OSXFACTOR So, even at version 1.06, Espresso has no way to select a color. The color picker is no where to be found. If guess they want you to use CSSEdit. This app has a lot of promise, but stuff like the issue above, and the inability to setup an address for previewing of live server side files like PHP & RoR, make this app hard to live with for server side web development. NatsuLion | Sep 24 2008 |
OSXFACTOR NatsuLion has become my Twitter client of choice. It's on par with Twitterriffic in features, and doesn't have the annoying HUD interface. Plus, the price is right and no ads. (Version 1.8)

OSXFACTOR Panic hit it out of the park. They saw a void on the Mac for a great, "all in one" web development IDE, and they built it. This has to be the best 1.0 product I think I've had the pleasure of using. I'm still hoping for Subversion integration, and they could definitely add some more features to the text editor (HTML tidy is sorely needed). But even with those subtractions, it is still the best out there. Top notch. (Version 1.0)

OSXFACTOR Nice little tool. Version b1's warning dialog box still references SQLValidator though. Might want to clean that up. (Version 1.0b1)

Correo | Jan 9 2007 |
OSXFACTOR Great idea. I love Camino, and use Thunderbird, but wish there was a solid Cocoa alternative. If Correo can get some momentum, it could be it. Seems to handle POP/IMAP pretty well (although my IMAP folders weren't visible until I quit/restarted the program). This is a very early release, about all you can do now is setup an account, check/read/send/mail. There are no font preferences, no search ability, no tagging options. Still for a first "proof of concept", it seems to lay a solid foundation. Can't wait to see more! (Version 0.1)

OSXFACTOR Good little utility takes the pain/chore out of configuring Apache on your local machine for development/testing. It does what it does very well. My only wish is that you could set up subdomains instead of using different ports. For example, instead of having a site listed at localhost:9000, and localhost:9001, I would rather set them up as site1.localhost and site2.localhost. I can do this manually with the Apache conf file, but I wish I could do it with headdress. (Version 1.3.6)

OSXFACTOR Am I missing something? This looks like a carbon copy of the old Next Workspace manager. Not sure why you would need this when you can just switch to column view in the Finder and get the same behavior.... (Version 1.0)

OSXFACTOR Seems to be an issue w/ 1.3.5. I've downloaded and installed, but the version is listed at 1.3.4, even thought the .dmg is titled 1.3.5. When it launches, it notifies me of the 1.3.5 version, and I approve the install and relaunch. But upon relaunch, it is still version 1.3.4. (Version 1.3.5)

Thunderbird | Dec 12 2006 |
OSXFACTOR Been using the 2.0 beta nightlies for about a month now for my work email. They are solid. My only gripe is that the Mac OS X version doesn't have the visual notification window option like the Windows version does. Otherwise, a very big step for Mozilla Thunderbird. (Version 2.0b1)

NFINCH the windows notification window hasn't worked in my beta 2s for a long time--that is, you can't click on it to bring up the message it announces. also it shows about 4 messages--sometimes none of them are the one that just arrived. doesn't seem to work properly. (Version 2.0b1)

OSXFACTOR I believe they mean that it needs to be installed on an HFS or HFS+ partition. You can't install it on a UFS partition. Count me as one who is very disappointed that this isn't a UB. I've been waiting for this upgrade for years, and will continue to wait until it is a Universal Binary. Come on devs - Apple only makes Intel Macs now. If you don't have a Universal Binary ready to ship, keep on working on your app. (Version 6.0)

OSXFACTOR Great app. I've been using it for about 2 months during the beta cycle. The author is responsive to requests and bug reports. There are many other apps that do the same thing, but for what I do (web development), this app strikes the perfect balance between being simple enough to learn/use and being powerful enough to get the job done. My only missing feature is data export/.Mac syncing. Either of those features would satisfy my one request - being able to export my data easily so I can maintain it in two different places. But the author is looking in to this, and it might/might not be in a future release. (Version 1.0)

