MIKE ABDULLAH Can I please point out that for Mac apps the "OK" button goes on the far right. This isn't Windows. Plus, it would be more normal to label it "Suspend." (Version 1.0)

PETER DA SILVA It's saved as a "run only" script, but since it's just a little wrapper around "'/System/Library/CoreServices/Menu Extras/User.menu/Contents/Resources/CGSession' -suspend" it shouldn't be too hard for you to cons up an HID-compliant version. :) (Version 1.0)

MIKE ABDULLAH Brilliant, an app that refuses to do anything unless Quicksilver is installed. I do not use Quicksilver, yet the app refuses to let me do anything unless I select where Quicksilver is. I can't select it because I don't have it - load of junk! (Version 1.5)

MIKE ABDULLAH What a colossal waste of time. We really don't need yet another "one line of code" web browser that is utterly useless for any practical application. This is not what Apple made WebKit for! (Version 1.1.1b)

File Sheriff | Oct 22 2006 |
MIKE ABDULLAH Reasonable enough idea for a program I guess, but lacking in polish: * The "Comments" box keeps the arrow-style cursor when you hover over it. * The date pickers do not use my local, British layout. Every other date on my system is displayed correctly - why not this one? * You can't view a file by dragging it to File Sleuth's dock icon. You can drag a file onto the main window, but visual feedback is ever given that this is going to work. Oh, and with the MP3 rename facility, it feels rather like this feature has been chucked in to add value to the program. It would be better in a separate app. (Version 1.0)

Parallels Desktop | Sep 7 2006 |
MIKE ABDULLAH Well to be fair, I think you have to use a 32 bit copy of Windows, and that cannot cope with more than a certain amount of RAM around the 4Gb mark. I imagine that Parallels will eventually be able to fool Windows into thinking it has less RAM available, but in the mean time, you'll just have to wait I guess. (Version 2.2.1884)

Event Maker | May 2 2006 |
MIKE ABDULLAH Calendar Creator is not something I had come across before, but it is part of my eventual aim. However, as far as I can see, Calendar Creator works by simply adding the event to iCal and then letting you edit it there. I intend to do the editing of the event details within the Event Maker program itself. (Version 0.3b3)

MIKE ABDULLAH Thanks for the suggestions. I had never actually heard of this Anagram thing before! I don't intend to fully go down that route. I have absolutely no intention of expanding Event Maker to dealing with Contact information at any point. However, on the calendar events front - just wait and see! (Version 0.3b3)

httpmail plugin | Mar 23 2006 |
MIKE ABDULLAH That is MSN's policy. If you want non webmail access to your account, you have to pay them. However, they used to offer this service for free, so when the conditions changed, anyone who had used this feature was allowed to keep it for free. Rather reasonable I think. So basically, if you want non-webmail access to a new account, go with a proper provider, not Hotmail. (Version 1.48)

MIKE ABDULLAH This sounds a lovely idea, but it just crashes constantly for me! I log into my account and the little donations window pops up. However, before I can actually do anything with the donations thing, the app crashes! (Version 0.4)

Schick | Feb 11 2006 |
MIKE ABDULLAH I downloaded this and rather like it. However, one thing is that it seems to have issues with sending Applications. When you do the app shows up all the indivdual components of the application on the recieving person's computer. I do understand that this is becase you are actually sending a folder, but it is quite annoying for the person recieving the app since they have to wait for Schick to put up its notice for each of these files. Tomato Torrent | Sep 4 2005 |
MIKE ABDULLAH So far for me, this is a really nice little app. Dead simple to user, just tell it the torrent and away it goes. One request to the developer though, (I can't find his email address!). When I first tried a torrent with this app, it wouldn't work. It just sat there trying to connect to the torrent. I realised that I had my firewall on and that was what was causing the problem. So I turned it off. However, Tomato Torrent still didn't work. I had to close and then re-start the feed. So, would it be possible for a future version of the app to check if the computer's firewall is blocking a particular port when trying a torrent? iTunes does so. (Version 1.1.2)

JUICEBOX To get the torrents working you have to edit your firewalls which actually lets the files be transferred. The problem is that usually the computer will stop any files from comming in so you need to tell it what files can come in. You should visit the bittorrent website, they should have help about configuring your firewalls otherwise just type " bittorrent firewall" into google and see what comes up (Version 1.1.2)

MIKE ABDULLAH Why does this app use an installer? It only installs the application into the folder of your choice. Nothing else is installed. Apple say you should only use an installer if your app needs to install components in seperate locations. (Version 1.6.2)

GORDON The installer puts more than the Onyx application into a folder of your choice; it also puts an Onyx pkg file into the Receipts folder of the Library folder of the hard drive. Certain package files in this folder are needed by Disk Utility and OnyX to repair disk permissions (according to Onyx Help comments). (Version 1.6.2)

OnyX | Aug 24 2005 |
ANONYMOUS That is wrong. The files are not needed to repair permissions, from either OnyX or DU. The receipts are there because the package was installed. OnyX does NOT need an installer, I don't see why it uses one. It's a great app though ;-) (Version 1.6.2)

OnyX | Aug 24 2005 |
MITCHELL BENTLEY Maybe for the licensing? (May as well ask "Why a license for a free product?") Or to justify the nifty packaging software? I think the reciepts are to determine version installation for certain auto-update programs, but I'm no programmer so what the hell... It seems to work for what I need... (Version 1.6.2)

Pause | Aug 12 2005 |
MIKE ABDULLAH Do you mean the main screen of the app? If you just wish to view it, you can then simpply quit the app. The close window button is disabled because having started the timer, you cannoot then accidentally close the timer window. (Version 1.6)

MIKE ABDULLAH This is a nice little widget. Very polished. Couple of suggestions - can you add an option that keeps the rating overlap thing visible permantly? And also, write the version of the widget on the back of it - this makes it easier to tell when updates are available. (Version 1.1)

Pause | Mar 26 2005 |
MIKE ABDULLAH Dear Annon, sorry to hear about your problem. It seems most unusual that the iMac would not start properly again, even after you had removed the power cable. The sleep function in pause works simply by the applescript command: Tell app "System Events" to sleep So it shouldn't cause any problems like you've experienced unless they're Apple's fault. I have had an issue whereby I couldn't persuade the computer to fully wake from sleep (black screen, fans going but no other response, I have an iMac G4), but this was after sleeping the computer using the power button. Afraid I can't remember how exactly I recovered from that position before, I think I either had to force restart the computer, or perhaps sleeping it and then re-awakening fixed the problem. Can I ask that you just try testing this a few times more to see if the issue happens again (I suggest you save all your work first!). I reiterate that I can't see how Pause could be causing the problem, but if it is I would dearly like to know so I can look into it more. If not, it sounds like it could be a firmware issue, and in which Apple need to look into it. Mike Abdullah. (Version 0.5.1)
