Type: ReviewDate: 30 Apr 2008 14:49it is wengo just renamed, but no differences with the previous software ...
I switched for a long time to Gizmo that works really better, even with a Wengo VoiP account !!

Type: CommentsDate: 10 Apr 2008 07:09To get the functionalities of OW in Safari :
- PitHelmet ($10), Safari Block is free, but equivalent to OW ad blocking features. CutX ($19) is even better, but more expensive too than OW alone ...
- SafariDepot (Free)
- TabStop (Free)
- DownloadComment (Free)
- SafariPlus (Free)
- SafariStand (Free)
- Saft ($12)
To make it short, even if they are a lot of free plug ins, to get absolutely all the functionalities of OW in Safari, it will cost you more. A single paying plug-in is almost already the price of OW ...
Firefox is free and can be enhanced by a lot of free plug-ins, but what a so heavy browser .... And it becomes even heavier every time a new plug-in is added, plus there are sometimes conflicts between plug-ins ...
Camino is free, there are a few plug-ins available and free too, but it will not compete with OW functionalities.

Type: CommentsDate: 10 Apr 2008 04:26for me very stable, nothing to compare with previoous versions, almost never crashes, even really really less than Safari, and it never freezes too.
This 5.7 has been really improved in speed and stability.

Type: ReviewDate: 17 Feb 2008 15:56I am very dispointed with this latest release of Office 2008.
It is supposed to be an Intel native version, but it is so so slow ......
Even on a G5 ...
It is simple the old MS Office X of November 2001 is a Ferrari compared to the 2008 ! Knowing that it will also run in Rosetta mode on an Intel Mac !
That not to speak about the instability, the numerous bugs, the end of the VBA support ...
Excel is a model of slowness, complex calculation on several cells will be almost immediate in Office X or Office 2007 for Windows, but can take up to 30 s for the same in 2008 ! Unbelievable ...
It will even be faster using Office 2007 for Windows through Parallels !!
The Exchange support for Entourage will not work as good as it was expected, so the compatibility is there but not very good sometimes ...
Word will systematically convert the pictures pasted in it, something that didn't happen in previous versions, not to say it will crash if the document becomes to much huge. Plus the compatibility with other documents realized with previous versions of Word or from Windows version is very bad sometimes.
Powerpoint, same problem, plus it becomes almost unsable after 8 slides !
Plus it is even not supporting complex scripts languages a very long time request on OS X, since the MS Office X version of 2001 ! But excepting in PowerPoint where Arabic or Hebrew can be used, we don't know why M$ permit it there, but not in Word, Excel, nor Entourage ....
And why M$ put the pages elements on top of the document window already stuffed with the toolbars, so less space of display, while almost every body has a wide screen now !
So I have request for refund because the cosmetics changes are not enough, we were waiting for more than this.

Type: CommentsDate: 7 Feb 2008 15:38I tried to use the software, but it doesn't work, it is unbelievably buggy, impossible to play a movie it will never show any window, only the prefences ...
Also it doesn't seem to be able to read subtitle file s what is desperatly missing in QuickTime.
If I pya a software it's for feature that are missing in others, paying just to catalog my movies and see a nice front .... well I don't care.
So why should I pay, vlc is working pretty well, of course cosmetics in less, but it works and ofers more features and and can read subtitles.

Type: CommentsDate: 7 Feb 2008 10:40I tried it and don't have this contextual menu behavior, it works great, anyway, you have 2 solutions, in the installer, you make a custom installation and uncheck the contextual menu integration, or you simly remove it manually from the library folder and that's all.
I removed it because i don't need it.
deskUNPDF works very well anyway.

Type: ReviewDate: 19 Jan 2008 12:43This software is a really piece of crap ...
It could be very interesting, but crash all the time, the bugs are never corrected, when you relaunch it it sometimes loose your account and you have to reconfigure all, you don't know why, and this bug has never been corrected ...
Updates are all unstable as the hell ...
The interface is ugly, unconvenient and messy ...
trashed, no way to get something usable one day after all the updates ...

I would more convenient and more simple to use a panel like in all the softwares to let you decide which kind of units to use and then the software will adapt.

Type: CommentsDate: 13 Jan 2008 16:51It is a very good software but it is lacking of this :
- Snapping much be improved, when starting to draw from a point, it is not highlited, no way to force a perdicular from any line or drawing to any line, no tangent, no parallels tool.
- Snapping to intersection, middle, extremity works only when it is the destination point, but not when it is the initial drawing point.
- No Snapping enabling with a modifier key.
- No linked dimensions.
- No dimensioning tool like area or perimeter, no dimensioning style settings.
- No import/export symbol collections.
- No numeric input for objects.
- No B-Spline.
- When applying effect to image or vectors they are downscaled in bitmap objects ...

