SHATFIELD  Open the address book from Thunderbird and click "New Card".

Look at the Internet section of the card...

Email

Additional Email:

Screen Name:

Done.

WTF?! Where is the ability to add as many email addresses as I want to a "card"? Additional "screen names"?

What a joke.

SHATFIELD  The US Dollar's exchange rate is why this software is so "expensive"... the developer is charging only 15 EUR... which is $22!

At the rate the US economy is tanking, in a year you'll have to sell your car in order to buy it.

SHATFIELD  Because iTunes sometimes doesn't get it right.

I had a CD that was imported using a Linux box some time ago, which I then imported into iTunes when I switched to a Mac. Well, the MP3 files had v1 tags, but the v2 tags were empty. iTunes displayed the tracks correctly in the song browser, but when I played the song, it would add an "_" to the name and strip the tags!

ID3 Tag Editor fixed the problem by allowing me to update the v2 tags from the v1 tags.

SHATFIELD  This program started off very good, and is approaching greatness. The developers keep putting out release after release, with better functionality each time. I've never had it crash or do anything "wonky" on any of the pages that I visit, and when I am at a machine that doesn't have it installed, I really miss it.

When it provides web server directory authentication (not just web form authentication), it'll be perfect.

Keep up the great work!

SHATFIELD  I have a 4GB Mac Pro running Windows XP using Boot Camp (it's for work, otherwise I'd be in Mac OS X fulltime!).

When I'm booted into Windows XP, it can only see 2GB of the RAM. I've searched everywhere, and when I actually find something about this problem, it indicates that it is a problem in Boot Camp. Of course there are conflicting reports that say that Windows XP can't (and some say can) see more than 2GB of RAM.

Can anyone corroberate this or debunk this? Is there anything that can be done?

Thanks for any help,

Steven

RICHJN  Win XP can see 4GB but this is ALL memory so if your video card is 250MB then you may only see 3.5 GB, however, (I think this is correct) Windows can only assign 2GB per program but is in theory able to do this up to the limit of your actual ram. In Windows Server they used a a technique of allocating memory into 2GB lumps which they caled PAE (physical Address Exstentions) which allows ram configurations in excess of 4GB to be used. To enable you simply place "/PAE in to your boot.ini file.

On my Mac Pro with 8GB memory Windows did this for me by default so may have done so on yours as well. To check look under Control Panel > System and just after the bit where it says memory blah it will say Physical Address Exstenstions

SHATFIELD  Now that the NSA is spying on US citizens - not just "some" citizens, but *ALL* citizens - perhaps it's time that we all start looking at CryptoHeaven as a means to protect our privacy?

That is, unless the government has some back door into their systems... is that possible?

SHATFIELD  AppZapper only checks /Applications and your ~ (home) directory, and doesn't do anything about apps that install files into odd locations, such as Macromedia and Microsoft Office.

From Yanks' website, it appears that Yank monitors apps as you install and run them, and when you remove them it uses this information to remove the files that the app created during installation and runtime.

SHATFIELD  I downloaded the program and tried it against 2 airport express units. On my dual 2Ghz G5, it worked flawlessly. The streams started almost immediately and were in sync with each other. I'm not sure how it would work against 3 or more - someone who has that main AE units will have to write a review.

As far as features go, I'm giving it a 4 because it doesn't remember my EQ settings between app launches.

Keep up the great work, RA!
