I started up from 10.6 and when I tried to launch Cocktail 4.5 I was given an error saying "Cocktail cannot be launched from this Mac because it's not compatible" or something alone those lines. This would be a shame if the developer is doing this intentionally. (Version 4.5)

MACTECHHEAD I guess the people below need some cheese for their whine. As pointed out in the description, this does more than what the OS X and Finder normally do, learning to read would be a good choice for Tod below. LOL I do technical work, so for me his was a no-brainer. My clients seem to feel better using this instead of trying to use Terminal or other tools. 3 of my clients purchased this and all 3 loved it. It's easy to use and saves me the trouble of explaining how to do this for themselves with Terminal, cache cleaning tools, or reminding them to use the secure empty trash for additional security when deleting sensitive files. Rock solid and worth a 5 star review for the all-in-one approach. (Version 1.0)

MACTECHHEAD Ignoring the trolls and the ignorants below. Path Finder 5.1.5 is working like a charm for me with 10.5.8. No major complaints. But I have a question for the team developing it. Does Path Finder preserve the special permissions used by OS X system components? I can't recall if this was fixed or brought up as an issue before. But I remember trying to copy some OS X stuff from one drive to another and the special permissions were lost after the copy. I don't use this method to copy OS X components but might consider it since it would be easier than using CarbonCopyCloner instead. (Version 5.1.5)

Without the ability to choose low quality, medium quality or high quality output files, I really don't have any use for this handy tool. MACTECHHEAD You can't read too well . Ho hum. Nothing new. Try reading my review carefully before spouting about gibberish. 10.6 is gearing the Mac community towards true 64 bit coding, there is none in this software. I couldn't care less if it's slower or faster because that wasn't my point earlier. You also proved my point that VisualHub still does a much faster job. Considering the source for VisualHub is freely available and a new project has adopted the source. I think I'd rather wait for that project instead of wasting time on this slower shareware program. And just because Apple discontinued support for PowerPC computers with 10.6 doesn't give developer's the excuse for dropping support for them too. That's just an insult to all the people that paid for software only to be slapped in the face. There is no reason why to drop support for them. How hard is it to download the specific ffmpeg file for the computer it was being used on. An optimized ffmpeg file for PowerPC and one for Intel. Or is RealBasic that hard to understand considering that was what iVideo Converter was written in. But you are right about one thing. I didn't bother to check the preferences options where I found the multi-core support checkbox you mentioned. Had I known of it's existence earlier I would have used it. Which proves another point about laziness on the developer's part for not having the software prompting me when I launched the program if I wanted to use more than one CPU to speed things up. MACTECHHEAD Some peculiar things said from the developer makes me wary of the program now! Developer claims to have changed the coding to make it faster. In reality there is no difference to the 32 bit Intel coding in version 2.0 or version 1.3.7. The only difference now is the newer ffmpeg file used and no more PowerPC code. I did a test a run on version 2.0 and version 1.3.7 on my iMac and there was no noticeable speed change. The developer says this new version is ready for 10.6, no it's not because where is the 64 bit coding???? Previously I would have given this tool 4 stars across because VisualHub even being defunct beats the snot out of iVideo Converters converting speed. But for this really odd claim to drop PowerPC support to make the program faster when in reality it doesn't make the slightest difference. I now give this tool a bad rating for sheer laziness and for misleading people! (Version 2.0)

BARRY COONY For a techhead you do not seem to understand the difference between 32bit and 64bit. A 64bit compiled app is not by definition faster then 32bit compiled app. On the contraire - it is mostly slower because of the larger chuncks of memeory it has to deal with. And a OS X 10.6 is also not by definition 64bit. Xcode still lets you choose 32bit or 64bit. As of the speed issues. I got really faster converting times but you have to enable multi core support in the prefs. I have send the developer a mail to make this enabled by default. It beats me why he/she didn't do this before. (Version 2.0)

I have stated that the GUI (read: looks) is more geared at OS X 10.6 and never said the front-end is 64Bit compiled code. OS X 10.6 is all about HUD windows and therefore I opted to implement this. I also mentioned very clear the FFMPEG is Intel optimized and not the GUI. After all, FFMPEG is doing all the hard work not the frontend. The FFPMEG binary is compiled with several x86 optimizations (like enabled MMX etc..) Tests of several beta testers reported speed increases for all codecs. About Multi Core disabled by default. If you know some two bits about video encoding you surely know when using multi threads with encoding can result in artifacts. This is a known problem with all video converters. That's why it is disabled by default. I have never wrote I will abondon PPC users. Support is still valid for those users and there will be bug fixes if needed. I will release 1.4 for PPC only very soon. This will also have the new GUI. Why I do not make a synchronized UB version? Well, there are a lot of problems with the latest source and compiling it to PPC. If anyone can do this .. I will regain PPC support. But as far I know this is not doable. Hopes this clears some thing. (Version 2.0)

