M!K3  I'd rather meant Cmd+< (the < key is right beside my left shift key).

FREEBSD  you can dig up the x48 program that might still be available on hpcalc.org for Mac OS X.

This is a nice program too, by the way.

If you want to give x48 a much needed update, I'd be very interested as well.

M!K3  Well, I've tried to do some basic things like updating my working copy or getting it to connect to our https-repository. But no success - I just did not found a way to tell Syncro about the location of my credentials.

**...

M!K3  Well, a good file manager is still my most wanted missing application for the Mac. On Windows I'm using Altap Salamander (former Servant Salamander), but nothing comes close to it on the Mac.

Compared to Altap Salamander's features muCommander looks like a feature-crippled, 5-year old version. Sorry - I removed it from my disk.

Opera

M!K3  Since Safari does not allow me to block ads, I've tried Opera. This was a good choice as a browser (BTW, its the only one I know which can render the acid2 test correctly).

Because I also had some problem with Thunderbird, I'm glad that Opera has an embedded e-mail client which is very cool - although a little bit different approach than others (view filters instead of moving messages to other folders).

O5220803  I agree, Opera is becoming a very slick browser on the Mac.

NEONBLUE2  But Safari does pass the Acid2 test as does everything else based on a WebKit version equal to or greater than the one used by Safari

SJK  I'm genuinely curious how much it really matters in "practical" terms that a browser passes Acid2. AFAIK IE6 is still the dominant browser and that it doesn't pass Acid2 doesn't seem an important issue for most of its user base.

SMTIPS  Excuse me, did you say IE6? This is a mac site. IE was discontinued for Mac with version 5.23 I believe. IE6 comparison to anything Mac is not worth the mention.

SJK  Excuse me, do you judge people's comments/questions without understanding them? I'm well aware what site this is and, AFAIK (I didn't bother looking for actual stats, wherever they are), IE6 *for Windows* is still the dominant browser, period. I only mentioned that to formulate a sincere ("genuinely curious") question about the relevance/importance of Acid2 on *any* platform, not instigate a platform-specific browser comparison argument.

M!K3  I'm using Thunderbird since a couple of years on Windows. It was naturally, that I give it a try on the Mac. Unfortunately, it is not as good usable as I'm used to it. Is it just me that I can't easily switch between windows (e.g. from main window to new-message window) with the usual keystroke?

FOLLEREC  If you want to switch between windows of 1 application, you use the shortcut "CMD-`" (that's the Apple key + the reverse apostrophe key, next to the number 1, right above the Tab key).

Pressing CMD-Tab switches between applications and not between application windows. Or is that not what you were asking? =)

SmartCVS

*****

M!K3  Well, I'm using smartSVN (their Subversion client) for some time and I'm very happy with it. Now we had a project for CVS. It was natural to give smartCVS a try. Incredible, what these guys squeeze out of that old VCS! It's by fat the feature-richest CVS client I've found - what other CVS client can show you change sets or incoming changes (except the one in Eclipse)?

There is only one small issue: compared to smartSVN it is quite slow when it refreshs the remote states (causing new revisions/files to show up) - at least on our large repository.

M!K3  After testing quite all other available Subversion clients out there (free and commercial), I need to say: smartSVN Pro by far is the best one. Very good overview over the project's changes, intuitive usage, powerful features and rock solid.

Don't search any longer, use smartSVN! The 46EUR for the Pro version are worth each cent!
