iConiCal
Dec 4 2007

SELF-INFLICTED  Same problem as others. Installed it, used it for one day... and realized the next day it was still stuck on the 29th. Deleted the app and any trace of it I could find, removed/reinserted iCal in the dock, pasted on the icon from a recent backup copy of iCal, restarted... and five days later it was showing the 29th again. Reinstalled one last time just to try to restore the default, then re-delete.

Nice idea, but not worth this trouble. I've decided I have no problem with my iCal icon displaying iCal's original date of release (June 17) after all.

BLOCKSOFT  When used correctly iConiCal is no problem at all. It requires to be run daily to keep the icon up to date. If this its one at startup or at a certain time each morning it is a very unobtrusive application.

Similarly restoring the default is as simple as pressing one button in the Settings window. Any problem please email me directly.

SELF-INFLICTED  Couldn't a red lobster also indicate that it's terribly embarrassed?

****.

SELF-INFLICTED  Straightforward and honest. No misrepresentation or over-pricing here. Destined to become a cult classic, ranking somewhere below "Jared, Butcher of Song," but still in the top ten.

One could hope for a bit more interactivity in Lobster Petting 2.0, but as it is, this lives up to its promises better than many version 1.0 applications.

SELF-INFLICTED  Cute... but what does it actually DO?

It's either on or off. There is no middle state. There is no variation in the on-ness or off-ness. There is no indication as to how much processor activity counts as busy and how little counts as idle.

What does an Off LED indicate? Move on with life.

RAFRAF  And by the way: why stability is 2? I think it is quite stable (being very simple).

HOMEWORLD  Stability is 2 because "N/A" is not available and I can't give anything about this useless little thing a positive rating.

Stability is actually impossible to evaluate, given that the product does almost nothing.

SELF-INFLICTED  Very nice to see this working again. I had given up on the previous, broken version and deleted it just last week.

The auto-scaling, selectable sizing, intuitive operation, and clean presentation of the details is very well done and makes this one of the two most elegant widgets I use (the other being iStat Pro).

Thanks for the fixes!

SELF-INFLICTED  Very nicely done -- especially in its support for mulitple displays at different resolutions.

This may be the new screensaver for the iBook G4 that powers our media center.

SELF-INFLICTED  Yep -- same thing for me. Someone may not believe a theme could do this, but it sure happened.

SELF-INFLICTED  Hmm. Nine bullet points. Twelve mentions of the word "icon." I get it. What I don't get is the product name. Some actual themes out there are going to feel kind of insulted.

New product name suggestion: iconiconiconiconiconiconiconiconiconicon

SELF-INFLICTED  A nice idea, but it rapidly tumbled from interesting to useless to unusable.

The resizing grip in the lower right corner barely worked. Menus were all over the place. The main UI was often completely, inexplicably blank. Clicking the info button did nothing, then did several bad things in rapid succession, then finally dumped me back to a semi-transparent window of gibberish.

Barely alpha quality, unfortunately.

LLSCOTTS  Could you please supply some information about your system? One thing I will add to the description is that this widget requires Mac OS X 10.4.3 or higher. Also, since this widget uses a remote database, it may be that it performs unacceptably on slower internet connections. It does assume a reasonably fast (non-dialup) connection.

SELF-INFLICTED  Wow. Seriously... wow.

Space is big. No, bigger than you're thinking. Really, really, mind-bogglingly big. Wow.

Easy to get lost in, too -- in time as well as space. I've lost track of how many hours I've spent tonight cruising the cosmos.

This is really an amazing visualization tool. It's not as if I need it in my daily work, but I sure like having it to escape to.

SELF-INFLICTED  Seeing as the plaform is listed as PPC and it was last updated almost nine months before the first Intel machines were released, it would only run under Rosetta...

...and your results would seem to suggest that it doesn't do that very well at all.

SELF-INFLICTED  Re: "do you need special dvd burners to burn double layer dvds"

Uh, well, yes, you'd need a dual-layer burner...

Was that a trick question?

SELF-INFLICTED  Continues to be a nice solution for album artwork retrieval, even in its "Lite"/free form. I bounce between this and Amazon Album Art 2.0, depending on how I feel about Dashboard on any given day.
