Not recommended for this use.
I returned it.

Type: ReviewDate: 5 Feb 2008 09:50I have finally made contact with the developer, who was responsive to the problem. I was provided an earlier version of the game (which works) while he analyzes the crash report to correct the problem and post an update.
I am satisfied with his response to the problem.

Type: ReviewDate: 21 Jan 2008 11:40I do not recommend either this game or any product by this developer.
After purchasing and installing this game (version 1.6, which is current as of the time of this review) it has crashed each and every time I have attempted to use it (by clicking on the "Play" button after launching it).
I have emailed the developer and have never received a response. The developer has a new web site that is rather poor. The links to email them do not work.
As the game will not work due to its crashing I have been unable to observe features and etc, but have rated them "worst" because, whatever they may be, they are useless unless the game can be played.
I have rated the game "1 (worst)" simply because that is the lowest rating allowed. This game deserves a much lower rating.
Save your money to buy something else.

Type: CommentsDate: 5 Aug 2007 00:15Doctor Infinity,
I quite agree with your additional remarks regarding the potential problems of the SPYWARE installed in Path Finder.
I reinstalled Pathfinder 4.7.2 after reading your remark just to verify my earlier observation about folders that do not appear within the Applications Folder. If you are able to make yours appear, then I am glad for you, but I am still not able to make applications appear which are contained in a folder which I have created either in the Applications Folder or the Applications > Utilities Folder. I had previously reinstalled Path Finder just to make certain that there was not a problem with the installation prior to making my original post.
Assuming that you must somehow or other gotten things to appear I began poing around. After going into the icon view (which I have not used for a very, very long time) the folders appeared. Changing to the other view modes the folders appeared, but only after the icons for the items not in folders, in other words, two separately alphabetized lists for the most part. There were some things which simply were not alphabetized correctly at all. This is very, very odd. As my remark was "...Path Finder fails to display numerous applications which have been installed in their own folders within the Applications Folder. That makes the application completely and utterly useless as far as I am concerned" I will now amend it to say that the display is not as it is in the Finder and is, in my opinion, awkward to use and not easy to find everything by simply scrolling down to it. My opinion remains that this is a poor product and a continue to recommend not purchasing it because of the SPYWARE.
Regards

Type: CommentsDate: 2 Aug 2007 21:18The company's web site says that it is doing so.
http://www.cocoatech.com/weblog/ "Some interesting stats"
By email response, the company states that the customer may "opt out" via a preference setting (which incorrectly assumes that the customer knows about it in the first place). This is unacceptable. It is still SPYWARE. Only when given an informed opportunity to "opt in" should any such data be collected. You may say that the data is innocuous, but who knows what else it may collect if the developer decides he wants it. He has crossed the line. Technically, this is unauthorized hacking of a computer. It is certainly not the beginning of a good relationship with the customer.
By personal observation I have determined that Path Finder fails to display numerous applications which have been installed in their own folders within the Applications Folder. That makes the application completely and utterly useless as far as I am concerned.
It is supposedly a better Finder. It is most certainly not, in my opinion.
I have uninstalled the application.

Type: ReviewDate: 2 Aug 2007 09:25DO NOT PURCHASE THIS PRODUCT!!!
I recently purchased Path Finder 4.7.2 and it is completely useless as it fails to recognize applications which are within folders in the Applications Folder. It is unbelievable that an application at this stage of development would have such a fundamental flaw.
Upon going to the developer's web site I noted a blog posting that Path Finder collects data from the user's Mac without informing the user, much less providing an opportunity to decline participation. Who knows what else this SPYWARE collects without notice? Once the developer has crossed this bridge trust is lost.

Type: CommentsDate: 30 Apr 2006 09:14Though some people have recommended Synchronize Pro X to me for its ability to backup over a network I must say that I find the author's policy about updates and the length of the supported updates to be particularly bad.
The statement from the website says that a purchaser is entitled to updates for two years from the date of purchase, but after two years only the original version purchased will be supported by that license serial number! There is a $49 "renewal fee" which allows the licensee to continue using anything other than the original version purchased and any further updates for another two year period.
This is crippleware. Expensive as Synchronize Pro X is I do not believe you get your money's worth from it.
I find this policy repugnant and do not think I can bring myself to support a company which uses it.
My view is that the company is taking advantage of the consumer.
