MBHOCKEY Disappointed that it's one year since I've tried this app, and it STILL cannot create proper DVD discs from video_ts folders that work in set top DVD player. I remember it was a problem with Tiger's burning framework, was this not fixed in Leopard (i'm running 10.5.1). (Version 1.0.2)

MBHOCKEY Such a great app. Probably the only app besides Safari that I have used since the day I switched to Mac. Can't say enough about the program, and the community that supports it. Keep it up! (Version 1.1.2)

MBHOCKEY GREAT app. Slightly cryptic, but very powerful. The only bad thing about this app is the lack of documentation...but once you fumble around with it enough you see how valuable it is. (Version 0.9.9)

MBHOCKEY Very fun UI. Clean, crisp...easy to navigate. A true revolution in terms of disc burning apps. Great job, devs. My only qualm with this app is that: 1) I already paid for Toast (heh...not your fault!) but seriously.. 2) Burned DVDs from Video_TS folders do not play in an xbox 360. Now, i know from speaking with the devs of Burn that this is caused by a bug in the 10.4 burning framework that hasn't been ironed out yet....i'm assuming Disco makes use of Tiger's burning framework too. This means I can't buy Disco until Leopard comes out and (hopefully?) fixes the disc burning issue. But other than that -- great software (as usual) to this development team. I am eagerly awaiting updates to this program, and new releases from these guys. Great stuff. (Version 1.0.2)

DVD2oneX | Feb 27 2007 |
MBHOCKEY Been using this program from version 1.x. Has worked almost flawlessly. But i'm a bit disappointed in the direction it is going. Firstly, the newer 2.x UI is completely hideous. It is the epitome of an ugly Windows program ported to Mac OS X. The "wizard" look is a complete step backward compared to the 1.x interface. The second thing is that this program costs a pretty penny and is becoming obsolete as newer copy protection schemes are being churned out each day by the movie companies. It simply crashes on newer DVDs with no explanation of why, and it has to do with the team not developing the program further to handle these new schemes. I know it is not a DVD ripper, but that is no excuse for DVD2OneX's inability to handle newer titles that have quirky IFO files in them (even after they have been SUCCESSFULLY extracted by other means.) With the developer making good money off each license of this app, it is not too much to ask for to have this functionality added. (Version 2.1.2)

MBHOCKEY Is there anyway you could have this as an MenuBar item, with a slider of presets? I think that would be ridiculously useful -- it wouldn't take up space in the dock and it would be easily accessible all the time. Any chance of something like this being implemented? This is the only program i trust to change my color settings (Version 2.0fc2)

SKYNITE That would be a Mac OS X "Status Item" (it could also be a "Menu Extra," but Apple is discouraging this use). Doing so would require that I invest in some software that costs about $200.00 US, which I might be willing to do if enough Pro registrations come in.

MUDFLAPPER I think people's disdain for this developer is exaggerated, if not completely unfounded. He's never stolen code. He gives credit for any open source he uses. And he adds something those open source apps need badly: a gorgeous, intuitive Mac interface. You think coding is hard? Try design. If it weren't for designers, we'd be living in a much uglier world. And we'd all be using Windows. Oh, almost forgot to mention, Inquisitor ROCKS. I do feel like it's reading my mind sometimes. It's almost creepy. (Version 3.0v42)

SJK Something caused this developer to earn a negative reputation so maybe some of the disdain isn't as exaggerated or unfounded as you might think. (Version 3.0v42)

Inquisitor | Jun 11 2007 |
MUDFLAPPER Yes, the developer uses open source code from Transmission in his app, XTorrent. He also uses code from Limewire in his app, Acquisition. Both apps are credited in the "About" menu. Some people don't like that the developer charges for those apps when all of the code isn't his. I have no problem with that whatsoever, as long as the developer credits the authors of those open source applications and doesn't steal any code. I've read posts by angry customers that say the developer just "slaps on" pretty GUIs over existing apps, then charges people for them, but that's way too simplistic. I can tell that he puts a lot of hard work into his apps—it shows. Limewire and Transmission are decent apps but I prefer XTorrent and Acquisition because they have fantastic added features as well as gorgeous, easy-to-follow interfaces. (Version 3.0v42)

MBHOCKEY Rey, i am having the same EXACT problem. I copy and paste the code, hit enter, nothing. Just sits there. The OK button is greyed out. Pretty annoying. I just emailed them. I hope they get back to me soon. I'm also pretty adept with Macs and tried everything I know. As far as i can tell this is a problem with their program. (Version 2.6)

MBHOCKEY He's referring to the fact that you do not get any extra features by registering the product like the developer suggests. Therefore, he believes it should not be "Shareware" but rather "Donationware". (Version 130.4)

MBHOCKEY Great Program...i had one poor experience with the developer a while, while back. But there is no doubt that his software his amazing. I like all of his stuff, actually. he's a very talented individual, and really gets how to program for Mac OS X. This is easily the best working and looking filesharing application available for MacOS X. i had the unfortunate opportunity to use some 3rd party programs on Windows recently, and i just wanted to say its developers like Dave for the Mac that show just how much better even 3rd party apps are for our systems.

MBHOCKEY It's not a waste of dev resources because we're not actual Adium devs :) It's a friendly fork off the official adium project. The main devs don't want to incorporate this into Adium because it would take a lot to do it right, and they have a lot on their plate (as always) with such a big project. _That_ would be a waste of dev resources. MBHOCKEY Great software. I began searching for alternatives for USB Overdrive when it starting forgetting my tracking speed upon disconnecting/reconnecting my mouse. It would also happens sometimes when logging out and back in. Anyhow, SteerMouse is wonderful. I love its ease of assigning buttons, its reliability, and the ability to assign application specific commands for my buttons (Yes, i know USB Overdrive does this also). However, most of all, i like its cursor speed/acceleration options. My mouse has never moved smoother, or more accurate. Thank you for this software. (Version 3.2)

I bought the first version of this software, it was $50 (and there seems to be no price break for previous owners of this guy's software). Even then it was pricey, and before Popcorn was released. I would save your money, and get Popcorn. Yes this program was good, but Popcorn and Toast will do MORE than this program for a fraction of the price. Maybe this guy made a mistake when he did the Frank to USD conversion? (Version 2.0.2)

MBHOCKEY I'd like to retract my previous comments. It does not seem to be the case, that it's 100 dollars. On their site, it's 39.99 and 25 to upgrade (Euros). (Version 2.0.2)

DVD2oneX | Jan 9 2006 |
ROBINGO88 Not sure where this $100 figure is coming from... just went over to the developer's site and the program is about $60US for new users and about $30US for an upgrade from version 1.x... i'm no defender of this developer (there does seem to be a -if i can't reproduce the problem, the problem doesn't exist- attitude, and the program has become distincly less mac-like in the user interface... but with a Quad G5, this thing swings, and lets you choose every combination of title and cell (and audio track) without making you pay more (like DVDRemaster does)... but at the end of the day, its just a tool... if you don't think it's worth the price, use a different tool (Version 2.0.2)

MBHOCKEY I'm curious if you just completely disregarded my immediate correction? (Version 2.0.2)

DVD2oneX | Jan 10 2006 |
NIKODEMUS Yeah, I bet it swings on a Quad...but it'll swing even faster and faster with newer hardware on the way all the time. I'm just really glad that this developer has taken the time to make use of Dual CPU's and Dual Core and Quads, so far there's very few out there that even care. (Version 2.0.2)
