Type: DeveloperDate: 2 May 2008 23:54This is the final release of mini$ and will be hosted by MacUpdate.
It was a pleasure to contribute to the community.
Enjoy.

Type: ReviewDate: 17 Mar 2008 10:35Wonderful and elegant MS Money clone with oodles and oodles of "good old fashioned" Windows eye candy, which I would assume Mac users would find... distracting.
Yet for all the bells and whistles, it lacked snappiness. I was using this on a 3GHz processor with 3GB of memory, so I have plenty of horsepower. It was sluggish and had lengthy response times for simple actions. Probably because it is a Java application.
After a few minutes, all the classic Redmond eye candy became tiresome.
At this price, "Prospects" or "MoneyWell" are far better solutions for the Mac, or MS Money for Windows.

Type: DeveloperDate: 8 Mar 2008 00:07Added currencies:
Danish Krone (DKK)
Indonesian Rupiah (IDR)
The names differ slightly from your requested names. These apparently are the official exchange names.
FYI, when converting USD to IDR, you get an exchange rate of 0 because there is only a two digit precision.

Type: CommentsDate: 3 Mar 2008 23:54One more comment:
I clicked on a transaction that was from XBox Live and found out that 83 other people liked "Costco Gas"; some of whom live in Beaverton, OR.
I have obtained enlightenment... or is it Nirvana... Well, it did make my eyebrows wrinkle up a bit.

Type: CommentsDate: 3 Mar 2008 23:45Very interesting; I am extremely intrigued.
However, it suffers from what all web based applications suffer from: lack of speed.
I signed up, started an account, and waited... waited... went to get some water... and...
"Request Time-out"
Then there are the ads disguised as tips.
The search didn't work. I searched for some text that I could see on the screen with my own two eyes, yet there were zero results.
Still a very interesting concept.

Type: DeveloperDate: 12 Feb 2008 00:11Apologies for the quick update. There were a few... wrinkles that had to be ironed out. I just want to ensure that users have a stable and reliable program.
And regarding attachments, praise be that Photoshop is not your default program for simple images. However, there are far too many advantages for accessing the default program. This way you can attach PDFs, HTML pages, or any thing you like, and view them appropriately.
Enjoy.

Type: CommentsDate: 9 Feb 2008 12:04For some unknown reason the Google server is claiming that it is overloaded and cannot be connected to. mini$ is getting a response from the server but is incorrectly comparing its internal version with the error message. To summarize, there is a bug in the updater when the response is something other than a version number or a connection issue. This of course will be addressed.
In the meantime, I posted the actual application on MacUpdate so users can download it.

Type: CommentsDate: 27 Jan 2008 00:49mini$ supports all the major formats. And its free!
Note to developers:
Importing is so darn easy! I am the developer of mini$ and had no trouble at all to do it; OFX, QFX, QIF, and CSV. My importers are flexible and work consistently.
You guys charge $44.95 and don't have it! You should be ashamed. Try mini$ and take notes please! Or just have me do it for you. In fact, this goes out to all the Mac money programs. When Microsoft finally releases Money for the Mac, or Apple takes initiative and writes their own version of it, all these wannabe finance managers will be flushed down the drain!

Type: DeveloperDate: 8 Nov 2007 12:06mini$ is, or was, "EZ Money". Same code base, same developer, etc. They both share the same data set, so a backup for one, is a backup for the other.
Only the name and logo were changed.
mini$ however, contains bug fixes and other enhancements that are not in "EZ Money".

Type: ReviewDate: 28 Oct 2007 23:33Finally! The perfect "free" application. I love this one. It costs no money, so it is free in that respect. It also does nothing, so it is "free" in terms of functionality.
A double whammy! Awesome!
I'd pay for this, wait a minute... then it wouldn't be "free" anymore. Never mind guys.
Oh I get it, April Fools'... But it's October.

Type: ReviewDate: 28 Oct 2007 16:53After seeing the price go from $60 to $40, and now $20, I decided to try it out.
My thoughts... a waste of time and money. If we could sue people for wasting our time, this developer would qualify. It claims to import... not. Easy to use... no way. Intuitive... not even close.
Worth $20... hardly.
If you think so, then I have some car exhaust in a bottle marked "Fresh Air" to sell you for not $20... but $19.95.

