PIZZACAKE I use this to connect to open university servers. You have to create a settings file for each server you use by clicking advanced put the server name in the address box then click setup to put your user id and password, server ip address etc. It works but the controls are clunky and setting the view settings is unintuitive and tiresome as they as per view rather than global settings. To change font sizes for the main window go to view>change view settings. You have to do this repeatedly for different containers though thankfully once. However to change the font sizes for messages you go to preferences>content>options>zoom! (Version 10.0)

TWAIN SANE | Sep 6 2009 |
PIZZACAKE I've just tried v2.7 packages on 10.6 however it hasn't worked for me. Twain Sane used to work on 10.5 but the same configuration doesn't work on 10.6. Fortunately I dual boot (using refit efi boot menu) with Ubuntu 9.04 (fast startup, shutdown) on my MacBook 1.1 and my Canon CanoScan N670U works out the box with the SANE application that is preinstalled. The Linux application offers many more options and does a great job. For Scanners which aren't Mac supported I suggest this alternative. Afterwards simply copy the files onto a usb stick and transfer into Mac OS X. (Version 2.7)

Great concept though, I'd really like to use the scanning interfaces in 10.6. (Version 2.7)

PIZZACAKE This is an awesome app. The ability to choose different colors for black and white really sets this app apart from others. I always liked using grayscale for general computing however the universal access grayscale is really harsh to look at for a long time. By choosing softer colors rather than pure black and white means I can get the display looking exactly as I like it. Thanks to the developer Blacktree who also made Quicksilver. (Version 1.0.4)

PIZZACAKE I love this app. Looks terrific and really helps me with reading speed and comprehension by avoiding re-reading. Here's an applescript which works as follows: You copy the text (Command C) you want to be read Run the applescript which does: Asks if you want to open iReadFast if it's not open Pastes the text into iReadFast Presses the play button for you! (* Please note only run this script after you have run iReadFast at least once. This is because in Leopard the first time you run a new application you have to give permission for the application to run.*) tell application "System Events" set isiReadFastOpen to (name of processes) contains "iReadFast" set Btn to button returned of (display dialog "iReadFast is not currently running. Run iReadFast?" buttons {"No", "Yes"} default button "Yes" with icon 1) tell application "iReadFast" tell application "System Events" keystroke "v" using command down click checkbox 1 of group 1 of window 1 Paste this into Script Editor and either save as script in folder iReadfast (create if necessary) in scripts folder or save as application bundle and run from dock. Developer: Consider a service menu item that can do this. In Leopard keyboard shortcuts can be assigned to service menu items. I have a keyboard shortcut for speaking text, works very well. Nice work btw. (Version 1.2)

iReadFast | Sep 23 2008 |
GENGIS Hi PIZZACAKE, thank you for your comment, I just want to say that from version 1.12 iReadFast already creates a service menu "Read with iReadFast" (if you just installed iReadFast you may need to reboot the computer in order to see the menu). I know this is an undocumented feature and I'm going to update the program help in the next releases. Thank you for you interest. (Version 1.2)

iReadFast | Sep 24 2008 |
PIZZACAKE Just rebooted and I see the service :) However, iReadFast doesn't start reading until I press the play button. Could you change this to automatically start playing? (Version 1.2)

iReadFast | Sep 28 2008 |
GENGIS Yes, I could add an option in the preferences for this, but I believe it's better as it works now for two reasons: - Using the services menu item already makes iReadFast the active application so you just have to press the spacebar to start playing, I think this is already very straight and comfortable. - The automatic play could make you save the press of a button, but could very likely make you miss the first words of the text in case the program window takes longer to become active, or simply because you need some time to focalize on it when it pops up. Really I believe that as the program is now requires you to do an extra action, but doing so leaves you all the control and you will never have the playing started when you not expected it. I would like to know the opinion of other users about this. (Version 1.2)

iReadFast | Sep 29 2008 |
PIZZACAKE I only realised space activates play after I wrote the comment. Doh! I think the reasons you give for not automatically playing are valid. Thanks. (Version 1.2)

iReadFast | Feb 24 2009 |
ZANGIEF Assuming that users placed iReadFast in the Applications folder, you could add this to the beginning of that script to prevent the quarantine window (the window asking you if you're sure you want to run the app) from appearing: do shell script "xattr -d com.apple.quarantine /Applications/iReadFast.app" (Version 1.4)

EyeTV | May 12 2007 |
PIZZACAKE I have an EyeTV v2.4 for DTT Digital Terrestrial Television and it works great on my Mac Mini G4 1.25Ghz!!. EyeTV records the DVB stream unaltered, so you’re getting full quality DTT content as encoded by the broadcaster. I wanted to burn this mpeg2 content straight onto dvd without unnecessarily re-encoding the mpeg2 files and losing quality and time. So here is how I burn EyeTV files into DVD format losslessly using Burn at http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/21992/burn. 1. Export Recording as MPEG Program Stream 2. In Burn preferences under video select Force remuxing MPEG2 external streams 3. Select Video tab of Burn making sure DVD is selected as type and change untitled to what you want the DVD to be called 4. Add EyeTV mpeg file/s. At this point Burn will ask to save the remuxed mpeg2 file somewhere, make sure you give it a different name to the original. 5. The order of the files determine the order they'll play on your DVD. Each file will get a chapter point however Burn does not create any menus. 6. Burn or save as disc image if you want to test the DVD in DVD player first. Hope this helps someone trying to do the same, thanks to the authors of Burn. (Version 2.4 (2654))

TrackTime | May 10 2007 |
PIZZACAKE I've only been running this app for a couple of hours but I like it. It's a very good looking app and easy to use. Why name it Hora? Things I'd like added/changed: -Support for tracking firefox/opera -Does Hora connect to port 80 to get the favicon of every website you visit? I'd like a preference to turn this off. -preference for dock icon -Projects, I'd like to be able to add future events on a project timeline, in a simple way like you can in ical drag a box and give it a title, the box could be ghosted i.e. semi-transparent. Adding very simple planning functionality in a timeline view may widen Hora's appeal by appealing to people like me who doesn't need the complexity of say OmniPlan but would like to view events in a timeline view. -Timeline view, be able to shrink and expand to a much greater extent, be able to see weeks, months at a time. This would support Hora's use as a simple planning app, being able to see what was planned and what you actually did. Nice start though, well done! (Version 1.0)

PIZZACAKE Wonderful plugin. I love the thumbnail previews of all open tabs. Equally the ability to right-click on a page and export it to as a pdf. Paparazzi does something similar but does not work with secure pages because it has to reload the page. -The icon of exported pdfs to resemble the contents (like Paparazzi does) -If a pdf already exists with the same name add a suffix automatically e.g. page title-p001 -preference for naming exported pdfs e.g {page title}-{yyyy-mm-dd} MacUpdate SafariStand 2.0b17-2006-12-16.pdf -Export as webloc with an icon resembling the page. I prefer browser independent bookmarks, and currently I add spotlight comments to my bookmarks with a screenshot of the logo or page as their icon.
