QUIIICK  Same over here. :(

Every new version (including the 1.0 RCs) since 0.9.9a, crashed when started up for the first time.

And when a video finally runs the audio output always stutters. Unusable. Back to 0.9.9a

Ye,s I always deleted the prefs prior to installing a new version!

My setup:

iMac '24 (early 2009)

Mac OS 10.5.7

Meteo
Sep 18 2007

QUIIICK  Yes, it's very confusing !!!

Just deleted all the Meteo(logist) versions from my shareware archive because I thought this was a new version of Meteo(logist)! Grrr !!!

"Meteo" is the name for the daily weather-channel of swiss(german) television SF1.

All the data of this widget are taken from there, so the name does make sense but still is very confusing.

@developer:

How about renaming the app to: "Meteo-SF1" ?

QUIIICK  Why can't the developer of this app use normal a version numbering scheme like everybody else, and not the date ???

This is beyond me ...

QUIIICK  I have the same problem on my Powerbook G4.

(no second monitor):

iBackup starts, but no window appears od can be shown via the menu-command !!!

There seems to be a major problem with iBackup, but it looks like the developer takes no notice ... :-(

MACUPDATE ADMIN  The file you downloaded, did it have a .bz2 filetype suffix? If so, remove that .bz2 suffix and then the .dmg will mount.

QUIIICK  Ooops!

There something wrong with the new version 3.0 !!!

I get the following errors when opening .gif-files:

The first error dialog box reads: "Simple View unexpectedly quit."

Then a second error dialog box appears: "An exception of class NilObjectException was not handled. The application must shut down."

How long will it take until it reaches version 1.0?

Image Tricks
Jan 20 2006

QUIIICK  Please add a version-number to the name of the downloadable .dmg-file of Quinn.

Like "ImageTricks_1.2.0.dmg" or "ImageTricks-1.2.0.dmg" or "ImageTricks120.dmg" or "ImageTricks 1.2.0.dmg" ...

This makes it much easier to track the versions already downloaded and it is also quite handy when switching back to a previous version, in case the newest version is too buggy.

Thanks!

Unison

QUIIICK  Setting a specific color as a result of a rule via the "other..." menu item in the preferences window does not work. It always slips back to the default pale-blue after closing the color-palette, no matter what color you choose.

Please fix this bug!

ETNIER  AFAIK this is not the case. I have encountered the problem you report on a regular basis, but as often as not I have been able to set the color after a few attempts. While awaiting a bugfix, keep trying- move the item in the list order. Try another color. I know this isn't satisfactory, but it might tide you over.

***..

QUIIICK  When uploading multiple files with Unison's newly added upload feature the included numbering-scheme should start with [01 of 128] not [1 of 128] for example.

Also IMHO the options of file-size and inclusion/addition of rar-files for downloads should be placed into the application-preferences window under a new upload-tab and not into the dialog-field of the upload-process itself.

It would also be nice to be able to add a comment-text to uploads not only a subject-line.

All in all Unison is a nice and promising usenet-client but still does need a lot of refinements.

Unison
Dec 6 2005

QUIIICK  To be honest, when I first tried Unison a few months ago, I did have the very same feelings: Lots of fluff but awkward to handle compared to the usenet-reader (MT-Newswatcher) I was using regularly back then. Also I encountered lots of time-out errors (and unfortunately still do in version 1.7.0) .

I wrote a comment here on MacUpdate some time ago which said: "... it's maybe a little bit too Mac-like: Doesn't appeal to the pro-user a lot IMHO."

I got used to Unison after having played around with the app for some time and by now changed my initial feelings about this product. But you really do have to get used to the visual approach Panic has chosen for the usenet.

Now that you have implemented upload capabilities, I will definitely switch permanently to Unison.

One wish remaining though: Could you please add an option which automatically deletes downloaded files from the list when Unison quits? It's cumbersome to always remove already downloaded files manually. Thanks!

QUIIICK  Finally version 1.7 ads the probably most requested features of all: FILE UPLOAD capabilities!

I going to test this new feature and if it works nicely I will definitely buy Unison now.

I've waited from the start for this to be implemented and with the newly added upload capabilities Unison is now finally worth the requested price of $25.

Thank you, Panic!
