LUKEARTS  I think they are referring to direct capture to disk of HDV, which none of the apple apps you suggest do with much ease or success. None of the applications to date allow direct disk capture from multiple source, to my knowledge.

LUKEARTS  Just use MPEG Streamclip on the dvd and go straight to DV without using Mediafork. If of course the DVD is encrypted then use MacTheRipper or the like to remove that first.

LUKEARTS  Version 0.88(779) works great for me best version to date. It app just keeps getting quicker. Until now...

Version 0.90(800) cause a kernel panic on the main mac at boot. If the machine actually gets to the startup screen all graphics are completely heterogeneous and I am unable to do anything other than a hard reset.

Started in safe boot, removed .kext and restarted fine. I've since installed 0.88 again and all is working.

Mac mini : Intel Core Duo 1.66 GHz : 2 GB ram : OS X 10.4.9 : Gigabit ethernet

LUKEARTS  Why is it that everybody wants software for FREE. Yes you can do it with other more time consuming methods but personally I only have to use this once and in the time I have saved I have already made back the cost of the app. It's a small cost $8/$15 the cost of lunch and hey I could get that cheaper as well if I made my own in the morning, but some of us will get food out for the ease. I don't need a car either. I could take free methods like walk, if I had all the time in the world, but hey when you need to be some place you get in the car. So why should I pay for features that I can have for free?

I think a lot of the posts on this site unfortunately have 3 words in common, "Why", "Pay", "Free". I think FREE being the ultimate word.

People are cheap when it comes to software?

el-cravito, I think if this software was free then you would not be using your method you would be using this instead. So your deciding factor for not using this application and the reason you told others to avoid it was that it costs money??!!

LUKEARTS  Perfect! Just how a mac app should be!!

Integrates nicely with the browser. It seems to uses the cached file from safari, which makes it so much quicker than the other flash download tools like Tubestock which want to download the video again. It also is not limited to youtube it works on google video (confirmed) and other flash video sites? (according to the limited information thus far in the installer) Although I couldn't get it to work on AtomFilms (maybe the dev can look at this)

It is really quick at encoding the .flv into .mp4 and drops the file into your ~/Movies folder which is fine. A preference for a different location would be nice.

It then does something strange and opens up iTunes? Strange because it doesn't add the video to the iTunes Library? Personally I would prefer to not have the video added to my iTunes lib, but Im sure many would so again a preference setting would be nice.

All in all it is very simple to use and looks mac pretty to boot.

As a app that is in beta this looks very promising. Im now off to Pre-order this sexy little app.

TASTYAPPS  Hey, we took a look at those problems you were having... we just couldn't let that sit, so we pushed out a new beta that fixes the iTunes issues... and we updated/optimized the codec to boot!

Give it a try and tell us what you think.

SICD  Poor service from Videobox team I paid for Videobox via Paypal and there has been no email with my serial numbers or any reply to two emails sent direct to the company. I am am not happy, most software is available the moment Paypal redirects your payment staright through to the developer......BEWARE OF THIS TEAM THEY ARE UNPROFESSIONAL.

TASTYAPPS  I'm a developer from tastyapps - first please notice that i am very active on these threads responding to *every* support issue.

I respond to all emails that i receive and 95% of our customers are thrilled... it completely puzzles me why every now and then i get a user like SICD - i can only imagine that he is not getting my responses due to them going in his Spam filter or some such.

It just hurts when you do your very best and people (on occasion) seem to see it fit to arbitrarily attack someone's professionalism or work ethic.

Now, mr SCID - please check your spam / bulk mail - more then likely i have responded to you. Our license emails are sent out immediately upon purchase. If you did not get an email, either your credit card is out of date (check with paypal to see if your payment is pending) or it has gone to your spam bin. If you find it there, or my responses to you i would love an apology (no hard feelings)

SICD  I have sent 3 personal emails to your company I have no spam filter on or have bulk mail, I am on a personal mac and all my other emails come in OK. I have no problems and I have no emails returned on my email address, so I can't imagine whats wrong.

TASTYAPPS  So for people reading this thread, here is what happened. This individual emailed me 3 times - in 1 day (the day before he posted to this thread). For the record - i *did* respond to him within 24 hours from his first email, but due to the time zone difference i didn't see his email until i woke up.

It baffles me how some people don't think that within 24/48 hours is a good response time. Some companies take weeks to reply i clear my inbox every day, or every other day.

Again for the record... His paypal payment was "uncleared" probably as a result of an invalid card or expiry date. Ultimately we never were notified of the purchase... so his problem is with Paypal... not us.

Please note... i do care a great deal about people's perception of me and my company. I listen, i respond and i try to help everyone that has a problem or needs a question answered. Luckily 99% of people don't have any problems... usually the problems that occur (like this one) are user errors... or other such problems out of my control. And ordinarily i am understanding, kind and helpful. But not when i'm being yelled at, and not when people are rude.

Now, i have asked him to chime in and apologize for unjustly defaming me and my company... let's see if he is a big enough man.

LUKEARTS  I disagree strongly. You can upgrade to FotoMagico 2.0 express at no charge and it is not "crippled" it offers the same features as you currently have in version 1. The developer is not taking anything away from you and is not costing you any more. Boinx FotoMagico 1 is still a great app and if you do not wish to upgrade don't it is that simple. If you wish to have the new features of the pro version then pay the upgrade fee $30 is less than an hour of my time and this app has saved me many hours.
