Path Finder | Oct 10 2009 |
MACSWEEP I have tried this app, but it would crash or hang several times a day. I emailed to developer on several occasions, but they could not give me any help. They just said they could not test every model of Mac and those were the breaks. I uninstalled it, but, since then, every once-in-a-while I get something weird going on with an application or something in the System and I track it down to a file or pref file that is trying to reference PathFinder. Hope they get the bugs worked out. This app seems like it has such great potential. (Version 5.5.4)

StevePerfect | Oct 10 2009 |
MACSWEEP StevePerfect is great for editing in the SimpleText format. When I upgraded to Mac OS 10.5 I had to delete the "steveperfect.plist" file in the Preferences folder in my home account. Before that StevePerfect would crash on launch with Mac OS 10.5 and later. I don't care about the other features like controlling iTunes or playing a audio file; and I haven't even tried the internet Radio feature. For my purposes StevePerfect a good piece of software, and it's free. I'm now waiting for a universal version to be released. (Version 6.5)

FLAVUM If you haven't actually used the program, how can you rate it? Crashing on launch is certainly a problem, but that's hardly enough to garner a 1-star rating. (Version 2.01.202)

MACSWEEP Don't waste your time trying Mom's Mail! This application does not function as advertised. It will not get mail. It does not have copy or paste that works. It will not send mail. It launches, windows open, and it saves information, but won't download email or send email. (Version 0.5b)

Bento | Mar 11 2009 |
MACSWEEP Filemaker marketing says Bento integrates with Address Book. It does not. Address Fields in bento cannot access data stored in Apple's Address Book nor vise-versa. The only way to access Address Book data is through the bento side bar and then it can only be accessed manually. Since I don't use iCal a can't comment on the integration between them, but based on my experience with Address Book, I would guess it is severely limited or non-existent. •Can't print mailing labels directly. •All phone number fields and address fields default to "work" - cannot make a "custom" the default. •Developers do not respond to feature requests or bug fixes. Otherwise it is pretty and most other features are easy to use. I give it two stars because of the false claims Filemaker makes about the integration of Address Book. (Version 2.0v3)

Accordance | Jan 15 2009 |
MACSWEEP Accordance, in my experience is for people who want to study what other people say about the Bible. That's why there are all those modules with other people's opinions says and means. It is not easy to use for actual studying. My experience with Oak tree has been very poor. The forum moderator is a very sour person refusing to let someone on the forum unless the person's email reflects a "real name". Their support is also bottom of the barrel, I could not get anywhere on a issue where the app wouldn't load strongs number's. There is also no user documentation to speak of on their web site. When I asked about a real tutorial about proper search syntax I was told that there is no need of a tutorial. The built-in Help files are also useless for this. (Version 8.1.3)

SEAN0629 Unlike most Bible software programs, Accordance keeps the Bible central. Additional study resources are available, but the Accordance philosophy is "The Bible is central!" (Version 8.1.3)

Accordance | Feb 27 2009 |
SEAN0629 Also, OakTree (the company that develops Accordance) is extremely responsive to users of Accordance. The User Forum provides a place to interact with other users and the developers. Post a question or comment and one will likely receive a response from one of the developers or even one of the owners of the company. They are also very responsive to requests for new features and modules. As for documentation, Accordance comes with an extensive help file that contains information on every feature and often step-by-step directions. Accordance can't be beat! (Version 8.1.3)

Accordance | Apr 5 2009 |
KABING I agree with Sean0629. My experience with Oaktree and Accordance has been quite positive. Yes, the Accordance forum does request that everyone use their real name, and I don't have a problem with that. Like Sean, I have to say that Accordance does indeed keep the Bible central. While I refer to some of the reference modules on a regular basis, I work primarily with the Biblical text itself, and Accordance is ideal for that. Oaktree continues to expand the resources available to learn Accordance. There is the built-in help, including an extensive tutorial, several pdf guides (which are slightly out of date but still helpful), a tutorial DVD (whose "chapters" can now be downloaded), a "Beginning in Mark" tutorial, and a new series of webinars, which are recorded and made available for download if you can't make the time of the webinar. (Version 8.2.1)

Accordance | May 2 2009 |
FINROD63 Accordance keeps the Bible text(s) central. Then there are also tools, such as dictionaries or commentaries, that can be opened by triple-clicking on the Bible word or Bible verse reference that you want to know more about.
Accordance has full tutorial, that can now be watched on youtube at the channel AccordanceBible.
Last but not least, all people of the Accordance staff I have talked to have been very nice. (Version 8.2.2)

Accordance | Nov 14 2009 |
M. LUTHER Sorry Macsweep, but it is apparent to any outside observer that you just have an ax to grind because you were denied access to the Oaktree/Accordance user forums. So you come here to post a one star review of the software because of that policy? Don't know why you are so concerned about using your real name in that forum, but it is easy to see your "review" really isn't. (Version 8.4)

MACSWEEP This is very handy to App and best of all it's free. Usually very accurate. However, there are numerous zip codes that are not listed, some of which are Wesley and Lowell, Maine and of the 3 Oakwoods in Ohio, only 1 is listed by FourOneOne. It would be even better if the user could reverse look-up. That is, input a code and have the proper information come up. (Version 1.0.1)

Radiologik Scheduler | Jul 24 2008 |
MACSWEEP Seems like a promising app, yet it needs more flexibility in time intervals. Only 30 and 60 minute available time slots. user has to make up the difference in an iTunes playlist and import it. If i play a lecture it may not last to the exact 30/60 minute schedule. (Version 1.0b12)

JAY LICHTENAUER The 30 and 60 (and now 90 and 120) minutes blocks are just structures. You can do anything you want to the second for start, stop, even intelligently fill searching for the perfect time-fit song so it ends naturally at the exact second you want. (Version 1.0b23)

All2MP3 | Jun 30 2008 |
MACSWEEP First, I was trying to convert WMA files to MP3 files. All2mp3 left about 13% unconverted WMA files. It also left duplicate named and sized files with "#0.txt" added to the end of each file. Also, the mp3s that were created played "jaggedly" - that is, the sound would stop and go, stop and go, very rapidly. (Ta-da-da-da.) There is no option to set the destination folder for the resulting files. No option to set bit rate to lower than 128. (Version 1.04.1)

MACSWEEP Best thing you can do to inhance Safari. Makes searching multiple seach engine easy. Should be part of Safari from Apple. Apple should license it from the developer for all updates to Safari and as part of Leopard. And to top it off, it's free!! (Version 0.62)

MACSWEEP I can only speak from limited html experience, bt TextMate, while pretty good and while I'd like to say it's great, it is not that user friendly or intuitive. I can't fot the life of me figure out what some of the little graphics are in some of the submenus. The Find command does not find things that I can clearly see. It says "Not found" and its right there in plain sight. It may be that it is feature-rich, but I can't find the features. Developer, Take a lesson from Taco HTML Edit. Amadeus II | Jan 7 2006 |
MACSWEEP Been using Amadeus about 4 years. It's getting better, but, I must say though, Sound Studio is better for *editing*. With Amadeus the user cannot easily play over and over again a selected portion of a sound. Sound Studio will play only the selected portion as many times as the user wants. However Sound Studio is more than twice as expensive and does not have as many features as Amadeus including some denoising features. Amadeus needs easier denoising abilities. (Version 3.8.5)
