MACSRUS  I see the many uses for this program...but I personally hate VisualHub.

I have an iMac and am borrowing a Sony handycam DCR-SR42 camera from a friend. Watching the videos on a PC, the quality of the video was great! Watching them in VLC on my iMac, great quality! Obviously it records in MPEG-2 so that won't work on the iMovie though. So I bought Visualhub after hearing all the praise from reviews and friends who use it. Here's what I found.

I put the settings all the way up in visualhub...go nuts, all that fun stuff. I converted one of the MPEG-2 files to one that worked in iMovie, and the quality of the video sucked! It looked like it had been recorded on a cell phone.

If you are converting files of DVD's you've ripped to your computer I could see how the quality would be fine. But if it's everyday camcorder movies, this program is going to ruin your life. The quality of video after conversion is absolutely terrible.
