LIGHTFOOTADV I bought this through the MU promo (I'm sure a lot of people will be commenting on apps they just bought). It does look a little old-fashioned, but I'm not sure that's a big problem. Features are generally more important. It can open and save into files I've never heard of before. It can do probably more things than I've even noticed so far. One problem I noticed is that if you pick "vectorize" (something that sounds like an interesting feature) it opens a save as window. If you then push cancel when you get back to the program the tool palette is empty. The save for web features are something I want to try out more throughly. I wonder how it compares to Imageready CS1. It has a live preview in the JPEG saving window, which is good. It seems like an effective choice if you need something special, or if you don't want to shell out the $$$ for Photoshop/Imageready (or buy an upgrade just for Intel versions) and you can handle something smaller, lighter, and don't need certain PS features. One big thing it would be nice to see added was the option to use the Mac OS X colorpicker. The fixed color palette would be nice in certain situations, but it would be nice to have some color sliders, etc. (Version 5.9.5) |
