MACTECHHEAD  Same here. The CD updater keeps failing for me too. Keeps asking me for the original disc. I put in the super drive and it rejects it.

I mount a new disk image of my disc, and it fails at the burning disc part.

Why couldn't Alsoft just make an updater for the application instead !! Going in circles is not much fun!

HARV  If your original DW disk was a DVD, a CD won't work. You must (as stated in the directions) use a DVD.

E_COMMERCE  Same boat - my original DiskWarrior 4.1 CD is also rejected as being invalid for the update. Why Alsoft makes us go through this utter nonsense every time is beyond me. Now I guess they'll charge me for sending a new CD since their tools don't work.

If I'm booting from the CD, I don't care about Snow Leopard compatibility, so I don't need to update it. If I'm using the copy on my hard disk to repair something, I need that updated - since then I will be booted into Snow Leopard. But there's no way to update the HD copy without first jumping through hoops to update the CD copy! Nevermind that everyone else figured out installer packages years ago - even Microsoft did.

You know what? Forget it. Disk Warrior saved the day once, about five years ago, and was indeed indispensable that day. I have never needed to run it since, and looks like I won't be able to moving forward. Another paid-for program to chuck in the trash.

E_COMMERCE  And just like that, quit and relaunch the program and it works. Looks like if it fails to find a valid CD once, it screws up from then on. Yeah, that "testing limited configurations" sure helped get the bugs out, now didn't it.

E_COMMERCE  Having a conversation with myself here...

After finally recognizing the CD, imaging it, updating it - it froze while waiting for a blank CD. Insert the CD, nothing. From then on, the program was wedged and completely unresponsive. Finally I grabbed the patched image out of /private/tmp and burned it myself.

WORTHLESS updater. DiskWarrior may be a good tool, but the update process is atrocious, and support from Alsoft is nonexistent in my experience.

MACTECHHEAD  Stupid updater. Failed every time when I tried to use the 4.1.1 DVD version with the CD Updater. And yes I had a blank DVD in the drive to the bonehead with that dumb remark. Duh!

But the updater finally worked with my very old version disc 4.1 and I was able to copy Diskwarrior 4.2 from that new disk image and copy it to my 4.1.1 disk image. I manually converted my 4.1.1 DVD image to CDR and replaced the old application it.

What a hassle. Great tool, horrible update process.

ANONYMOUS  This happens when you don't have write-permission to your plugins folder. Go to your Library/Application Support/iPhoto folder and select Get Info from the File menu. Under Sharing & Permissions, make sure you have Read & Write access to this folder. Same thing for the Plugins folder if it already exists.

ANONYMOUS  Oops, I thought this was about iPhoto. The same thing is valid for Aperture, but the folder to check is Library/Application Support/Aperture and the Plug-Ins folder that you might find there.
