M-1  Well that's the beauty of free trials. You can try it and if you don't like it, you don't have to buy. The same apply to Billings 3 - existing 2.x users get a full 21 day trial and if they don't like the new Billings, they can easily revert back to Billings 2.x. You just have to rename a backup folder that we create during the upgrade process.

This is also the first time we are charging for an upgrade since 2005. The upgrade fee is fair and like I said - try and if you don't feel it is worth it, just revert back. You have nothing to lose.

FONGD  Sure, you can trial Billings 3 before committing to it, but suggesting that you can "easily" revert back to Billings 2 if you don't like 3 is somewhat disingenuous because there is no "downgrade wizard" (AFAIK) which means there is no way to keep data that you may have created using the Billings 3 trial (and running both 2 and 3 at the same time is not possible). The only way to "revert" back to 2 after using 3 is to constantly rename the Billings data folder when switching between versions 2 and 3, and (manually) make sure that your entries are in sync between the two versions. I'm not suggesting that the trial is useless, but suggesting that it's an easy process to revert back is a little misleading, IMHO.

M-1  There is some information disconnect here. Unfortunately MacUpdate crawls developer websites to see if there are any changes and automatically adds a version. In many cases they don't list the changes that have been made. We just weren't ready to update MacUpdate today.

We've made a lot of changes to address the many requests (and criticisms) made here and on our forums including such major things as statements, pro forma invoices, recurring invoices, consolidated invoices, a brand new interface and much more.

On our forums, the same issues and questions kept coming up over and over. We didn't answer each thread - we just went ahead and did the work to make those wishes a reality -- and it was a lot of work. We'd rather ship than talk.

This version is well worth the upgrade fee.

M-1  First of all - our apologies.

The license system does get a bit confused when you mix upgrades, dl, dps and dmi. It was our attempt in trying to make things easier.

It works fine if you just have dl & dmi separately or dps licenses.

We will working to resolve this.

In your case, I think the best thing to do would be to swap out your licenses. Please contact us and we will make that happen.

Once again - please accept our apologies.

M-1  Not to worry. We have improved our support processes (we have more people now). There was a bit of lull after Billings 1 and that was because we chose to completely re-write the report engine and it took a **lot** longer than expected.

M-1  I read your review in utter amazement. I can't believe what you are saying. So since you are in Toronto - I (the president) will personally come to your office and see how Daylite does not work right or if it loses data. I want to see it with my own eyes.

Contact me directly and I will pay you a visit.

Also - just to be clear - we have a toll free number for paid support contracts - free support is via email. That is reasonable considering the price of the software.

I'm waiting for your call or email (aj at the company name dot com).

M-1  Try v3.0.3. We fixed a crashed that occurred if you enabled 'assistive devices'. Some apps auto enabled that system preference so you may be unaware that that preference is turned on. In any case, that issue has been resolved. That is the only known causes of multiple random crashes.

Let us know if 3.0.3 does not resolve the crashes.

Thanks.

M-1  iCal sync will come towards the end of the year when we support sync services. That will be a free upgrade for registered 3.0 users.

With the release of 3.0, you'll have the ability to import and export iCal files.
