It's been 9 months since the original developer handed this program over to another guy (after losing interest in it and moving on to projects like WriteRoom). Not much has happened since then: Apokalypse Software, as the new guy calls his business, has released a slew of rambling blog posts and a few minor bug fixes, but every one of these bug fixes introduced new bugs that had to be fixed in subsequent updates, and so on. Not very professional. There have been no new features since 2006, and worse, Mori has serious performance issues under Leopard. (It beachballs every few seconds when I try to type a note in a 20 MB database.)

There are many programs in this price range that work better and are made by people who know what they're doing (EagleFiler, DevonThink, Yoyimbo etc.). Or you could buy DevonNote which is very similar to Mori - and much faster - but only costs $20. I have been using Mori (and its predecessor, Hog Bay Notebook) for years, but it's time to move my data out of it.

Chill out. Did you even check the new developer's site before you posted your rant? Mori has not been discontinued. It has only changed ownership, and the new owner has already released a maintenance update and a schedule for the new features he's going to add in the coming weeks. What more can you expect? The change in ownership might turn out to be the best thing that could have happened to Mori users.

The negative reviews below completely miss the main point of this program: Install the "Edit in WriteRoom" plugin (via the preferences), and you can invoke WR's full-screen mode from almost every Cocoa application on your Mac - your text editor, your email program, your browser. If you use Safari, you can type your Macupdate comments in full-screen mode. Just set WR to open documents in full-screen mode, and you can invoke it from any text field in any Cocoa program with a shortcut or the "Edit in WR" menu command. Save your changes, close WR, and the text will appear in the text field or web form you were editing.

Yes, there are other, more sophisticated text editors with full-screen mode, but WR automatically adds this feature to _all_ programs with standard Cocoa text input fields. This is a very clever idea. Perhaps the developer should have mentioned the "Edit in WR" feature in his product description, because this is the main selling point of WR, at least in my opinion.
