TideApp
Aug 27 2008

LEIGH MACKAY  Good presentation of data.

Just one suggestion, and you might be on this already, whether the tide is rising or falling it is always graphically displayed as rising. Could I be missing something? To clarify the presentation, the arrow could be replaced with a square or, if you're up for a challenge, the arrow could change direction to indicate rising and falling tides.

Thanks for sharing your good work.

Cheers

MacJournal

LEIGH MACKAY  I like the look of MacJournal and I really like the calendar function.

Too bad I can't get it to run on my G5 10.4.5. There simply isn't any getting into the text window.

Hogbay Notebook still doin' the job.

Eudora

LEIGH MACKAY  I agree with Eric's comments. After trying all the others, Eudora remains my choice for my e-mail needs. I have a huge archive and Eudora makes sorting it all out easy.

I don't use the spamming feature. What I've done is created a message window I call "In Keepers". This is where the messages from all of my known contacts land. The rest, usually junk stays in the "In" window. After a quick check, I press Command key-A, Command key-D and they're all gone.

My thanks to the folks at Eudora for a fine product.

Eudora

LEIGH MACKAY  I've tried the rest--Entourage, Lotus Notes, Apple's Mail--and I remain with Eudora by choice. I'm a fan of all the windows in Eudora. I have a window titled "In Keepers". All the messages I want to read from friends, relatives, listservs, etc. are filtered into this window. All the spam remains in the "In" window. I select all and press CMD+D and the spam is all gone. I have thousands of messages filed away in Eudora and I can easily manage them with a few key strokes or a click of the mouse.

It may be what you get used to, your preferences, or the way you handle mail that might make you use a another product. For this long-time registerd user of Eudora, it's still my favourite.

Carbon Copy Cloner
Feb 17 2004

MAC ON A MAC  I have two hard drives. One acts as a back-up to the other.

Up-grading to 10.3.2 went without difficulty on the primary drive.

I have used Carbon Copy Cloner to transfer the new system software to the back-up drive. When I boot from the back-up drive, the OS will not accept my password.

I have used the Panther discs to up-grade the software on the back-up drive, choosing the "Create Old System folder" option to avoid permission hastles. When booting from the back-up drive, the OS will not accept my password.

I'm the only user and the administrator of my computer.

RAND  if you prevoiusly copied a system folder on that backup drive and did not format the drive before cloning yours over it again, you won't be able to log in as there are a lot of files that contain the login info that your mixing up. use carbon copy cloner to delete files before it transfers or format the drive.
