RODERICK  So far so good. My books are being found and captured from all listed databases, and the search can be expanded to include specific libraries and resources around the globe. This is a useful feature for small book releases, foreign language texts, or specific trade publications unique to Europe. The addition of other db searches is done via plug-ins which makes the utility/program a good bet for future expansion and functionality.

The image preview of book covers can be a bit jumpy, but, like iTunes you can paste in any image you wish in place of those found through the Quickfill db searches.

ISBN capture via iSight on Macbooks and MacBook Pros necessitates a good light exposure, but once you get a good set up, scanning in books is quite fast.

The strength of the program is its straightforward simplicity. As stated, its for books, or any work that has basic bibliographic information. The interface feels Apple-like enough, and perhaps this is its other strength: its not trying too hard to render textures, features, animations, or anything else. Books is a reliable db for your books, has a minimal learning curve, is open source, and deserves credit and consideration for being so advanced outside of commercial development. Good spare code @ 15Mb; there's not a useless feature in the setup, its all useful, and so far, it all works.

A solid addition for academics, students, or any user looking to document and organize a decent library.
