I tested FileSync 1.1 to see if it would make a copy of a folder from my iBook G4 to an external USB HDD. WARNING:: File Sync does not do work correctly, see below for details. I selected the Master and Copy folders and pressed Sync. Installation was easy. Setting up the pair of folders to sync was easy. Test (1): Initial Sync seemed to go okay. It was a file-by-file copy. Saved library file upon exit. Good. Test (2): Re-sync, with no changes. FileSync went through checking the list of files, and seemed to copy nothing. Good. Test (3): Renamed 1 file on Copy side. FileSync renamed the file to match the master. Good. Test (4): Deleted 1 file on the Master side. FileSync ignored the change. The copy side was NOT KEPT IN SYNC. It should have deleted the file from the copy side, but it did not. No further testing done today. The program does not do a proper job syncing two directories. It fails at it's most basic function. This is a show-stopper, so I gave it low marks on everything. Serious! |
