MacScan | Apr 26 2007 |
MacScan detects against spyware such as trojan horses, keystroke loggers and dialers. We do not detect Viruses for the Macintosh. I can assure you that for Mac OS Classic (pre-os x days) there were quite a few viruses for the Mac (not the same in comparison as windows however). Mac OS X is another issue with viruses. My reference is: http://www.macvirus.org/database MacScan lists the spyware it detects on our website. We make sure to seperate in the scan and also the preferences the type of programs it detects. Such as if it is a keystroke logger or trojan horse it will be classified as so. If it is a remote administration application it will classify it as such (remote admin programs are not removed, just advised). Tracking cookies are from our list of blacklisted cookies that are updated like our definition files. These are seperated in the scan from the normal spyware files and can be scanned for seperately. I hope I have answered any questions you have and you give our program another try when you find the need. I thank you for your comments.

TOMIS To greatly reduce the CPU usage, simply put the player into mini view. You toggle in and out of mini view by pressing the green widget in the titlebar. Once in mini view, drag the resize widget to make the window as small as possible. Sure you won't be able to see the current song info, but a right click on the iTunes icon in the dock will tell you that. Additionally, turning off EQ, Sound Enhancer, and Cross Fading will reduce CPU usage further. Remember, the less processing/animation a program has to do, the less CPU it will take! Hope that helps! D9 Why would you need iWeb if you have Dreamweaver? Right, you wouldn't, so Apple sees no need to create a program that works outside of its control. The whole selling point for iWeb is that it is an easy-to-use Mac solution for creating a web site; those interested are not concerned nor proficient in developing a site of grander scale. It befuddles me why people continue to lambast .Mac when it never proposes to do more than it says. You want more email, go gMail; you want a better web site, go Dreamweaver; you want a robust PIM, go Daylite. But if you want a simple but fully integrated solution, then .Mac is your answer. LEONCAHUN You can use it together with the "LAME Quicktime MP3 Encoder Component" (there is another site which doesnt seem to be up to date, though) to export to LAME-encoded mp3's right out of Quicktime Player. Pretty nifty. Place LAME.framework in ~/Library/Frameworks/ (or in /Library/Frameworks/ for all users; create the folder, if it doesnt yet exist), place LAMEEncoder.component in ~/Library/Quicktime/ (or in /Library/Quicktime/ for all users; again, create it, if it doesnt yet exist), and you're done. Re-open Quicktime Player and check your Export-options. (NB.: Why there is no entry for LAME Quicktime MP3 Encoder Component on Macupdate.com??) LAME is regarded to provide a much higher encoding quality (especially with the option "insane" ;) than, for instance, iTunes, Quicktime (see also mp3dev.org). (Version 3.97b2)

INGMARSTEIN You probably have PowerPC 7447(A) aka G4+. This chip is identified as the architecture "7450" which is different from the "7400" architecture for the G4 chip (without the +). In this case, Monolingual unfortunately selects the "PowerPC G4" architecture for removal by default. iMovie '06 is a universal binary with a 7400 part, but not with 7450-specific code, so you're unably to run the executable afterwards. Lesson learned: for G4+ chips, I'm going to deselect both the G4 as well as the G4+ architectures by default. In the meantime, be careful not to choose "PowerPC G4". (Version 1.3.1)