Type: TroubleshootingDate: 4 Jan 2008 12:24they are not !
the only way is to use the data entry in meters, but all the software remains in feet, all the windows, everything, and the scale is still in imperial system ... You can't use a scale for exemple 1/100 in meters, you need to convert it first.
In the preferences, there is no way to select or to set up which system to use ...
If there is a way to change this, so it is really not intuitive ...
Sorry but a software that cannot use accurately the international is simply useless. The world is not resumed to the US ...

"Sorry about the broken link everybody, but I removed the file in panic after experiencing some file corruption on my NTFS volume when running VMWare Fusion VMs from there.
The release can still be downloaded here:

If you want to performance test it, or test it in other ways, please do. Reading should always be safe, writing should be safe mostly. I have stress tested the file system but I can't reproduce this particular issue yet.
I just don't want to make this release official with such a strong suspicion that it contains bugs.3

3D modeling program Rhino coming to Mac
The popular 3D modeling program Rhino will be making its way to Mac OS X in the near-term, with a public beta due to arrive shortly. Currently a Windows only product, Rhino can create, edit, analyze, document, render, animate, and translate NURBS curves, surfaces, and solids. It also supports polygon meshes and point clouds. Apparently the Mac OS X version of Rhino will ship with features that are designed to take advantage of technology available exclusively in Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard), due in feature-complete beta form during next week's Worldwide Developer conference (WWDC) in San Francisco
Architosh spoke with @Last Software (developer of Rhino) CEO Bob McNeel at COFES, reporting "Bob was -- like most developers considering the Mac platform -- cautiously optimistic. The same thing could be said of the Alias folks prior to bringing Maya to Mac OS X, or IMSI/Design with TurboCAD. And UGS' decision to fully support NX 5 on the upcoming Leopard OS is also guarded with this mixture of caution and optimism."
Additional features of the Rhino application include 2-D drafting, annotation, and illustration; ability to ix extremely challenging IGES and mesh files support for wide variety of 3-D digitizing arms, 3-D scanners, and 3-D printers; and ability to scale performance to slower systems.

Also, when I see the reactivity of the supported softwares compared with the reactivity of them running in Parallels with Windows running in back ground in the same time .... I remain dubious ...
Actually the virtualisation with the Coherence system of Parallels is really really more usable than CrossOver as of stability, as of reactivity and integration.

Type: ReviewDate: 21 Dec 2006 08:13For me it is very stable on my both PPC and Intel Macs.
Intel demo supports PNG, both demo versions will be updated soon.
The developper told me also it will be more integrated in Mac OS X for next releases, not done yet because it is cross platform, and Mac needs a special development for that, but planed anyway.
missing localization.
At this price, it is a better software than photoshop elements or GIMP, and accessible. i think some comments should remain reasonable compared to the price and the available functions and the ease of use.
Wait for the Mac OS X desktop integration and we will see.
"
new versions for MacOSX, both PPC and Intel can open/save PNG files.
These are available for customers for now, but new demo version should
be available shortly.
I'm planning to add native Menubar for MacOSX, but since you know Pixel
is cross-platform this is another difference I have to handle on Mac.
There is a preview when you open files, simply expand the File open
dialog by clicking on "<" button and make sure "i" button si turned on.
Regarding other problems, those are fixed constantly so every new
release is better and better :)

Type: ReviewDate: 1 Nov 2006 14:05The best virtualization software i have ever seen !
I tried it before it's official release, and after a short time of use, the first thing I did was to order !!
I use everyday at work to run Windows XP to access the Windows only estmating/invoicing software we use on the server plus to run AutoCAD 2006.
Simple, I never had just a crash with it !!
And it is even more faster that almost all the PCs there are in my compagny.
The only thing import, RAM, give it a lot of RAM and keep enough too for Mac OS X, and you will never have surprises.
Excellent product and sold for an accessible and reasonable price, especially compared to the power and the quality of this product.
Maybe one thing I would like to change, the interface to manage VM, it would prefer something like Q, that looks better. But after, it works perfectly and this is the most important to me.

Fast and well integrated in the Mac OS X environnment and really respect the GUI.

Type: CommentsDate: 21 Jul 2006 13:03The interest of TabDrawer is to be able to hide it unlike iTunes and Mail, and also to have a preview a web page.
OmniWeb has been the very first browser to introduce this feature and all the others are copying, begining MS IE 7.
And if you read the doc and known how to use it or very tried it, you would have seen that it is possible to have tabs only without preview ...
Just click the second tabs icon in the top of the sidebar.
