NIGHTONE  Please direct any 1Password related issues to us please. The Camino reviews page is really not the appropriate place for this kind of thing. :)

Thanks

NIGHTONE  If you are having an issue getting 1Password to work with Safari 4 Developer Preview, please contact us at our support address. Please send diagnostics if possible. Probably an outdated file or other minor issue as 1Password does work with the Safari preview.

1. Load the main 1Password application

2. Click on the Help Menu

3. Select Troubleshooting

4. Click on Send Diagnostics...

5. Type in a description of the issue

6. Click on the Send button

Thanks

NIGHTONE  Agreed that 3DES is not currently the best algorithm out there. However, security breaches are rarely the result of a compromise of the algorithm but rather through social engineering, theft, etc.

NIGHTONE  Outside of presentations this is also great for screenshots. How many time have you looked at a screenshot and wondered what you were supposed to be looking at. I often highlight the "click here" area with Mousepose and then snap the screenshot. A deal at the normal price, an absolute steal at under $10.

NIGHTONE  Robbery is an awful strong word. If you don't find value in it, fine. As a TextExpander customer I feel it is worth $30. In fact, I would pay more for it.

Sorry, but we don't live in a world where you get name your own price on everything. This isn't priceline.

NIGHTONE  What a pleasant surprise this morning to find an upgrade to this fantastic program that included some huge new features. As everyone has mentioned, the new groups feature has greatly expanded what was already a great tool. I use it everyday all day in the course of doing e-mail support. I was using iSnip in addition to TextExpander to keep some collections of URLs and Short URLs organized by group. With the addition of groups combined with labels, TextExpander now essentially replaces many of those other clip managers as well. So iSnip is now history since I can now have these types of items available without using a key sequence but rather use the menuet to easily paste them. They've all made it easier to add other snippet sets such as the autocorrection one. (now included without additonal download)

My current stats show that I have expanded 5,887 snippets and saved 455,619 characters of typing. If you do a lot of typing, you MUST own this program.

Not only can you expanded pure text, you can insert graphics and other rich text format items. I've used this for many months now and never read any documentation. Very intuitive and I was up and running in minutes.

Finally, the price is not an issue for what you get. No one knocks a Lexus because it doesn't cost the same as a Kia. Do you want a Lexus or do want a Kia? In my book, TextExpander is a Lexus.

Click that Download button and go get this one.

NIGHTONE  1Passwd goes far beyond the standard OS X keychain in many regards.

1. Support for more browsers

2. Support for multiple logins for a particular site. For example: 3 Gmail accounts

3. Multiple identities - not just the 1 address book entry

4. Actually works on 95%+ of financial sites unlike Safari's auto-fill's 30% success rate

5. Security

I recommend that you try 1Passwd a little longer and I think you will discover that you will find it an invaluable tool.

NIGHTONE  I love Hazel. My very favorite feature is the automatic App Sweeper. I can continue to drag things to the regular trash like always while having the functionality of something like an App Zapper. I wrote about Hazel on my blog last month. You can read my mini-review here:

NIGHTONE  1Passwd is a lot more than a "Firefox plug-in".

NIGHTONE  Sometimes it is the little things that make life great. 1Passwd falls into this category. After switching to Mac in the fall of 2005 I started the journey to "replace' all of my PC applications with Mac equivalents. Some were easy such as Microsoft Office. However, at the end of a few months it became clear that there simply wasn't a replacement for Roboform for Windows. I searched long and hard and after almost a year, I ran across 1Passwd.

While 1Passwd is not Roboform, it is certainly a trusty replacement. It is being actively improved and provides the main functionality of Roboform. So what does 1Passwd do you for you?

Very simply, 1Passwd is a smart web password manager and form filler. What distinguishes this application from "other" OS X password vaults is its integration with the browser. This is the real power of 1Passwd. Once you start using 1Passwd you no longer have to remember your hundreds of web logins. You only need to remember 1 main password. (thus the name) When you browse to a site, simply hit Command \ and the username and password are automatically filled. (and submitted if you choose)

More importantly, unlike Safari's auto-fill, it actually works on banking and financial sites that block Safari's auto-fill. 1Passwd also allows you to fill web forms for orders, registrations, etc. using multiple identities. All info can be synced to multiple machines using Apple's .Mac service. Finally, 1Passwd has recently added Secure Notes to save your registration codes and other private information.

To summarize, 1Passwd does what no other Mac password manager does and will cure the addictions for those switchers who miss their Roboform functionality.
