Every so often an application comes along that actually changes your life...or at least makes your life easier and you wonder how you ever lived without it. SyncMan is one of those rare one-trick ponies that does exactly what it's created to do...perfectly!

As do many, I rely heavily on Gmail but I hate how it automatically adds contacts for every sent email, like replying to a support message, etc. No one wants all that stuff in their contacts...we generally want the same contacts in Gmail that are in our desktop Address Books.

SyncMan does this...and does it either in a completely automatic mode at any schedule you want, or you can monitor various things and manually confirm them (you will be in the auto mode very soon when you see how accurate SyncMan is). My sincere thanks to the folks at Wateree Software, who have developed this gem and who are kind enough to even answer emails, should you need to talk to them.

I'm sorry, but you're way off base in your comment out about "cheap" users use Gmail. I am far from cheap and I use Gmail IMAP with Apple Mail because nothing on this planet...absolutely NOTHING...has a better spam filter than Gmail.

Seeing threaded messages may be a good reason for some, but for others (including me) I hate it. I want to be able to see individual messages in my inbox, not one message representing many others.

After posting my comment here about YummySoup! and Cookbook, YummySoup!'s developer contacted me and explained that YS! was not being purchased, and that he would continue to developer it. MDA's Cookbook project was in jeopardy and no where near completion as promised, so he is simply going to be the lead developer on the project.

Yes, he will in fact be working for the competition, which rarely works out in any industry, but he feels he can juggle both projects and said that YS! will not suffer from it. He says if necessary, they will use a third party to support Cookbook to conserve his time.

I think Ken has his heart in the right place...and I believe what he says he "wants" to do, but we (YS! fans) will have to see if he remains true to his first love, or gets overwhelmed by all the developmental efforts of trying to get a new app released.

If you'd like much more detail about this I recommend joining the YummySoup! forum where Ken is currently addressing this issue in great detail to his followers there.

I think YummySoup! is destined to be one of the great cooking apps of our time...but that can only happen if it remains on its development course and he continues to do listen to his customers...and has sufficient time and desire to complete his work.

As much as I love YummySoup! I think it's important to post what I just stumbled across in another forum from someone on MDA's "Cookbook" staff who says:

"Well, I'll give you guys an update. The developer of YummySoup! will be joining the Cookbook dev team once the contract is hammered out."

Unless Ken is going to work for his competition, I'd say YummySoup! might be headed toward extinction...which would be very sad :-( UNLESS...Cookbook will be a superset version of YummySoup!

You can read this yourselves at: http://www.macheist.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=7476 ...look at post #20 near the end of the thread.

Nice app...but will not burn copies of a normal .ISO file.

This is obviously going to take a larger effort than just a few voices to fix. I've called Logitech Harmony Support to complain, but to no avail. Their software is great for the remotes, their support folks are great...but they don't have a clue that one of the main reasons people us Mac is that they're not totally filled with garbage files strewn everywhere on the system.

If anyone has a good idea on how to get Logitech to listen to reason please let me know...I'd like to contribute.

Using this with Camino and the green notification icon with the exclamation point just stays on top of the Menu Bar Notifier icon.
