LOREM IPSUM I like this because it takes me to the basics of burning. Toast (for me) has become too larger. I can convert media myself (and prefer to do so since i have more options). this is great for basic dvd and cd burning - less is definitely more. (Version 1.0)

Fan Control | Oct 24 2006 |
FLYING_MEAT i did think it worked well. that is why i'm back for more of the fan control goodness. what i discovered on my own machine is that i could no longer shut down. after singluser fsck, permissions repair, some forced power offs, and log checks yielded little information as to how to resolve the problem, so being the terminal-geek-wannabe that i am, i issued the "shutdown -h now" command that allowed me to discover the problem. fan control (or some sibling) would not terminate normally. i then issued kill -9 for the process in question and was greeted by the resumption of my shutdown. I removed the startup item and prefpane when i rebooted and i was able to shut down normally. i then went to the fan control site and discovered the 1.1 release. i installed it and have not had a problem since. all of this is not to say that everyone will have issues like i described, or that something else mangled my shutdowns and fan control was just a symptom, but that is "a reason" why "i" got the 1.1 release. i recall seeing somewhere that there might have been discrepancies in the readings presented in the previous version, so there might be another reason someone might want to get the 1.1 version. aren't you glad you asked? :) (Version 1.1)

LOREM IPSUM Fantastic - does what it promises. I've noticed a 15 to 20 degree (F) difference in idle...and no additional fan noise noticed (macbook pro, 17"). Great piece of software. (Version 1.1.2)

LOREM IPSUM Overall a great concept and certainly comes in handy as an amateur photographer. The organization and editing is laid out well. My only issue is that the performance is spotty. At times it runs smoothly, but occasionally studders and sometimes locks up or crashes on exit. This seems to be rating-related as it does it most often after I rate a photo and then move it to an album. (Computer hardware more than adequate, so not hardware related). (Version 1.1.2)

LOREM IPSUM After 1.5 I tried several new versions of Firefox and they were awful, but this one is fantastic. I've definitely noticed a huge boost in speed (nice that it's now intel-compatible), and renderings seem consistent as before. (Version 2.0b1)

LOREM IPSUM i had several issues with getting it to work. when you zoom, it just disappears...no text, nothing...then displays a text window, the dock disappears...and creates two instances of the same text document. i'm confused. checked the preferences and everything seems fine. also, when you adjust the page width and height, the slider values dont update. definitely still in beta. good idea; will check back when a new version comes out. JOHN F. I haven't had any of your problems. I'm curious, do you have an Intel Mac or PPC? If it doesn't behave correctly, I suggest contacting the developer on the forum. The developer is really great. Second of all, I suggest that you don't rate an app before you can get it to work properly on your system. While you can grade something for it not working as it should on your system, it doesn't really tell that much. Like, I'm running it on an iBook with Tiger without any trouble and the app is really wonderful, even in beta. I think the previous people haven't rated yet just for this reason. I'm waiting with the rating after I have given it a thorough and fair run - more so because it is public beta. You have to cancel out that it not behaving correctly may be specific to your system. And you should also give the developer a bit of a chance to correct things. (Version 1.0b2)

LOREM IPSUM i watch the computer's temperate every day - and now that i've updated the firmware, it now runs roughly 10 degrees (F) cooler. i haven't noticed hearing the fan, so that's good. (Version 1.0)

LOREM IPSUM works well. some of the errors people are reporting seem to be authentification errors (by default, the program will display a temp of 32f/0c - so maybe just putting NA will help with that). in any event, its extremely small, and works well. (Version 1.0.4)

thanks for your positive feedback :-) Glad you like the lightweight-ness — the original motivation of mine to create this was that an alternative utility was simply far too featureful for my needs! Version 1.1 will add a few features and thus be /less/ lightweight, but it will also bring a few further optimizations, and I'm hopin some of the features (some of which have been requested by several users, too) may be of actual use. In any case, of course, 1.0.x is not going away, not to mention anyone could branch it off into a "MenuTemperature Lite" if they were so inclined. I certainly agree that "n/a", an alert or similar would be much clearer to the user than the current "let's pretend it's 0 degrees C when really it's not", but unfortunately, with the way 1.0 is built (1.1 is heavily reengineered code-wise), there isn't a good solution to this. However, I'll come up with something eventually. Again, thanks! (Version 1.0.4)

Firefox | Jan 2 2006 |
LOREM IPSUM This version was definitely released pre-maturely. As other users have noted, this version has some issues with java display on certain pages. Also, it no longer allows you to hold-click on a bookmark to open it in a new tab. (Uh, why?). Also, it occasionally won't allow you to scroll through pages at random times (reminds me of the input text issues in the past). And importantly as well, it still has serious memory usage issues. After browsing for say 30 minutes looking at just basic sites, I noticed that it was using almost 400mb of memory. Come on, that's just sloppy. I have a background in computer programming, and I have to say that not testing properly is, well, not a good thing. Keep a backup of 1.0.5; sure it sometimes won't let you fill out a text input field, but at least almost everything else seems to work. I've had to revert back to that version several times already, and I'm going to _really_ hesitate before upgrading again. (Version 1.5)