Default Folder X | Aug 17 2009 |
MACTECHHEAD I have no use for Default Folder because I created a symbolic link for all my work folders on my desktop. If I need to save or load some work files it is a non-issue for me. I tried Default Folder for a week and then removed it. I did purchase this software for a family member and they enjoyed it immensely. For that family member I give this software high ranks. But to boldly claim the Finder lacks something this software offers is misleading. Not everyone has a use for Default Folder. Some people will benefit greatly from Default Folder and some people have no use for it, like me. I still rate this a 5 star software for all the people that will like it and use it. MACTECHHEAD Geeze what dumb questions below. Why not ask the developer to change rain water into oil too. LOL Pacifist is a must have tool for anyone that knows what it does. The simplicity of being able to extract a single file from an installer package without doing a full install is ingenious or using it to install something on another drive after the installer refused to install it is also very handy. Charles Srstka my hats off to you for this timely update and getting it ready for 10.6 before it even starts to ship. Pacifist is well worth it weight in gold or even platinum and this tool has no competition despite the dumb suggestions above for tools that pale in comparison. Excellent job again Charles Srstka !! MACTECHHEAD Initially I got the same SIMBL error as another reviewer below had too. I really don't have much use for this plugin but was curious how well it worked for future references for clients. I had to manually open the contents of the plugin and modify the info.plist and change the MaxBundleVersion line from 5528.16 to 5531.9 I would suggest to the developer to change that line to something like 9999.9 to avoid SIMBL automatically annoying users by disabling iPlace every time Safari 4 is updated. Gave iPlace a good round of tests with Safari 4.0.3 (5531.9) running on Mac OS X 10.5.8 with a iMac Intel CPU. No complaints and everything worked as it should for me! (Version 1.0.2)

Bunker Run | Aug 1 2009 |
MACTECHHEAD Very close to my old favourite side scroller Armour Alley but not quite there. There are so many differences; - Armour Alley used to use the Tab to change the helicopters direction - There were more bombs, there were more missiles, my weapons didn't hurt my own troops, my missiles used to fly off the end of the screen at the right unless they ran into an enemy troop or vehicle or enemy bunker or enemy helicopter instead of just dropping onto my troops LOL - AA had 99+ levels instead of 20 - AA had different colors for the enemies on the screen instead of being the same as my troops colors. The enemy ground units are the same green as my troops. - AA's radar was box was black with light colors for units to make it stand out more, - AA had more weapons, napalm, mines and some others I can't recall - AA had helicopter , gun , missile and armour upgrades Bunker Run to me just feels under powered and lack-lustre , I won't give it a bad rating but I will also pass on it because this game just feels too unfinished with zero replay value. Keep trying though, with a little work this could easily become the AA of OS X finally. (Version 1.0)

ST00P!D M0NK3Y It's faster than Safari in most cases that I've been browsing. Ugly UI? Get a new theme... I'm using the Camino Camifox theme to look like Camino. Too many crashes? It hasn't crashed once on me. Sounds like a personal issue. Too cumbersome? In what way? You can customize it to your heart's content. Too many headaches? From what? Not knowing how to use a computer? Too much like a Windows app? Feels like a Mac app to me. You're comparing it to the much slower, much uglier version 2? Version 2 was a vomited up, lazy coding diarrhea that really did feel like a Windows app being ported over. Wasted bandwidth? 17MB? Are you on dial-up? Sounds like nonsensical dribble to me. This isn't even an opinion. You give a 1 star review and this is your review? Ridiculous. I switch between Firefox and Safari out of boredom. Neither crashes on me. (Version 3.5.1)

ST00P!D M0NK3Y Oh and I missed... "too many versions". In what world is that a negative against a program that's free with a company that is constantly improving up the browser to bring you as much security and stability as possible? Would you rather they not update for years at a time... letting issues that users are having fester without being resolved? What kind of half-assed logic is that? (Version 3.5.1)

your comment gives me the impression that you should replace the RAM in your computer :) Firefox is stable and does the job good enough. It may be not as pretty as Safari (agreed) but this is just personal taste. (Version 3.5.1)

MACTECHHEAD I never tried the old version discussed below. But I really liked this version. Did exactly what I wanted with great results. Excellent product and well worth the asking price. Thanks for the great work on PhotoZoom Pro !! (Version 3.0)

