MacScan
Nov 1 2009

MICG  I've used the MacScan demo and it worked surprisingly well. It found tracking cookies, no trojans or anything else (fortunately).

I just ordered the full version and will write a review of my use of MacScan soon.

I was really impressed by one or more times reading forums and a MacScan Dev or Rep would chime in and give their e-mail and more than kindly offer full support to the poster with some sort of malware on their Mac. I've ordered it because there is a lot of identity theft out there and most of the time cookies need to be enabled. Who doesn't download all sorts of files?

MICG  Great utility! I love the features, ease of use, and speed of this utility! My second registration for a second Mac.

I've been using Socks since 1.2.3, and I can say it's been the most stable utility for Mac OS X I've ever used. It does everything I need + more. I recently had some issues with some corrupted files, I ran the Preferences utility and it locked up, unfortunately. After I restarted Socks it corrected the issue =]. Thank goodness! I've had other utilities that I've used in the past and I've trashed most of them. I had lost almost all faith in Mac OS X maintenance utilities, until one day I found Socks by googling accidentally. My maintenance routine and stability of it has never been the same! - It's more stable than it's ever been! To the Dev: Thank you and keep up the great job!

Also, thank you for supporting PPC Macs, even down to 10.3.9 (Which I still use and totally enjoy)!!

No, there still is no documentataion, but remember, google is your friend!

MICG  The new version 2 will be a major enhancement over the current Classic

theme. There's also the modern theme. - There's also other themes you can download.

MICG  Best web browser of my choice.

I use it always.

The online community is tremendous, the updates are regular, and the power of this browser suite is amazing. When they go to v2.x.x I'll upgrade. I'm happy with this browser. It generally blocks out the pop-ups without all the add-ons. (I don't like add-ons)

DockFun!

****.

MICG  Very handy and useful Dock integration for Mac OS X. I can now start

getting rid of all the alias' on my desktop and gain some real estate.

I recommend getting this Application utility over many other utilities, as this is high quality, the developers are always hard at work and this is just a plain useful utility for home users to professional. Great enhancement to my everyday usage. It takes a little while to get used to it, but it is DockFun!

MICG  Great utility to have for older PPC Macs running Panther at least!

I've always appreciated the quality of Donelleschi software. There's not

many software developers that offer this level of quality for Mac OS X.

I don't remember any Donelleschi App. ever crashing on me. - I've got the V2 bundle.

For intel Mac owners it probably won't work, but with multiple cores, why would you need this anyway?

This is an older Mac OS X utility from Mac OS X's younger days. Find something else for 10.5 if you want something, but any Donelleschi software is worth a try. Check the System

requirements of the App.

MICG  Nice program features, however ver 2.7 will eventually corrupt it's own

data! I'm searching for something else now.

It's been a shame Mac OS X has such a difficult time with the keychain, Filevault, and password storage apps.

MICG  0.3.4b Worked flawlessly on my G4.

Nice output and simple.

If you buy new RAM or used this is the utility to have installed to test

it. Don't waste time with RAM when you buy it, test it ASAP and get

your $'s worth. I've been fortunate to never have had defective RAM, and

testing it just confirms it. I'm happy.

MICG  Great to have a KJV Bible for Mac OS X!

Bible Viewer is simple enough to use, but pretty generic.

I would be nice to have some viewing options and customization of colors and Fonts like Bible Viewer 2.01 for Mac OS 9.

Hint, hint =)

MICG  How about your review of Socks(?)

Just because all the big shots aren't reviewing it, doesn't mean you

should be criticizing our reviews does it?

MICG  Ack!

Completely, and I mean completely locked up my Mac G4 like no other

system maintenance utility ever has! Mac Janitor did the same when I tried out a newer release of that!- Ack to that too!

The only good thing is it has an uninstaller.

Cocktail locked up my main account and my Administrator account at the same time! I had to hard shutdown. I tried everything I could figure to avoid a hard shutdown - Quit Finder, Command+option+esc. - nothing would budge.

Socks from MKD has been good though. As with most all these types of utilities everything practically grinds to a stop. It's deceptive as compared to the MacOS9 utilities when everything quit on the desktop except the utility and the Finder told you it would quit everything for you. With Mac OS X everything just kind of turns stagnant. I hate that, but at least when they work they work properly (hopefully)

The only other System utilities I'd recommend are your Mac OS X install disk utilities, DiskWarrior, Drive Genius (booted), AppleJack,

and Socks.

Good luck and knock on wood if you use Cocktail.

MISHA  If both Cocktail AND MacJanitor are locking up your Mac, I'd be inclined to say the issue lies at your end with your OS installation and/or possible extras/hacks you might have installed.

Did you contact the developer? Thousands of users have been relying on Cocktail for years (like me) without nary an issue...

A 1-star review because of an issue with the app is a bit unfair, in my opinion, unless the developer was outrageously rude to your support inquiries or ignored them outright.

PandoCalendar
Aug 15 2009
*****

MICG  Very, very high quality Application for Mac. (It's also available for Mac OS 9 and Panther on pandacorner.com)

I have searched the web back and forth trying to find Applications for Macintosh with a Christian theme and PandoCalendar fits perfectly for

what I've been looking for! =) I love this calendar with it's Classic styled balloon notes like Mac OS 9's help balloons! It's so cool and such a blessing in my daily life especially with the C.H. Spurgeon's: Faith's Checkbook built into the App! Wow! That totally blew me away with blessings! Thank you Panda Systems, for such a blessing and an Application I finally really, really like! Did I mention it's FREE?

I cannot recommend this calendar enough. Compared to iCal, which is a secretary's calendar on steroids, this is a cool glass of water!

Awesome!!!!

MICG  Great web browser for Mac that has had a long support time for the earlier Mac OS X versions!

My wife uses Camino and rarely, if ever complains about it.

She gets everything done with Camino. Blogging, ordering, browsing, everything. The G4 optimized build was great too!

Socks
Dec 18 2008

MICG  Socks is the best Mac OS X utility I have ever, ever used.

The options will be very clear for anyone coming from Mac OS 10.3.9 Panther, using the "sudo periodic" command in Terminal and other Mac OS X hacks, via the command line.

There's so many options to use to make Mac OS X customizable too.

It's been fun, helpful for correcting problems, and the best of the best utilities I could ever recommend to users of Mac OS X who want to maintain, customize, trouble-shoot, and keep their Mac OS X volume running trouble-free and fast. I tinker, so it's a necessity. It's nice to stay out of the command line, and not to have to re-do things when I can just launch Socks and get the job done.

Highly recommended!
