Klondike Forever

SOLITAIRE FOREVER  Ah yes, I see your point. There is a reason actually. Klondike Forever is simply a copy of Solitaire Forever, but only has one game, and is free. The relaxed rules option is "as is" the way you see it in Solitaire Forever, where it varies from game to game, as seen in the individual game rules.

The game rule settings you see in Klondike Forever were a bonus. In Solitaire Forever, that screen is where you choose from a massive list of games. I needed something on that screen, so I added those options.

I hope it isn't too ackward the way it is. Perhaps in the next version, I will duplicate the "Relaxed Rules" option into the screen with the rule settings. And/or mention "allow partial piles to be played".

SOLITAIRE FOREVER  Oh wow, you're right! And I thought everything was going smoothly since no one was writing to me.

It was working a few days ago. The host for my web site handles the "contact" page. I just e-mailed him and told him the problem. Hopefully he gets it working again real soon.

SOLITAIRE FOREVER  Good news, you can set those rules if you want. I accidentally broke it in v1.3, as MTCOBRA pointed out in the previous comment, but it's fixed now in v1.3.1.

Select "Choose New Game" from the "File" menu, and set the rules you want to use. There are a few rules you can customize.

SOLITAIRE FOREVER  No worries, that's not a bug. Most people don't realize that the official rules for Klondike only allow you to move just the top card, or the entire pile of face-up cards. You are not allowed to move a partial pile.

Good news though! Klondike Forever will allow you to move partial piles. Simply turn on "Relaxed Rules" in the "Options" menu, or from the option screen. :)

SOLITAIRE FOREVER  Whoops, that's a bug all right. I noticed your comment here, and I have fixed it now in v1.3.1.

If you notice anything like that in the future, please feel free to write to me on the "contact" page on my web site. Thanks! :)

SOLITAIRE FOREVER  Hi! I'd like to help out with the comments made by DREMWKR.

I'm not sure what you expect for Apple Interface Guidelines in a 3D OpenGL game. The interface blends smoothly into it's 3D environment. I have mostly had praise for the graphics and interface.

Solitaire Forever allows every legal move. The rules for all 150+ games have been taken directly from a collection of a dozen rule books. Many people play by variations of the official rules, so Solitaire Forever has an option called "Relaxed Rules". This will enhance the rules a bit for most games. The individual rules for each games point out any relaxed rules.

The most common unofficial move people expect is in Klondike, to move partial piles of cards. The official rules only allow you to move just the top card, or the entire pile of face-up cards. With the "relaxed rules" turned on, you will be allowed to move partial piles.

The trial restrictions are very reasonable. You get four games free without ever paying a dime. You can sample all of the other 150+ games on a 2-minute time limit per game. This allows a full preview before deciding if you wish to register.

The animations have been designed to enhance the visuals without causing too much distraction. All animations can be toggled off and on in the options screen, and it can all be completely turned off.

I listen to all customer feedback, respond promptly to e-mail, do my best to be helpful, and fulfill almost every request. I am sorry to see disappointment like this amidst overwhelming praise. I hope this helps clear things up.
