MacGourmet Deluxe | Jan 19 2009 |
KRYSIA Just an FYI, taken from the MacGourmet FAQ section of their website (http://macgourmet.com/faq.html): "Q: What is the difference between MacGourmet and MacGourmet Deluxe? A: Mariner Software is redistributing MacGourmet and its plug-ins as a discounted retail bundle, all in one convenient package, at one price, called MacGourmet Deluxe. The standard version of MacGourmet (still available here for $24.95), which you can add optional plug-ins to, is exactly the same as what is in the "boxed" Deluxe version, and it is still available as it always has been. So, you can buy a bundle (Deluxe) with everything: Mealplan, Cookbook and Nutrition, or, if you just want a simpler product, buy MacGourmet from macgourmet.com and add a plug-in, or not, it's up to you." XENOPHILE Mariner has a history of aquiring brilliant shareware apps, jacking the price, and bloating them beyond all recognition. This approach is evident in the "deluxe" version of MacGourmet, which will not remain a lean and focused app for long. (Version 1.1)

MacGourmet Deluxe | Apr 2 2009 |
ADVENIO SUPPORT @xenophile: This is a only distribution deal. The product continues to be developed exactly as it was before, and ownership has not changed in any way. Mariner sells a bundle of everything, into markets I can't access on my own. The standard basic version still exists and will continue to exist, and the price hasn't changed on that since 2004. Clonetool Hatchery | Jan 18 2009 |
KRYSIA Ran into a snag with apparently a Microsoft file (figures) that wouldn't allow for a proper clone. Therefore, unable to create a bootable clone. Posted on the developer's message board for assistance, and was informed of the following: "There are plently of other Cloning softwares for PowerPC. I suggest you try one of those and see if it does the same thing. A would suggest using CCC which should be able to do a blog level copy of your system instead a file level copy that Hatchery uses. We have not updated this software in almost 2 years. This is not our focus right now." This was after the original reply in my inbox: "We are no longer apart of the Hackintosh project. I have a Mac. I've had *only* Macs since 1984. I didn't even know what a Hackintosh was until I read about this software. I was trying to follow good message boarding etiquette by not starting a new thread on the unbootable subject. i hoped to make a bootable clone of this Mac on an external hard drive as my current internal hard drive has only 80 GBs. I will check MacUpdate for CCC. So I'll be removing Clonetool Hatchery from my computer as I don't like to keep unsupported applications on my limited hard drive. Good luck to those who intend to keep using this product. (Version 1.1.7)

CandyBar | Jan 18 2009 |
Just a note to say that I'm extremely glad Panic hasn't gone out of business. I love their products, even though I'm unable to use the new version of CandyBar (!) because I don't have Leopard on my computer, I do enjoy using the CandyBar 2. I've also LOVED LOVED LOVED Transmit; it's the only FTP program worth using, IMO, and now that I've added Coda to my application party, the champagne's uncorked. Panic provides reasonably priced, feature-packed, *gorgeous*, and relatively easy to use software. Support has been fantastic every time I've had to contact them for whatever reason (and it's been few and far between). It's up to the consumer to decide which they prefer, but no need to wish a company to go under (taking its customers with it!) simply because you don't like it. (Version 3.1.2)

AppleJack | Jan 14 2009 |
KRYSIA This is a small, fabulous, and indispensable piece of software. It repaired what Onyx could not. It repaired what Apple's Disk Utility could not. It repaired what Apple's Disk Utility could not from a different startup (original) disk could not. My disk is in the Green again, and it was so incredibly easy to do. Followed their instructions. After initial restart, Safari had odd behaviors: I'd click the X to close a tab & nothing would happen. I'd go to push the scrollbar up or down after just doing so, & it wouldn't work unless I clicked on its background first. However, their instructions in the read-me file stated there might be some weirdness, and that a restart of the computer should fix it. I restarted, and *knock wood* so far, zero problems. Ran Onyx; needed to repair disk. Ran Disk Utility from a startup disk, and this time, the one thing left that was wrong with it after Applejacking it was fixable. Disk Repaired. To be safe, I restarted one more time, ran Onyx, disk is fine. Hooray! Definitely donated. (Version 1.5)

Coda | Aug 31 2008 |
KRYSIA I absolutely LOVE Coda! I'm a far cry from an expert at web design or coding, but I've found Coda way easier to use than GoLive (which I promptly chucked) and more useful overall that TextWrangler. I'm still new to exploring Coda, but my understanding is that one *is* able to view more than one file at a time in split-windows to compare files. I haven't done that yet (expect by mistake); perhaps there's more to what the previous reviewer meant with regard to comparisons. Regardless, I'm very pleased with Coda and also love how it works seamlessly with Transmit (which I've used for years). I look forward to their continued progress. (Version 1.5)

KRYSIA It's gorgeous solitaire software with multiple price options: For example, Solavant offers a student price of $17 for this beautiful software. I think it's fabulous. (Version 2.0)

KRYSIA This is a fantastic screensaver!!! It definitely looks wet when activated, and I love the ripples. The only thing I would suggest for perhaps future versions (if possible), would be rainstorm sound effects to go with the raindrops. :-) That would be cherry. However, I'm certainly enjoying it either way. Thank you! (Version 1.4)
