REGGIE ASHWORTH Thanks for the comment traspler! Actually AppDelete has been able to do this since Version 2. Sometimes it gets overlooked but it's just one of the many way to "trigger" AppDelete. In Snow Leopard right-clicking is also much improved due to how services now work and you might find you like this as well. Again thanks and if I can be of any further assistance send me an email and I'll be happy to answer any questions you might have. Take care! From Reggie Developer for AppDelete (Version 3.0)

This is Reggie the Developer for AppDelete. I do apologize for any confusion. You can delete AppDelete but maybe you are trying to use AppDelete to delete itself and that's why you are getting an error message. At one time there might be an "uninstall" feature but at this time you can delete it the conventional way. It errors if you try to use it on itself to avoid conflicts. Again my apologies for this and for anything that led you to wanting to delete it. If you would email me from my site I would be more than happy to assist you further. Thank you for your post! :-)

REGGIE ASHWORTH Hi everyone! :-) Just want to post a note to say that though I've been quiet recently it's because I'm close to releasing AppDelete Version 2.0. I think everyone will like it! Until then the current AppDelete Version 1.1.1 works just fine on Leopard and there have been no updates recently because there are basically no known issues at this time. Look out for many improvements and new features and a redesign in Version 2.0... Developer (Version 1.1.1)

It can be useful to remove your widgets with AppDelete because the standard way will not remove associated files just the widget. With AppDelete associated files are also removed just like with apps. Hope this helps you! :-) Thanks again...

This is Reggie the Developer...thank you for your post. I appreciate the work that you did as it will only help AppDelete to become better... First you are right about not having a preview of the files. AppDelete has a slightly different approach when organizing the files in the trash and having an Undo function. But with that being said AppDelete will include a preview feature in the future...probably with a slightly different approach than the competition to keep it as "original" as possible... Now about finding only 1 file it's a very interesting test you did. When I first saw it I said to myself maybe AppZapper got the better of AppDelete in this one. But if you look closely AppDelete might be more accurate after all...why? I'm not a RapidWeaver user I must admit...but if you have RapidWeaver 3.5 (not the beta) the associated files have exactly the same name as the ones that were deleted with the Beta in your screenshot. So let's say I have the Beta and I just installed the new Version 3.5 (non-beta) and I want to delete the Beta version. In your example it would take the files which appear to be "shared" and are now being used by the regular non-beta version. Which would be a mistake right? Does that make sense? Anyways I'm not trying to start anything with this but as I took the time to investigate this is what I found. It would be great to get your feedback on this...thanks again for your post! :D

REGGIE ASHWORTH Hi Sandifop! :D This is Reggie the Developer. Thank you for your post. You're right about the password. Unfortunately it's Installer asking for the password not AppDelete. I can set it to not ask for a password but then it won't install on non-admin accounts. Personally I wish it would ask for a password on non-admin accounts and let admin accounts install without a password...sounds like you feel the same? :D I hope it isn't too much trouble...at least you only have to run it once and it's over with right? Sorry about that and thanks very much for your feedback! Feel free to contact me anytime... Reggie Ashworth (Version 1.0.2)

REGGIE ASHWORTH Hi again Strob! Ok I'm glad to hear it's working now. You're correct you can't drop onto the icon in the window, only the Finder icon. You should be able to drop onto the dock icon assuming it's closed, I'm not sure at the moment why you were not able to? This is what I usually recommend, although another good way is to put an alias in the Finder sidebar as someone just posted. About previewing the files you are right. At this time there is no preview. The only way is to delete them and if you like you can click "Undo" and it will send everything back. Also when items are deleted they are placed in folders that show the path they came from. So there are a lot of safety option build in...just not preview at this time. Look for a preview feature in future versions... Thanks again for trying AppDelete and I apologize for this problem you had. Please contact me if you have any more questions! :D

REGGIE ASHWORTH Hi again STROB, Ok I think I get it. Does that window say to please drop an app onto the AppDelete icon? There are 2 ways to get this window. First is if you double click AppDelete. You don't need to "open" AppDelete first, you just drop the app onto the AppDelete icon in its "closed" state. Second, if you drop something that's not an app you will get this window. So for example if you drop a pdf or doc file it won't work. Try this...make sure AppDelete is closed and try to drop Chess.app onto the AppDelete icon in the AppDelete folder. Does it now show you the window asking you if you want to delete it? I'm assuming you're getting the window that says to please drop an app onto the AppDelete icon and if this is not the case please let me know. Sorry for this problem but I think we will sort it out...

This is Reggie the Developer. I'm sorry to hear you're having a problem. When you say nothing happens are you getting some kind of error window? Without knowing more details try to take something that is for sure an app (ex. Chess.app) and drop it onto the AppDelete icon while AppDelete is closed...does that work for you? There are no known issues with this version that I'm aware of that would cause this so there should be an easy explanation. If you would email me I can help you to figure it out... :D Sorry again for any trouble.

