RAYCON  I've enjoyed Cover Stream for some time, and what could be more impressive than a next-generation Cover Stream? Well, even though it's a 1.0 beta, I still feel I should offer some constructive criticism.

Functionality complaint: I DO live in the United States. Now I "need to be subscribed in order to use the Radio API"? If it weren't for the tagging (working) and adding to playlist (actually, this isn't working) capabilities, I'd go back to Cover Stream.

GUI complaint: The GUI seems nicer. Light colored backgrounds are in these days, I guess. However, I do miss the large 3D tilted album image I get on my desktop with Cover Stream. This one is not resizable.

RAYCON  Woo hoo! It works! All my old Xounds sounds work again, without APE! I hadn't tried it for more than half an hour before I paid for it.

RAYCON  Cover Stream scrobbles, and the interface can do anything from taking up the whole screen to being entirely in the background. I own both applications and have seen made my stand with Cover Stream.

RAYCON  But SoundSource has something neither Audio Switcher nor Snow Leopard has, and that's volume control sliders right in the menu.

RAYCON  Er, um, who has a 100 MB hard drive anymore? That's the size of the old Zip Disk and way less than you can put on a CD. Unless that's a typo and it should be 100 GB, no one will be able to even try this application.

OLIPOWER  Yeah. I'm with you on this one. I've been sincerely interested in purchasing this app, but I can't use the 100 MB demo limit for testing the app, and after too many stupid purchases in the past, ending up just wasting money, I've stopped purchasing "the cat in the sack" so to speak.

So, I kindly wrote the developer. And got a kind reply in return. To summarize:

"People only defrag every few months and a fully functional demo would therefore not lead to a purchase because people would just use the demo"

and furthermore:

"In order to use the 100 MB demo, you can just create a 100 MB disk image with Disk Utility"

Say what man? Will I then be able to see the speed gain afterwards, on my 100 MB disk? No. So, the demo is useless.

At least they could offer a 100 GB demo, so people could defrag their laptop drive or a smaller partition etc.

RAYCON  Please, please, please! Make this for Intel! I miss this software dearly since purchasing my new Intel iMac. It was one of those utilities I used daily.
