LIVINGLIFE Using LCC 2.7 with SteerMouse 3.9 Please excuse the long post . . . Preliminary responses to earlier comments: Don, the Uninstaller is in the /Applications/Utilities/ folder. I’ve used it a few times. To those who have had the LCC 2.7 lose a given mouse or keyboard, just do the process of re-establishing contact by pressing the related buttons on the device and the receiver and the current device will appear. I have not been able to get LCC 2.7 to display both either, but the settings seem to be stored. A restart has been reported to be able to resolve the issue. I would be using 2.7, but the issue of F13 unable to do anything other than taking screenshots is a deal breaker for me. I need full control over the Function Keys (I use a Logitech S 530 Mac). I’ve had to go back to LCC 2.1.3. I have also worked out a way to use LCC 2.7 AND still be able to run SteerMouse 3.9, I would be VERY interested in knowing if it is of any use to other or if someone has been able to solve the LCC 2.7 F13 nightmare! Logitech hardware is wonderful; the software is a nightmare for those who need very specific capabilities and are not interested in “bells and whistles”--that’s what AppleScript is for! ;-0 Install LCC 2.7 and then SteerMouse 3.9 separately and set them up according to your preferences. Save the preference files to a separate location--you’ll need them later as they will be getting deleted during any necessary uninstalls--this may take more than one try. The user preference files are: com.Logitech.Control Center.Device Settings.registry com.Logitech.Control Center.Device Manager.plist com.Logitech.Control Center.Assignments.registry jp.plentycom.SteerMouse.plist These files can be edited with Property List Editor at a later time, if necessary. Uninstall SteerMouse (if installed) Uninstall Logitech Control Center (if installed) With LCC version 2.7(?) the files in Applications/Utilities will be gone as well as the ~/Library/Preference files With LCC version 2.1.3 use the Uninstall app in the LCC folder Install SteerMouse and restore the two Preference files listed above Install Logitech Control Center Restore the three LCC preference files listed above The LCC will no longer be functional, but many (if not most) of the functions established earlier may well be. I was able to still get the Caps Lock indicator in the menubar--very important to me! Good luck; I am currently running both successfully (LCC 2.1.3 and SteerMouse 3.9), but have not yet been able to get the Caps Lock icon back into the menubar. (Version 2.7) |
