MACLOVIN  Love it. It would replace that God-awful GMail Notifier if it had Growl support.

Also, is there any way to set what browser it uses to open your inbox? For instance, I use a Fluid SSB, and I would love it to open my inbox in the SSB rather than my default browser.

MACLOVIN  Of course you can get busted using Bittorrent. Certain things are just inherently safer than others, though. Using a private tracker with an encrypted connection is about a million times safer than downloading from some guy via LimeWire. If you want to keep using Limewire, whatever; I was just trying to help.

MACLOVIN  It's not social status; it's common sense. I go to college and every single year, about twenty people are busted for sharing something using LimeWire. Not a single person is caught using Bittorrent. It amazes me that some people still don't make the connection.

CORPSECORPS  Maclovin, "If you still use Limewire, you really need to reconsider your life. This is 2008, people." in no way sounds like an expression of the fact that you may get caught if you are trading illegally.

The difference in someone's security who's trading illegally with Bit Torrent versus the Gnutella network is marginal.

MACLOVIN  Any chance this could be made a bit more compatible with other tagging apps, namely Quick Tag? I would like to use QT for most, but look to this one for suggestions. I'd rather be able to control the format of the tags ( instead of {}), place them in the grouping section, and mark them off with something like . Also, is a pkg installer really necessary for this?

MACLOVIN  This puts Safari's webapps to shame. Custom icons, cover flow previews, the ability to change the user agent signature, amazing URL shrinking and revealing, making embedded or menu bar apps, everything. I made one Safari webapp, and trashed it almost immediately. It's like using a Fluid SSB with zero features.

MACLOVIN  This app is great. I bought Snapz Pro X from the MacHeist II bundle, but I just can't get into it. I don't like that you can't preview movies, mainly. This seems so much easier to use, has never crashed on me, and seems on par with Snapz in terms of features. A bit costly in my opinion, though.

MACLOVIN  Thank God; Transmission 1.0 is finally here! Most of the visible changes appear to be interface changes Download speeds seem about the same, but connecting to peers seems a bit slower. Quitting is now accompanied by a "Quitting" tag on the icon, an upload/download ratio is shown, and of course, the entire interface has been made very futuristic looking. Can't say I'm quite a fan, but whatever; it doesn't confuse or mislead. There is also the ability to add color tags to downloads. All in all, a decent release. At least no functionality is broken like in...ahem...0.95...ahem, but I loved the old interface.

MACLOVIN  Great functionality to add to Tiger (and probably Leopard; I've never used Spaces)! I'm just learning the ropes and I'm beginning to customize more and more, but I've run into a few problems. Switching desktops while Quicktime is in fullscreen mode drags the window into the new desktop. Also, in the Customize Desktops window, none of my desktops show up to be edited/removed. Also, some of the items in the menu just flat out stop working after a while. While typing this, I tried to access the "About," screen, but clicking on the choice in the menu did absolutely nothing. All in all, good but buggy. Please keep up development! I would love to donate, even.

MACUPDATE ADMIN  From the 'What's New' section of the MacUpdate product page for VirtueDesktops:

"I am not picking up development of VirtueDesktops again, but there were a couple of really good patches submitted that address serious crashes. If you have any issues with this release, please understand it is wholly unsupported."

Reading between the lines, it seems apparent the developer has no plans to continue development nor support of this software. Of course, people do change their minds, and perhaps if enough people show support by contacting the developer via comments posted to his site, he might resume development. Who knows.

Hmm, I sense sarcasm!

From the website:

"I am not picking up development of VirtueDesktops again, but there were a couple of really good patches submitted that address serious crashes."

Even if he isn't picking up the development, clearly there is enough demand and enthusiasm out there that someone decided to pick up the slack. My post was kind of an open wish to whoever submitted the patches.

MACLOVIN  Can't beat the price, and the quality is great. The interface is so much better than the 0.x versions. Seriously, it's gorgeous. The two icons in the dock glitch seems to have been fixed. My only problem was a few of my channels not being available, but that's nothing to worry about for now. I can live without one or two of them.
