MATHIAS  Just tried it out with DaVinci Code (R2/Germany) and it failed. It stopped after 10 minutes due to bad sectors thanks to RipGuard and ARccOS. This app will not handle the latest copy protections so don't waste your money on this software

MATHIAS  solved it:

show package content/lang/

copy English.lang and rename it to Undifined.lang (NOT Undefined.lang!!! It's wrong english but it has to be "Undifined.lang")

works now

I guess it doesn't like Germany too much =)

MATHIAS  All I get is this when I start the app:

can't open file '/Application/DVD Copy/DVD Copy.app/lang/Undifined.lang' (error 2: No such file or directory)

What a great piece of software =)

MATHIAS  1. Launch Apple Script Editor

2. Enter this exactly as follows…

tell application “QuickTime Player”

present front movie scale screen

end tell

3. Save the script as an application (I save it as “full screen” and just keep it on my desktop).

4. Open the movie you want to view in full screen in Quicktime and then double-click on the apple script application you created.

5. Enjoy

MATHIAS  I've had it! I splash out €75 for my MX and Logitechs software won't manage to let me use all of it's features bug-free. 2.1.3 always unexpectedly quits when I try to set up the buttons. Logitechs software just keeps getting worse.

MacTheRipper
Jan 3 2006

MATHIAS  The developer of MacTheRipper used to be my hero until he realised what an amazing money-making machine he actually had in his hand. As Of MTR 3.0b he is only handing out betas of v3.0 if people donate to him. He has managed to find a loophole in the legal system and as long as no mention of a "fee" is mentioned he is in the clear.

I myself have donated, along with others, and I ask myself this: when exactly will MTR 3.0R13 ever be released? When the "donations" start slowing down? Is it the developers intention to get rid of all the bugs in MTR 3.0? Why get MTR to a final release when so much money can be made with the betas?

What came first? The chicken or the egg? i.e. did the developer want help the Mac Community so that the big greedy DRM-Crazy companies couldn't screw us over that easily or was there always the thought of getting Mac-Users so hooked on MTR that they would be willing to "donate" money even if they didn't see any results for months on end? Everybody has the right to ask for money for something that they invest their time in but with the developer of MTR I do have my doubts.

To think that I used to choose "the great fighter for justice" in the poll.

STEFAN LANGFORD  um, no... not at all... he needs the donations to be able to fund his time off work to find sufficient time to iron out all the little niggles with 3.0R13... yes, R12 has been out a long time, but hes not a pro developer, and he has to support himself and work, so progress has been slow. Happily, hes got nearly enough to take time off and finish off R13...

Oh, and he has every intention of releasing 3.0 final as soon as he can... and even more importantly, for free...

NILENT  2.6.6 works fine; if the developer gets paid by those able and willing to do so for his time in putting together a newer/better version...I have no reason to begrudge. In fact I say thanks to all! :-)

If there is a human race extant in a thousand years; it'll be (in great measure) because we will have learned to share more and fear less.

FELIX01  Well, if you really "have doubts" as you say, then why don't you post the 3.0 r12 download link in the clear and see if that speeds up r13 any.

No, I didn't think so. You don't want to be blacklisted from getting the latest and greatest betas as a software donor, do you? And I suspect you also feel that a developer deserves due compensation for his work.

Personally, I think the developer is moving along about as quickly as I would expect given that he's doing the coding by himself and in addition to his day job.

Give the guy a break. He deserves a life outside of MTR.

SMTIPS  MTR has always been great. I try to pay for and donate to the software makers whose apps I use on any kind of basis, as long as the app isn't bugridden and actually works. I only have this question for Mathias: Does it work good for you and are you using it? Everything else you said is immaterial. Does your phone work and do you use it? Does your Mac work for you and do you use it? Who cares what motivates a developer to ask for a donation? If you got something and it works for you and you use it, then why would there be a problem helping fund future development?

MRFISCK  I got similar thoughts as Mathias.

The developer - geezerbuttz - shows us a large ego right now and he is talking a lot of b*s*. And now and everyday third day his computer equipment fall apart and he is asking for more "donations".

And what about all this justifying nagging from himself and from [fake] members about he being an amateur. You do not have to *behave* like an amateur even if you in the traditional sense are one. His internet forum at ripdifferent.com seems like a yes-man club. Halleluja great GB. The "discussion" might be set up as a play for the ordiance. Very sectarian bulls**t not like how I am used to how strong, fresh and dynamic other mac user forums are.

The current product seems unreliable as a swiss cheese full of holes. I tried to rip two different 3 year old DVDs with v3.0b13 but the ended up unreadable by DVD readers. However the old [v2.2.6.] and free version did the job fine. Have av funny thought that this guy now might be held as a hostage by the big companys and that he agreed to play a game with the p2p users giving the industry some extra time to improve the anti-piracy technology.
