PNEUSTOS  Your review was in April, and as I just started playing in early July, can't say what the game was like then. It's been through at least three updates since then, and on track to be a commercial reality by year's end, 2007. Suggest another look, I'd comment further but need to get ingame to see what's new with today's update. (thinks to himself. I'll never catch her now, always one step ahead of me, or is it two now?)

PNEUSTOS  Although Arindal is a Eoropean version of ClanLord (engine licensed from Delta Tao), it is a totally new experience for any who have played ClanLord. Although by license agreements with Delta Tao, the in game messages can only be in French, German, or Dutch, most players speak English and it is used as a "common language" for hunts, meetings with the development team, etc.

Very much a social game, with no player vs player, and all hopefully united to battle the neverending monsters and beasts which invade all parts of the land. Role playing is enforced, but there is an area where players can speak freely on any subject including out of character topics. It's also an excellent place to hone language skills. I speak English natively, but also getting a re-education for French and British, and quickly learning German and some Dutch. All ages participate, so attention to sensitive issues may be necessary.

Arindal may not have the 3D graphics many have come to like in other online games, but is constantly evolving and is expected to go commercial by year's end (December, 2007). With some funds coming in (expected cost 10 euros/month), there should be even more events, quests, and new areas. It's a never ending adventure.

I encourage all to try it, even those who speak only English. The game server and clients (available in English, German, and French localized versions) have been very stable, and run on Windows, Mac, or even Linux with a Java client, though I have heard of some problems with it.