The Cheat | Jul 13 2009 |
MACTECHHEAD Good idea bad implementation I gave this tool a try, and it failed me miserably. But I won't do a negative review if the developer is keen on changes because The Cheat does have potential. I tried iHaxGamez which puts to shame The Cheat ! With iHaxGamez you search for the number in the left, wait for the game to change that number and then pause it and use iHaxGamez lower right search box to with the new number. So easy that someone even made a video for it - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YRUs8_tZI4o iHaxGamez - http://sourceforge.net/projects/ihaxgamez/ So if the developer really wants to make The Cheat worth using, I'd suggest following suit with iHaxGamez and allowing a search to compare the changes, otherwise people will be blindly changing numbers at addresses in memory or crashing their games. NIL00 You can search and narrow down results with The Cheat. Programs can be paused with The Cheat also. Check the manual in the help menu under "Searching For Variables" if you are stuck on figuring out how to narrow down results. -nil (contributor to unofficial 1.2.3 release) (Version 1.2.3)

MACTECHHEAD Not bad at all. I just gave the 2.0 version a test run and I like the fact these handy commands are in my menubar instead of launching any applications for them or even worse Terminal. But my only complaint is the price, I think when my trial time runs out I won't be buying this. Too expensive for my tastes for what little it does that others do for free. For $9.99 I would have bought this but not for $20 , economical times right now dictate I save my money and use it wisely. (Version 2.0)

MACTECHHEAD Horrible program The interface is disgusting and cluttered plus the program is unreliable. The expensive price tag this deserves 2 thumbs down and 2 middle finger salute to the developer. I still stick to the defunct Still Life I paid for years ago which a lot less bloated and still works perfectly for my needs. Thanks but no thanks! (Version 4.2.5)

MACTECHHEAD Reverted back to Vuze 4.2.0.2 and everything is working perfectly again. Thank god they have a Source Forge page for prior versions - http://sourceforge.net/projects/azureus/files/ (Version 4.2.0.4)

MACTECHHEAD Damn it, been using Azureus / Vuze for for years, this latest update is now non-working for me. It won't connect to any peers. Bummer, now I gotta track down an earlier copy prior to 4.2.04 that was still working properly for me. iMac-Intel with 10.5.7 and all the latest updates, and yes I tried using the NAT/Firewall test, changed the port # , test passed, applied the new port # and still nothing. Peers show up and all of them are not connected or still pending.

MACTECHHEAD Not only is this game so cheesy it makes limburger smell like roses but it's just pathetic. Even if this game was for free, it still wouldn't be worth the time wasted downloading it. Give up and move on. (Version 60301)

MACTECHHEAD I haven't had any problems since using version 4.0 and the newest 4.0.2 is equally as fast and stable for me. I don't use plugins and didn't experience any of the problems related to the 2 recent updates. Super fast and rock solid, no complaints from me. Although I would have liked to get my old progress bar during a page load instead of the lame thing it uses now. (Version 4.0.2)

MACTECHHEAD This new version is a vast improvement over the last version. A couple more tweaks and this would be pure perfection for me. The new search string highlighted in color is nice but would be better if we could control the color option though. I would have preferred using a dark red instead of a bright blue. The list view is greatly improved with the ability to move the columns and resize them but it would be even nicer if we could control those columns by turning off the ones we don't need. I only like to know the name, size and location of what I was searching for. And I would have preferred to see my searches sizes shown in megabytes not in kilobytes. An option to turn toggle either MB's or KB's would be nice. All in all, no complaints. Some minor tweaks and this would be the perfect search tool for me. But as it is now, I will continue to use my own home-made Realbasic program I compiled instead which has my own features albeit in a far bigger bloated program. Thanks for the great effort in improving this all the same. (Version 4.5)

MACTECHHEAD I don't see a point to this any more with USB drives being so cheap now. You can make your own diagnostics flash drive with all the tools you want on it for the price of a cheap flash drive. (Version 2.0.1)

MACTECHHEAD The same old B.S. page after page. Safari crashes too much, well duh, stop using all the lame 3rd party plugins or bitch at the developers of them to make them stable. Safari has never crashed on me like Firefox does. I had zero, nada, zilch, nothing extra installed in a few versions of Firefox 3 and they all kept crashing constantly. I filed about 2 dozen bug reports and the problems still persist. Safari 3 or 4 never crashed on the same pages and I never had as much grief from a browser as Firefox gives me. (Version 3.5rc3)
