RIP0FF Now that Apple has disabled the ability to deselect languages from Snow Leopard's Info window, I found this program extremely useful. Many thanks to the developer. Be aware that Language Switcher will, by default, show only the programs in the Applications folder, excluding subfolders and other locations on your HD. Programs placed in subfolders (like iWork) or elsewhere will not appear unless you go to File in the menubar, then select an application using the submenu (shortcut Command + A). (Version 1.1.2)

RIP0FF Agreed, except for the fact that it is, to the best of my knowledge, the only program of this kind that works directly from the menubar. Now, charging $20 for it is ludicrous. (Version 2.0.2)

RIP0FF + 1. What makes this program's value is only the fact that it is accessible from the menu bar. (Version 2.0.2)

Frames and Strokes Installer | Sep 5 2009 |
RIP0FF After installation (iWork 09 on a G4 running OS X.4.11), I found a couple of what I suppose to be issues with the strokes: 5 of them appear as text, not graphics in the Strokes submenu (TBD Chalk, Chisel, Diamonds, RepeatingSquiggle, Rounded). This could have been however a choice made by the developer. RepeatingSquiggles do not circle entirely the selected image but I am not sure it has been designed to do so. There are however minor annoyances and I look forward to trying future versions of this much welcomed addition to iWork. All frames worked fine for me. I will install the program later on another mac running Snow Leopard. A very good start anyway, so many thanks to the developer and more thanks to make it free. (Version 1.0)

I don't know why these 5 elements appears as text ...I searched if there was something different of the others, but no...I think it's a choice made by Apple ! (don't forget that these frames and strokes are natively on your computer but that Apple don't show them (that's also why I don't ask money for this installer !)) If they keep them hidden, it's maybe because they aren't ended ??? Thanks, I added the PPC compatibility in the description ;-) (Version 1.0)

RIP0FF Contrary to the developer's affirmation, there is no need to change your system language to open programs in a different one. This is implemented by going to the info window of the application, then deselecting all languages except the one you want the program to start in. It works nicely if you want an application to always open in the same language but can be time-consuming if you often switch between different ones. In this last case, Language Switcher comes real handy. (Version 1.1)

NICK LO "This is implemented by going to the info window of the application, then deselecting all languages except the one you want the program to start in." Actually you don't even need to do that. Set the order of your language preference in System Preferences > International > Language. If you then turn off the top one for an app in Get Info it will move down the list so e.g. if your top language was English followed by Spanish; Turning off English for that app will change it to Spanish. RIP0FF Yes, it is cheap for what it does, and the developer's Portfolio suite is a steal. I look forward to seeing it included in a future MU software bundle (Did I say I was a penny-pincher? ... No? Well, you just guessed it). (Version 2.2)

ALGOS I think he means it locks up. Does the same on my MacBook running 10.5.7. I have all sorts of trouble since updating. Safari hangs when I play movies, and iTunes hangs when I try to play something. When System Preferences, Safari or iTunes hangs I can't even force quit it and I have to hard reboot my machine. Machine was running perfectly until I updated Flip4Mac. (Version 2.2.3.7)

yes, you are right, it does a similar thing - thanks fore pointing me to them, I didn't know before about this "competition" :). Menu Browser has a couple of additional features: * more easily customizable list of folders that are shown in the menu (no need for symlinks in a special folder) * "folder actions", which let you open a folder in finder/terminal/iterm/custom apple script * hot key, which opens the menu whatever you are doing, allowing for a completely mouse-free navigation And some more features are coming in the next version.

RIP0FF Because, as you said, Alpha Omega Software is the joke of the mac software community (Others with a less potent sense of humor may think it is a shame or an embarassment)... I suppose MU tolerates it as AOS plays the role of a buffoon for the site. (Version 5.2)

MAKAI Same sentiment here. Esp. since version 2 I think that integration with a hot-key launcher has much more complicated. (Version 2.1)

Plain Clip | May 22 2009 |
CALIXTUS It's not more complicated than with version 1: tell your favourite hotkey utility to launch Plain Clip, and that's it. Only if you need different shortcuts for different types of text cleaning (for instance, one which will only remove formatting and another one that will additionally remove trailing whitespace, control characters and line breaks) you have to deal with calling the shell script. (Version 2.1)

DOOBIEXX ThisService is the answer. Go to iusethis.com and check it out there. It will turn any script,Truly I mean any script, i.e. bash, applescript, python, etc... etc... up to the "more" serious languages like C. (Version 2.1)

Synergy | Apr 2 2009 |
RIP0FF Never had any problem with any version of Synergy... and I've been using it almost since its beginning, currently on three different machines. My advice would be to delete Synergy using the uninstaller included in the program, including the preferences, then reinstall it. (Version 3.2.2)

OCTOBERDAY Downloaded 5.4.1 and my airport card can no longer locate my Airport Extreme base station. After 8 frustrating hours of trying different things to fix it, I finally went back to wired connection to access internet. My card sees all the neighbors' locked wifis, but not my Airport Extreme base 3 feet away (which, by the way, it can "see;" It's listed when I go to 'advanced.') I have an older Powermac G5 Dual Processer, and I'm off warranty, so am waiting for some good advice or a bug fix. I can't afford to pay tech support to help me fix Apple's mess-up...