This is Reggie the Developer. Thanks for the great feedback! Regarding your first point there will definitely be a feature in the next version. I have received some interesting feedback on what people would like to see so look forward to an additional option in the future. As for the Undo yes it would be awesome to be able to Undo anytime. If there is a way in the future I would include this option. Right now you can restore easily (if Undo is unavailable) using the folders and the log...you just have to put it back manually... Great thanks again for the post and the feedback! Reggie Ashworth (Version 1.0.2)

I guess the first obvious thing is why the filename keeps changing? So it goes from AppDelete1.0.2.dmg to what you mentioned? Strange? But it does download as a normal looking disk image? Did Safari ever stop the download and fill your screen with a bunch of text? It's a standard disk image actually make with Disk Utility. As for the Installer hanging now that's another issue. I'm not sure right now why it would hang at that stage because nothing has been installed yet? VirusScan...hmmm...I'm not sure but there must be something causing some strange behavior. What kind of Mac and OS do you have? Thanks for the feedback. Yes I would like to figure this out. Once you installed it manually did the app run ok? As for why an Installer...a few people have asked this and it's just to make it easy for everybody. And AppDelete keeps everything inside it's own folder so the Installer automatically puts the folder in the right place. It could always change in the future. Thanks again and just let me know. You can email me direct too if you like...it's up to you? :D

It is possible that future versions of AppDelete will have the capability to get this folder in this case (and similar situations). There are various ways (package receipts being one of them) to find these files and AppDelete is not forced to use any certain way. I will use any methods to make AppDelete as accurate as possible. I believe in many cases you will even find that the current version will find files that my competition sometimes will not... :D Yes the way AppDelete works is slightly different than the competition which is ok (I'm not trying to copy them) but some people are used to that type of interface. There will be some features added in the next update most likely Version 1.1 to address user feedback. It will probably keep that basic use of AppDelete the same for those that like it and give a few more options for those that need it. And the password window will probably go to just once...remember AppDelete is not Tiger only so it has to accomodate pre-Tiger capabilities as well. Hope that helps? :D Thanks so much for your feedback again and email me anytime! Thanks for using AppDelete! Reggie Ashworth (Version 1.0.2)

REGGIE ASHWORTH Hi this is Reggie the Developer and I just want to let everyone know that Version 1.0.2 is available for download. This update addresses most of the feedback that has been mentioned here. Feel free to contact me anytime through my website ("More Information" above) and thank you for using AppDelete!!! PS- GRANDDUC maybe the download issue you had was when it was first posted and transferred over to MacUpdate? I hope that a re-download would fix the problem? GRANDDUC Thank You for a prompt response. Here is what happened: a redownload invoked a very long verification process before the dmg would mount. In Safari's download window, file name changed to dmg.uOLkSn... The Installer seemed to get stuck at the "Choose Volume" stage (spinning dial). I finally opted for unpackaging, and dragging AppDelete in my Applications folder. Why an Installer at all? Could VirusScan be making difficulties, do you think? (Version 1.0.2)

REGGIE ASHWORTH Hi MICWARE! :D This is Reggie the Developer. Thank you very much for your feedback. I have just tested and confirmed what you experienced. REGGIE ASHWORTH Hi this is Reggie the Developer and as I pay close attention to any feedback I receive I see that using an encrypted Home folder with FileVault is keeping AppDelete from finding everything that it should. As I write this I'm working on a update that will allow FileVault users to get the same results as non-FileVault users. Please watch out for an update shortly. Anyone not using FileVault is not affected. Thank you again for the feedback that has brought this to my attention! I apologize for any inconvenience. Reggie Ashworth (Version 1.0.1)

REGGIE ASHWORTH Hi this is Reggie the Developer. I have received a few comments that there was an error during installation. This only affected those that were installing on a non-admin account. As of download 4150 the package has been modified and you will no longer receive this error on a non-admin account. There has been no change to AppDelete itself. I recommend anyone who had this problem to re-download and the install will proceed normally. Thank you and sorry for this issue! Note: installs on admin accounts were never affected by this. This is Reggie the Developer...I'm sorry to hear you're having this problem. If you would like to send me an email I can work with you on this and if necessary send you a disk image without package for you to try. This of course would go for anyone that might be having your situation. Just click on the More Information or my name above and you can contact me there. Hope to hear from you and sorry again! REGGIE ASHWORTH Hi Factory Joe! This is Reggie the Developer...thanks so much for your input. You could say it's to offer a free choice! :D Yes I'm aware of the "other" apps, but if you're willing give AppDelete a chance? It's may not be very flashy, but give it a try and see how well it finds the associated items. You can contact me anytime. Thanks again! Reggie Ashworth (Version 1.0)

REGGIE ASHWORTH Thank you Dropspace for that feedback! This is Reggie the Developer and I have just re-uploaded AppDelete with that problem fixed. To speed things up I did not issue a new version number at this time...but any downloads before number 575 would have this problem and should download again and re-install. Any downloads after 575 will be ok. Again thank you for the feedback and I apologize for the problem with writing the log file. Reggie Ashworth (Version 1.0)