Tables | Sep 16 2006 |
OSXFACTOR I like this app, but how you can jump for version 0.21 to a 1.0 in a couple of days is beyond me. While the foundation of this app is solid, it's still missing some key functionality that I believe is paramount to a good spreadsheet like an auto sum feature. Also, the sorting behavior is a bit quirky and doesn't work in the ways that I'm used to (like in Excel, OoO, MarinerWrite, etc.). Finally, $49 seems a bit steep. Apple will have their spreadsheet in iWork in 07 and the whole suite will be $79-99. I definitely think there is a place for Tables, but at a lower price point with a few more bells & whistles. Lineform | Sep 11 2006 |
OSXFACTOR It appears Freeverse has bought this app from the orignal developer, TribarSW (which was really just the original developer). I hope the original dev was retained in the purchase, because Lineform is the amazing tool that it is because of him. Still, with more resources behind it, this could turn in the Illustrator killer. I've been using it for about 2 months, and it has replaced Illustrator for all of my vector app needs. (Version 1.2)

Yes, Will Thimbleby, the developer is still very much part of Lineform -- we wouldn't have it any other way. Glad you like it. Please pass the good word on. It's a new program and if it's to grow it needs the early users to talk it up. :-)

iRatchet | Jul 8 2006 |
OSXFACTOR 1.47 has a conflict with SIMBL items and/or Input Manager items that was preventing it from launching. Removing these allowed iRatchet to launch for me. Putting them back after initial lauch was OK, too. Once iRatchet loaded for the first time, all was well. This app kicks butt. It is such a complete solution. If you need a time/project billing/invoicing app, this it. (Version 1.47)

IONOS I only had problems when TextExtras was installed. With TextExtras, iRatchet's icon would bounce up and down in the dock for a while, and nothing else happens. Moving TextExtras out of the InputManagers folder, and everything works fine. (Version 1.57)

OSXFACTOR Nice little app. However, it would be nice to assign sites a subdomain too, in addition to moving them to a different port #. I know you can do this (thanks to this site: http://allforces.com/2005/08/23/wordpress-on-mac-subdomains/), and it's nicer than using different ports (which can get confusing after adding a few sites). MySQL | May 2 2006 |
OSXFACTOR What happened to the package installer? I installed the x86 version two weeks ago, and it had a packaged installer. I had to reinstall today (reinstalled the OS), and all of the installers on MySQL's site are command line only. I'm certain I got the Mac x86 packaged installer from MySQL's site. OSXFACTOR For all the people digging on RealPlayer, please be fair. While Real as a company gets under my skin, they produce a pretty decent media player for the Mac. It's updated frequently, solid, and makes use of some pretty cool OS X tehcnologies. Plus, it's the only way to view Real content on your Mac. Kudos to Real for developing a solid solution for OS X users. (Version 10.1)

OSXFACTOR I had the same thing happen, although I waited about 4 minutes and the system sprang back to life. b5 also gave me my first kernel panic since b1. I've already preordered this, and it's good to see them working so hard to make this a top notch product. (Version 2.1b5)

Wallet | Apr 26 2006 |
OSXFACTOR Before flaming a developer for issues you are having you should give them the courtesy of letting know what you problems are. I've had a few issues (in the beta cycle), and Dustin has been very persistent in trying to rectify them. And so what if the developers are teenagers? They are providing a great product at a great price, with great service. How old they are shouldn't matter. (Version 2.5.1)

Wallet | Apr 26 2006 |
OSXFACTOR On your suggestion, I tried Steel. It's a nice little storage app, but it doesn't have a fraction of the featureset of Wallet. It doesn't do .Mac export, it doesn't do password generation, it doesn't automatically lock the app after a certain amoutn of inactive time, it doesn't have a persistent database (meaning I have to save my data manually everytime I add something). I like the interface (very Wallet-esque), and the icon, but otherwise, Steel does about 20% of what Wallet does for 60% of the price. If $6 is going to break the bank, and you can live without all of the features above, use Steel. Otherwise, $15 is a steel for a program that does all that Wallet does. (Version 2.5.1)
