MATHIAS RHEIN I am wondering what the advantage of all these concentration and focussign apps is to single application mode? Honestly, this never got me into even spaces, since single app mode and an intelligent app switcher like with do the job for me... Can someone convince me of the opposite? (Version 4.5b)

MATHIAS RHEIN Actually, what You have there is the ultimate no-frills file manager- try typing in "pag" and pressing enter and left arrow- you will get a list of all the recently opened files with pages WITHOUT OPENING PAGES... this is just the kickoff, check out the help to learn more tricks You will not want to live without! Things for iPhone | May 12 2009 |
MATHIAS RHEIN As You can see from the former reviews opinions really differ on this app. To me in contrast to the rest this is the best GTD app for Your mac/iphone, especially if You also have the Mac application. In comparison to OmniFocus, which I also own, Things is not giving you the restrictions other GTD software requires to work- although the tagging features and lists make this app an intuitive pro planner for Your GTD system You absolutely do not need to use it that way. So happily implement Your own workflow and enjoy the freedom Things is offering You! In contrary to the other opinions I think the programmer are doing a GREAT job in updating the app with useful features while keeping it fast, clean and not as overloaded as OmniFocus. Syncing is a breeze and considerably faster than OF, while data entry is as structured and detailed as You want it to be- point taken, if You are using this app and not already have a good GTD discipline Things for the bad of it all will display exactly this type of structure- but exactly this mirroring actually helped me visualize mistakes in my own planning and helped me overcome it thereby! So, for me at least, this app is sitting in the menu row of the iphone and is indispensible! (Version 1.3.4)

Path Finder | Aug 5 2008 |
MATHIAS RHEIN This program is as amazing as stated by the follks before me, but let me tell You why i am NOT flying high as the previous owners... I licensed PathFinder now over 1 1/2 years ago, beign equally amazed at the sheer power to do anything inside one app... BUT the price for it is that PF is THE biggest resource hog I have ever encountered on my PB 12"... I know that this is not state of the art, but for people not able to afford the latest hype in hardware this is important. In noticing that what I basically wanted was a two-pane finder (2Finder here at MU)that simply adjusts two Finder panes in the best viewable way while still remaining responsive and snappy... Your mileage and hardware may vary ;-) (Version 4.8.5)

EASER For a decent 2-pane program, take a look at ForkLift. It's fast, has a nice interface, and has some decent customization abilities. (Version 4.8.5)

MATHIAS RHEIN I wish I could say that it didn't bother me... So thanks, espiridon, for keeping spirits high ;-)... it is somewhat sad that information is not taken as such but as some weird kind of warfare... (Version 4.3.1)

MATHIAS RHEIN while I agree that it has nothing to do with Quicksilver You cannot deny the fact that the rudimentary function of this, an accessible clipboard, is implemented into Quicksilver- I really don't want to cause any trouble here, but the function in Quicksilver is totally sufficient for me... MATHIAS RHEIN I don't know the software, but people searching for a basic cliptboard feature don't need more than Quicksilver has to offer- aside being a launcher, execution and search tool etcetcetc... ;-) (Version 4.2.5)

OmniFocus | Nov 19 2007 |
MATHIAS RHEIN Now this is the most complex simplicity I've ever used- I tried them all: ReadySetDo!, frictionless, finally iGTD which came very close to what I would consider intuitive and easy organizing--- and now Omnifocus is simply passing them all without effort! You really have to have tried this if You're trying to follow David Allens amazing guide to stress-free productivity, "Getting Things Done!" You don't know it? This program needs no knowledge up front, although having an idea of the logistics behind the structure improves on Your awe for what Omni are about to deliver here in January... Having followed the development process through its earliest alpha stage I have watched this grow into a ful fetched GTD system that is as convenient as it is reliable. To some of You who know what I talk about: - SEEMLESS Ical integration! You choose what calendar the task belongs to- and instantly you have a structure to follow upon in Ical - instant note taking through always-accessible input window -mail support (great to have in combination with Mailtags or Mail 3.0 from Leopard! - saving of individual views for instant focus on what YOU decide -attach (almost) anything to Your actions: addresses, numbers, files, URLS...etcetc - sleek program that does not block your machine while working- so predestined to remain instant- on I could go on and on... the best fighter in the ring (followed by iGTD) Try it, love it, use it to the max- and honour the amazing work of omni- enjoy! MATHIAS RHEIN I am using RSD now for about half a year, reading David Allen's book that laid the base for this app. RSD's approach is absolutely inspiring: let's take what is there and mold it into a productivity system that improves scheduling and achieving goals. starting off as a crude list of scripts the system got very fast very complex right now reaching far beyond the scopes of 90% of GTD programs out there. The beauty still remains the fact that You put the basic OSX folder architecture to Your use... - the good: this thing is crash-proof if You work it in the paths intended as well as totally version- independent- all versions of OSX, provided they still work with folders, should run this system! -the bad: ...is mostly the good which is true for this idea as well: modifications as moving Your home directory could cause major trouble in even installing the scripts, not to tell of running them summing it up i think this really has a big potential for (Version 1.2)

MATHIAS RHEIN Path Finder somehow really puts the finger on some of finders flaws- still I am one of those Norton Commander children who are totally banned from the Mac, it seems... so for single window file browsing Pathfinder is best there is! Still marvel how they manage to keep it so tactile in spite of the LOAD of features it harbours! I'm in the boat! (Version 4.7.2)

MATHIAS RHEIN Found this while searchig for a dark translucent theme ("dark glass" ... it really is matching what I was searching for.... This skin is amazingly simple and on its own focusing the concentration through its subtle darkness. Also the only dark theme that is "bearable" over longer periods of time- I believe the only thing beating this is going to be Leopard, that is, MAYBE ;-)... Had some issues with the menu points being all dark while I am using a dark background as well... didn't quite work out the help the author seems to proivide for this issue in the theme- but I can live with that... there are no MAJOR glitches like in all the other dark apps...

MATHIAS RHEIN This software just works so nicely and fast- I mostly enjoy that no system files are changed while applying the mods. Best of all, depending on the applied skin You'll notice an increase of speed in the GUI- just try it and get Tomorrow 2.0 and You'll be amazed... cheers, mat!-) (Version 2.3.1)
