifter is interfering with sidenote. Also, for the default note, as I was saying, I'll try to add the possibility to delete/rename it in a future iteration of sidenote but there will be a lot of work involved... (Version 1.7.1)

Sidenote | Aug 10 2006 |
STIKE Yep, I excluded Sidenote. It works now! The Theme as well as the icon set is "Gershwix" 2.3.2 And about the rename... oops. I didnt think it is that much work. But that feature would be greatly appreciated! :-) (Version 1.7.1)

Easy iWeb Publisher | Aug 8 2006 |
STIKE Just tried it for the first time, and it can automatically upload only CHANGED files or all files, whatever you wish, as well it overwrites all those files which are already on the server automatically, not like Cyberduck or other non-automated (for this purpose) apps. To make it short: This app rocks, thank you. Works like a charm. (Version 1.0.1)

KALIKKALIK We do allow you to "choose" which drive to force reindexing to, but the app is coded to the root volume "/". We'll clarify this in the next release and offer some options if possible. Let us know anything else you'd like it to do.