Type: CommentsDate: 26 Oct 2007 19:39You should really stop making posts, because you are only embarrassing your self with poorly written logic:
"If you would use Buddi without [plugins] it will never crash."
-- Then you lose functionality that is already in other applications.
"You should not import data from your bank account...Bank account management means entering the every day transactions you make, e.g. issuing a cheque..."
-- Then you waste a lot of valuable time. How do you enter previous data? All by hand? You should get rid of your computer, car, coffee pot, etc.
"Buddi is a double entry application ... the transaction once and it post it to both accounts, debiting one and crediting the other."
-- So is/does mini$. What's your point?
"In buddi, you can create unlimited income and expense accounts and thus, categories your incomes and expenses."
-- Ditto in mini$. What's your point?

Type: CommentsDate: 24 Oct 2007 13:52Be very wary of this program. It is for sale, yet they are using "free" icons that are licensed under "GNU". Specifically, the one used for "Spending" which is from the "Crystal SVG" icon set.
Basically, this outfit is in violation of law, and if since they are attempting to generate revenue while using already licensed work.
Tsk tsk tsk...

Type: CommentsDate: 7 Oct 2007 22:39Hmmm... you are quite contradictory to yourself. Have you turned a new leaf?
As you claimed earlier about Buddi:
"DEFICIENT TRANSACTIONS WINDOW.
1. The Reconciliation and Clear are marked between two accounts in the application which are obviously reconciled by definition as the application post the two sides of each transaction simultaneously. The developer fails to understand that reconciliation means between each Buddy account and its respective bank statement.
2. The columns are not headed.
3. Each transaction has two Details lines which make the transaction window appear messy after being filled with many transactions. A column which would only show the "other side" account should be created instead."
Buddi is:
1) Slow
2) Sloppy
3) Crashes with its own plugins
4) Imports nothing
5) Ugly

Type: CommentsDate: 4 Sep 2007 10:01Regarding QIF importing, the latest version still has the same behavior. It does not appear fixed.

Type: ReviewDate: 27 Aug 2007 13:57This application can be summarized perfectly from a Dilbert cartoon:
Dogbert: "Function means nothing. Design is everything. Quality is yesterday's news. Today we focus on the emotional impact of the product."
Dilbert: "But it still needs quality, right?"
Dogbert: "You are so-o-o-o hard to look at."

Type: CommentsDate: 15 Aug 2007 00:26A potentially good application, but its importing is broken. It does not import correctly for transfers and it is dreadfully slow with medium to large files.
I used the same file with Moneydance, Quciken, & EZ Money with success and speed.
Even after I manually created all my accounts, it still ignored the transfers.

Type: ReviewDate: 15 Aug 2007 00:23It's importing capabilities are absolutely pathetic. It duplicates accounts, categories, transactions, etc. It completely ignored the reconciled field. On top of that, you have to reconcile one at a time in the UI.
A complete waste.

Type: DeveloperDate: 12 Aug 2007 00:21I am interested in adding an account type of "Loan". There are some things I'd like to discuss with you regarding functionality/behavior.
If you are interested in assisting in the development of this new type, please email me at:

Type: DeveloperDate: 1 Aug 2007 12:09Regarding editing, you can double click on a transaction to start editing it.
However, double clicking the "Rec" column will change the reconciled status, and double clicking the label column will bring up a label dialog.

Type: DeveloperDate: 31 Jul 2007 17:33I noticed you gave 3 stars for stability. Although it is a very simple application and not feature rich, it is stable and I am yet to receive any information about it being otherwise.
Did you experience a stability issue? If so I'd like to fix any issues you may have had.
Thanks,
Roth Earl

Type: ReviewDate: 27 Jul 2007 13:22Any modern day financial application, especially one that costs money, should support importing and exporting data. This one does not. To summarize, this application is worthless.

Type: DeveloperDate: 15 Jul 2007 22:10Cha-Ching creates many files on your system; logs, preferences, caches, metadata, etc. This program finds those files and removes them.
Anyone who has downloaded the Cha-Ching demo should run this program to ensure that Cha-Ching files are completely removed.
