MACTEAM  Hello,

I'm the product manager for AOL Desktop for Mac and when you use Pacifist, the .AOL Desktop.app file is the standard technique used by many Mac apps. When installing a new update, we make sure the entire file is installed before removing the older one.

This is a standard procedure for Apple's DMG packager. You don't want to install a partial app :)
