SOHO Organizer

PAULKELEHER  I strongly recommend you do not buy this software! I was a long time user of Personal Organizer and was excited when Chronos went Cocoa. However the first edition of SoHo for OSX was a joke, it was so devoid of functionality. I waited until eventually Version 8 was announced as the compete product - it had only taken Chronos what, 4 years to catch up with the 'new' OS. I should have been warned off by that inexcusable delay. I even pr-ordered Version 8 thinking it had to be the one. In fact it is slow, cumbersome, ugly - which really takes some doing for a Mac product - but what's really inexcusable is it doesn't even work properly. For example, try editing phone numbers in a contact. As you delete them it merrily creates duplicates instead - after hanging for ages - which then sync, messing up your MobileMe account too and then any other device syncing as well; it's like buying your very own virus. I've no doubt sometimes it will work for some people, but it is not safe, solid software and it should not be on sale as guaranteed to work. I've tried to delete all traces of SoHo but I'm not sure my computer has recovered yet.

If that weren't enough customer support is a joke. I've posted questions and had to wait 18 days for even a reply, never mind a solution. I've tried to request help and got not reply and my request for a refund fall on deaf ears. Somewhere the developers of this software disappeared up a blind alley; don't follow them.

PEARLMAN  Much of what Paul says is true. Chronos Customer Service does not exist.

However, I downloaded 8.0.5 and decided not to buy. Buggy and sluggish, at best. I posted some comments on their site and still have not heard back from them.

Strangely enough, the bugs I experienced with 8.0.5 were fixed in their latest update 8.0.6.

The app is still sluggish at start-up and is slower than one might expect in it's use. The concept is good, I simply think they have gone over board with all of the features.

Print essentials is great. Notes? The jury is still out for me. The contact organizer and calendar have potential. Needless to say, I'll be sticking to Address Book and iCal for now and be keeping an eye on Chronos. I've not found another app that has any potential.

It is a mystery to me why Sage does not go cross platform with their ACT app.

The code in SOHO Org. must be a nightmare and I don't envy the programmers. I say, clean it up and you'll have a product. Most importantly, beta test, beta test, beta test. I get the feeling Chronos expects the consumer to do all the beta testing. This is not a formula for success.

Focus guys!

ANON BUD  I've had no problems whatsoever at all with support. It may take several days for them to get back to me, but they almost always do. They've also been very good at trying to address the issues I've raised and have fixed many of the bugs I've pointed out.

Sorry that your experience has not been a good one.
