MAZZBOY  I would like to give this 5 stars for everything, because it really has cleared up a lot of space on my hard drive, which I'm very pleased about. However, I've noticed programs crashing a lot now, when before they didn't.

MULLIN  my apps ran responsively, after slimming off un needed code, but did you optimize the Hard Drive?

it should fix the crashing problem.

XSLIMMER  Hi Mazzboy,

Usually, apps that perform some sort of startup check and have not yet been added to the blacklist refuse to start at all, but it's very rare that they crash due to having been slimmed down. Please, note also that no system libraries or components should have been touched during the process.

Could you please contact us so that we can follow your case? We'll try to identify whether there's something going on that could make your system crash.

Thanks!

ShapeShifter
Apr 16 2007

MAZZBOY  It's great fun to change the same old boring look of OS X but be aware that it can cause problems with some software. I thought my Final Cut Pro was broken and sat here reinstalling everything, looking for help in the apple forums, when eventually it turned out that if I disabled ShapeShifter everything was fine again.

So basically what I'm saying is, if you are using it and something stops working properly, you can just disable it while you're using that application.

MAZZBOY  Yeah it works fine. But how do I remove it if I decide I don't want to use it anymore?

LIFLI SOFTWARE  Hit Command (Apple Key) and Return to see the Charlotte search bar, click the seach Icon at the left of the search field. This will pop a contextual menu. You can select multiple options from here including quitting the application.

AppleJack

*****

MAZZBOY  I'm so pleased to have found AppleJack. I've spent a fair amount of time trying out other similar things but none of them have quite done what I've wanted, unlike AppleJack, so thanks.

It at first seems a little scary to the casual OS X user, in that it runs in single user mode, which I'd never seen before, but once you follow the simple instructions of restart and hold command S, it couldn't be simpler. Mac OS X's Disk Utility annoyingly would tell me that a volume needed to be repaired and then wouldn't let me, but AppleJack found a way around it.

I was beginning to get worried about my laptop but now all the bugs and things here and there that just didn't seem right are all fixed.

Again, thank you.
