KRYSTOF VASA It's fixed in this version. In the previous versions Snippet was returning focus to the previous application by activating it - just as you would by clicking on its icon in the Dock, which - like Snippet did - opens a new document window. We've considered this a feature as when you're working with code your active application is often the development tool - if no window is open it makes sense for one to be created. But it's 'fixed' now. (Version 1.3)

KRYSTOF VASA I have to strongly disagree with you. If you read the description, you would note the huuuuuge difference between Safari and Stainless. Stainless - unlike Safari - forks one processes for each site, which makes it more stable and not memory hogging (as any memory retained by a web site is released the moment the tab is closed). KRYSTOF VASA I know it's not really disabling it, but visually, it's a solution. I'm not saying it's perfect, but it is one. For the future I have a plan to create an app disabling the spellchecker on application basis (you won't need to replace anything physically), but that would be a bit harder to implement. iFreeMem | Feb 24 2008 |
KRYSTOF VASA That's not exactly true. When an app need memory, it requests it and when there is enough of RAM memory, it gets it. If not, swapping comes to place. The OS writes some memory that hasn't been used for a while to the hard drive (typically) -> frees memory for the app requesting the memory. So, when you know you won't be using anything but one app and you need to give it all the performance you can get, this is the app you need - e.g. presenting something with Photoshop. However, I do believe that a regular user has no usage in this, but I'm not saying it's trash either. (Version 2.0)

KRYSTOF VASA Well, it should be just fine as you're able to run 32-bit on a 64-bit Mac without a problem. According to Apple, the only 64-bit app that's shipping right now with OS X is the Chess game. So you won't save much space removing Intel 64-bit code. However, all the (Cocoa) frameworks are 64-bit "ready", stripping them would save a lot of space, however, I wouldn't do it... Some links may be fragile. Slimming apps is one thing, but the system another. (Version 1.3.8)

KRYSTOF VASA It's just XCode. There are many other development environments that do not support (yet?) UB by just checking a box. Why do you think Apple didn't release its pro-tools in January when it announced the first MacTel? It's not that easy sometimes. (Version 2.0)

Gamer's Help | Feb 25 2007 |
KRYSTOF VASA Some of the game cheats are hard to find. Mostly when the Mac cheats are slightly different than those on PC. Example may be Wipeout 2097 - the cheat codes are completely different. We go through the web and choose only the working ones. We are not charging for the information we are providing, but for the time we have spent collecting this whole database. It's not a matter of hours, but days, to get the whole Codebook's database (which we are using under permission) to work with Gamer's Help and we have also spent a big amount of time crawling the web for new cheat codes. At the moment, we have over 550 games in the database and about 770 entries. The database is growing. I believe that when some people can pay extra money just for a better GUI, they may also pay something for the convenience of having everything in one place. the developer (Version 1.0)

KRYSTOF VASA I'm not the developer, but I'm gonna say this: All the stuff that you mentioned can't really be done anything with. Unfortunately. I haven't downloaded it, but I bet it is some ugly kind of Java and that is I think already enough to say. Java is a nice idea of crossplatform development, which works, but sucks - it's painfully slow, (at least on OS X) doesn't look right (the windows aren't composite) and the controls' behavior is usually not as we're used to. This is the huge disadvantage of this app. However, there is an advantage: it's available for 3 platforms at the same time. That's why the dev is never going to rewrite it in Cocoa. First off - he might not even own a Mac! He would have to learn a new language and that would commit him to one platform. If he's going after profit, the most profitable platform would be (I guess) Windows... Unfortunately. So we have to deal with what we have here and not wine about what we don't have... There are many cool native (written in Cocoa) FTP clients for OS X which you may use instead. (Version 7.23)

ZENOPOLIS CDRevolution is able to create a disk image for audio CDs and then burn a new audio CD from that image. This audio image can then be used to burn a new CD with the same, between track, gap sizes as the original - just as the artist intended. While Disk Utility can create images of data CDs (including data images of audio CDs), it can not currently create audio images. This means that while you can create a backup of the audio tracks for playing on a computer that recognises aiff files, you can't burn an authentic audio CD that can be played on most standard audio equipment. For backing up CDs, whether audio or data my aim was to make CDRevolution as simple to use as possible. I think I've gone some of the way to achieving this (but I'm always open to suggestions). For instance, on a machine with two optical drives; CDRevolution just requires a single drop, and a single button click to make a copy. A machine with a single optical drive requires just one extra click. I suppose the quick answer should be something like: ease of use, and better audio copying.

KRYSTOF VASA From my point of view, this looks too Windows-ish. I mean the icons: 1) the design - you need some aqua to it 2) they should be in the toolbar, rather than under the picture. On the Mac, the menu bar is on the top, and oftentimes, your mouse is on the top, and this app forces you to move your mouse too much. But otherwise, it's a prettey cool app, keep up the good work! OSXFACTOR I believe they mean that it needs to be installed on an HFS or HFS+ partition. You can't install it on a UFS partition. Count me as one who is very disappointed that this isn't a UB. I've been waiting for this upgrade for years, and will continue to wait until it is a Universal Binary. Come on devs - Apple only makes Intel Macs now. If you don't have a Universal Binary ready to ship, keep on working on your app. (Version 6.0)

KRYSTOF VASA Not impressed at all! I used to be a RB developer, my product Liberer ( http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/15432 ) used to be written in RB. When I got my new MacBook Pro in March, I decided to rewrite it in Cocoa. I didn't know Cocoa at all and I got it rewritten in two months. Now (after 6 months of development that was NOT intensive at all - I changed a few lines every other week) it has more features than it had, is more powerful and can rely on the newest technologies Apple releases! An empty Universal Application built with RB has 7.1 MB. I mean WTF? In XCode, an empty app is not more than 100kB! I, however, still need to use RB as I have multi-platform projects. But developers, you whose projects are Mac only, please, try using XCode... (Version R4)

KRYSTOF VASA Mr. Errorr (?) If you have any ideas how to improve this application, feel free to contact me via email at putaint[at]seznam.cz I don't really understand the "UI is inconsistent " statement. a) this is a beta version, in the final version, you'll be able to turn this off in the preferences b) this is a protection of user's data, so the user doesn't do something that he/she doesn't want to do. Please, it would greatly help me and further development of this program, if you would be so kind and contact me, telling me, what exactly is wrong in your eyes and I can try fixing it. KRYSTOF VASA I have been programming in RealBasic for a long time. Maybe way too long. I always wanted to start with Cocoa, but I was too lazy (as many of the RB users). But the Intel-transition was the point. In January I didn't know anything about Cocoa at all. Within a month or two I re-wrote nearly my whole application in Cocoa. It is way faster, way more reliable and much pretier. + all toolbars are customizable, etc. And a message to RealBasic developers: Intel! Intel! Intel! Intel! Intel! Intel! Intel! Intel! Intel!
