Flip4Mac WMV Player

NOOKSTER  +1 Smiley for you, a simple task for those that didn't pay attention to the installer.

I'm surprised that I my post below yours (regarding the truth about both MS and Apple's installer tactics) isn't -10 though, maybe there's more common sense around here than I give this place credit for.

****.

NOOKSTER  Updated, works the same for me, nothing exiting. Can't fairly gauge performance on my Mac Pro, but seems fine on my Atom based hackintosh too.

As for the drama surrounding the Silverlight install, big deal, Apple has been doing worse things with iTunes>Safari>Quicktime in my Windows partition for ages, Flip4Mac has been ironically nowhere near as intrusive.

Apple Safari

NOOKSTER  The quickest and easiest way to open links in new tabs with Safari is to click them with the mouse wheel, assuming you have one.

Command-click will also work if you've mapped your mouse wheel to a custom command.

Apple Wireless Keyboard Update
Apr 28 2006

NOOKSTER  Installed, works, no explosions etc.

People, if your MPBs are causing you problems, then you should hand it back to Apple, and look for a fix rather than avoiding updates and putting up with (in my opinion) unreasonable workarounds.

Failing that, get your money back.

FYI: same noise, as usual.

Torrent Station

NOOKSTER  Not perfect, but the more the merrier I say.

uTorrent is hardly a heavyweight feature-laden client, the Java mammoth Azureus is just that, and has been available for the Mac for ages.

Apple Aperture

NOOKSTERM  It IS supposed to be a high quality RAW workflow tool, which at the moment its failing to do.

And have guess what RAW supported application the target market is generally using...

NOOKSTERM  It bothered you enough to wave the copyright banner about! :D

Anyway, it's gone now. And no malice intended, by the way.

****½

NOOKSTERM  This actually runs much better than I thought it would on an 800Mhz iMac. Much better than a P4 2GHz with a GeForce 2MX.

I'm thinking that it might have been the graphics card that hammered the PC (despite the fact that all the iMac has is a 32MB 4MX).

**...

NICK MOWINSKI  What a disappointment.

I had high hopes for a comprehensive search tool, and all I got was yet another WTOWP (Widget that opens web pages), another pointless widget that does no more than a bookmark file.

I did a quick search for Aberdeen and Edinburgh, the search revealed itself to be limited to a handful of mostly overpriced hotels, and half of the Aberdeen ones were miles from the City Centre.

Avoid.
