LORIN RIVERS  I've seen some of his work before (in fact, I begged him for a desktop wallpaper version of his shot of "my" bike and it's in heavy rotation). Any, I know it this is going to look GREAT! Buy his book, too.

LORIN RIVERS  This is PRECISELY what I have been looking for. I've just scratched the surface, but it's fast and flawless so far. I've got my bookmarks synced between Safari, FF2 & 3 and Camino. It's also checking my bookmarks in the background as I type this. Something I've needed to do for a long time.

I hate the icon, though.

Quay

*****

LORIN RIVERS  Quay keeps getting better and better. It's one of the best investments in software I have ever made!

Take the time to read the release notes if you're an existing user, I just spotted the cmd-option-click on running app in the dock to get process details feature, which is pretty cool.

Keep up the good work!

LORIN RIVERS  ZOMG! Speed increase alone makes me weak in the knees. The only complaint I had with the earlier version. If you miss the old folder-in-the-dock behavior in Leopard, Quay is your BFF. It rocks.

Quay

LORIN RIVERS  Quay returns most of the functionality that Leopard removed from the Dock, namely having a hierarchical menu popup from a folder placed in the Dock. It also adds quite a bit more (which I haven't looked into, or needed yet).

I had a substantial workflow around my set of frequently (but not constantly) used apps with aliases in a set of folders in a folder (web, dev, system, etc.).

I had resigned myself to launching everything with Spotlight until I found Quay. It's AWESOME.

LORIN RIVERS  I have a well-entrenched workflow built around a folder-in-the-Dock with apps and what not stored there. I was really, really missing that when I saw Old Folder. This immediately becomes a "must have" for me. Nice Work!

LORIN RIVERS  If your server-side filtering is working, you don't need SpamSieve. If, however, you are still getting spam then you can't go wrong.

LORIN RIVERS  BBEdit keeps getting better and better. Don't listen to the TextMate fanboys...

In this release, there's code folding, improved compare, and tons of improvements all over the place. Well worth the upgrade and now even more reasonably priced!

LORIN RIVERS  I use this all the time, both with a plain color (preferred method) and with the standard Mac OS X desktop picture. It's one of those "little things" that I rely on.

Thanks!

LORIN RIVERS  Instead of complaining about how it doesn't work, I sent an email to the developer, who replied within an hour with a fix.

Not only is it good looking, it's useful!

LORIN RIVERS  I'm EXTREMELY reluctant to install anything that involves APE, because in my experience I crash more with those items installed than I do without them.

As much as I'd love to use this which adds to Cocoa apps what Carbon apps get for free.

You Control

****.

LORIN RIVERS  I got this at MWSF and spent over an hour playing with it. It's damn cool, bundles lots of different features into one package, and they've promised many more to come. Anybody who feels they're asking too much for it--simple, don't buy it.

At the same time, you can't complain that any of this stuff "used" to be free--what WAS free, still is, it just doesn't work that well in Panther.

I love it and think it's a pretty good deal.

LORIN RIVERS  One other little bug: If your smart playlist is set to only play songs with a certain rating, and you use the hotkey for rating a playing song and the rating you assign is excluded from playing in the playlist, PTHiTunes doesn't know what to do.

LORIN RIVERS  No crashes, but it will restart iTunes and control-clicking the menu bar widget does not bring the UI up. I still use it, though.
