ONTHESCREEN NAME  This great app allows you to find out what, when, plus a lot more on Apple Mac, previous Clone Macs, peripherals and devices. New Apple products can get updated into the list, too!

Essential in previewing what a certain Mac needs (RAM Type/configuration/etc.) and will be like (Start-up sound, screen resolution, ports, plus much more info), and to compare, check and reference all the vintage and latest Mac computers, peripherals and devices like the iPod family.

Definitely worth having around in your own Mac Library. Because even though you may be able to get all of this information online somewhere, it may be scattered over several sites, and maybe you will need to view the library offline, nicely and well.

Great history comments also!

Journler

****.

ONTHESCREEN NAME  You may want to just type (dated) notes, have a place to store research material, articles, files, web archives, links, or keep track of activities.

Well, you can do that quite well with Journler.

You just may need to get used to how and why you're using it.

It's easy enough to use (you'll have to edit the existing database), and make use of the Services Menu Quick/Append Entry feature, while using Journler with other applications you are using for your research or project.

The title is free for personal use, however, there will be a newer version where you must pay a fee to be able to use properly. It very well, maybe worth it.

For now, enjoy this useful note/date/journal/PIM/research nicely Mac OS X application.

Indicator(s)
Dec 25 2008

ONTHESCREEN NAME  Tiger (Mac OS X v10.4) is where and why Indicator(s) was conceived.

It is very suitable for the Dock in even Mac OS X v10.1 and beyond.

Thanks for the comments!

Even stated on the website, which is in itself in a more developing process, the application is behaving in the intended manner. In that it does not stay open, because it does not have to. (The attributes for creating a blank script with /Applications/AppleScript/Script Editor, "Read-Only" & not to "Stay Open", are as such and "normal") Plus the concept alone is enough for people to actually do this all the time; organize/efficiently use what they need to, all the time.

And in order to be stable, easy and fun (appropriate and appealing) the simplest process was used and here we are, having to discuss it.

It very may be possible and soon that a Leopard version of Indicator(s) may be on the horizon. This time actually taking up memory and staying open!

Other applications are in the works. Please develop and evolve with us!

Note: The developer actually replied to reviews on the same day as the release. However, due to some difficulty, the post did not show up.

Again, thank you, and please read all applicable information before posting! Thank you!

Indicator(s)
Dec 23 2008

ONTHESCREEN NAME  Yes, this is the first release, you guys. :)

And it was designed on, and designed for Tiger (Mac OS X v10.4).

And so it (Indicator(s) icon) is better suited to that, original-style Mac OS X v10.1 and later, Dock.

It is quite stable; as it is designed not to be opened (no window) and not distract you from your usual Dock use, it even quits and does not stay open for you. :D

Yes, there may be "features" added (in the future), like some kind of floating window, perhaps, or Dock Menu, in where it actually has to stay open (the application). However, a next version may just include an updated icon for a Leopard's Dock.

Thanks for your input,

and if I have to reply to a specific review, then I will reply accordingly. However, let me state that:

Yes, that is how an AppleScript application behaves, it just quits, when you create a "blank" AppleScript app, that is set to "Read-Only" and not to "Stay Open".

Try it out yourself; just open /Applications/AppleScript/Script Editor, Save As, set/unset previously stated attributes, enter a name click Save and you're done! However, I'd also really encourage you play around with 'AppleScript' and creating your own scripts, and maybe even getting into the AppleScript Studio documentation (a part of ADC Reference Library).

Thanks again!
