PSEUDO TASUKI Huh. Never heard of LS killing anyone's OS install before. Try deleting the kernel extension. Boot off of the install DVD, open Terminal from the Utilities menu and type this: rm /System/Library/Extensions/LittleSnitch.kext If the LS kernel extension was the issue, that should make the system bootable. After that just run the Uninstall command from the Little Snitch installer and it'll clear everything out. (Version 2.1.1)

Password Generator widget | Feb 23 2009 |
As of version 1.1 it DID call home (see earlier comments). In version 2.2 the author apparently changed this behavior but didn't outline it in the description. Regardless, the app uses a network resource which is NOT secure (no SSL) in order to grab random numbers even though a true random number generator is available locally. The password generator in Keychain.app is much more flexible anyway. (Version 1.2)

Adobe Dock | Dec 8 2008 |
PSEUDO TASUKI Er, isn't a grouping of files a folder? If it's on the left side of the separator then new icons shouldn't appear after launching the applications. This app seems to be trying to fix an annoying limitation of the dock (the ability to group applications), which does nothing to fix the real issue and only replaces existing capabilities. Calories | Oct 24 2008 |
PSEUDO TASUKI If the app crashes, is force-quit or the computer kernel panics any new data entered will be lost. It seems the app only saves when it quits. This is a serious issue since this is the type of app I'd leave open most of the time. I lost three days of dieting data because of this issue. The developer didn't respond to my email. There aren't a lot of features, but it has a fairly adequate and seemingly accurate (though inconsistent) database of foods. There are likely better choices out there for this type of application. KONSTANTIN BENDER Sorry, your email must be somehow lost. The app saves all data when you quit Calories or close the main window or if you press COMMAND + S (Menu File -> Save). I'm going to add a periodic save right now, will be in the next release. -- Konstantin (Version 1.2)

PSEUDO TASUKI There appears to be no solo play in the demo. Maybe I'm just not seeing it, but it should be simple to find. When I tried playing online the game simply quit and brought up a page about GameRanger. I had to sign up for that service and download their software… after a few minutes of trying to connect to the two available servers I just gave up. Giving this one star since I can't even play the demo. (Version 1.0.1)

PSEUDO TASUKI What a beautiful application. I love that it uses Apple's FileMerge for displaying diffs (SvnX does this as well). This makes it much easier to wrap my head around large changes. Additionally, Its use of a table display for blame is inspired for both clarity and simplicity. Though I'll still prefer to use the standard CLI client for most tasks, this is by far the most straightforward and cleanly-designed GUI Subversion client I've ever used. Now I have to impatiently wait to see how much money I'll undoubtedly be spending on it. *crosses fingers* (Version 1.0b1)

Mowgli | May 28 2008 |
PSEUDO TASUKI This is an interesting idea, but not the best execution. All of the SVN commands are performed in the Finder via the right-click menu. I would greatly prefer either buttons in the toolbar or a SVN menu. What's especially annoying is that all of Mowgli's commands are buried under the "More" submenu. The installer insists on restarting my machine after finishing. That's completely unnecessary as restarting the Finder should suffice. I force-quit the installer and manually restarted the Finder and saw no ill effects. There is no documentation to speak of. If there is, I haven't seen it. No help files either. There's only one item in the settings, which changes the diff command. Surprisingly, there doesn't seem to be commands for moving, copying or (amazingly) even status. The move and copy commands I can understand being confusing in the context of a GUI file manager, but the lack of svn status cripples this software in my opinion. I've only been using it for a few minutes and thus far there haven't been any stability issues, however I'm giving it a rating of 4 for stability because of the installer issues. Overall, I gave it a 3/5, which may even be a bit generous, but it's clearly an early version and it's freeware. (Version 1.0)

PSEUDO TASUKI Odd. It's recommending I run Software Update to install Mac OS X 10.5.3. As of this moment, the latest released version of Mac OS X is 10.5.2. "Delicious Library 2 is going to scroll and zoom very slowly because your Mac is running Mac OS X 10.5.2, and we require the critical graphics system updates in Mac OS X 10.5.3. Please update your Mac to “Leopard” 10.5.3 as soon as you can, and we will automatically switch to full speed." (Version 2.0)

PSEUDO TASUKI I believe the main reason this is Leopard-only is because of how it interacts with the Address Book and iCal databases. In earlier versions of OS X there was no central database for them, so making changes would be very difficult and risky. (Version 1.0v2r1)

PSEUDO TASUKI This is exactly what a screensaver should be. Simple, low-resource and (most importantly) it actually saves your screen. Once the CRT burn-in problem was solved screensavers became toys. Backlight dimming and lifetime, however, are a new issue with LCDs. This is the only screensaver I've seen that actually does something about that. Well done! (Version 1.002)

Input Managers | Nov 10 2007 |
PSEUDO TASUKI It seems to work as advertised, it set the proper permissions for my input managers (both SIMBL and GrowlCamino), but there's two issues. 1. The name is confusing. How about calling it "Input Manager Fix" or something like that. 2. Packaging a simple and self-contained utility in a .pkg is massive overkill. The app zipped will do just fine. (Version 1.0)

SIMON MENKE I know using an Installer package is overkill but I did this more as a test for the new PackageMaker. And about the name yes it's confusing if you know what they are. PSEUDO TASUKI The second article you posted (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107822) contradicts your statements. It seems that the data exists both in the DS_Store file as well as the local Spotlight database. When editing the Spotlight comments on a remote file, the changes you make will ONLY apply on the local machine, regardless of the use of this software. If copying an entire folder, however, the DS_Store file will be transferred and the comments WILL appear on other machines. Ironically, it seems that if you use this software to disable DS_Store files on remote volumes the Finder's behavior actually becomes more consistent! I've verified that removing a DS_Store file causes the Spotlight comments to disappear from the get info window. The data is still searchable via Spotlight, however. It seems to me that this is actually a bug. Hopefully Apple will sort this all out in the next version of OS X. The best course of action would be to stop using DS_Store files altogether and take advantage of the metadata capabilities of the filesystem. (Version 1.0.2)
